Would there be enough information to make at least an informed guess of where to find Vaarsaal or whom to approach?

Otherwise, would Khyran be able to locate a local medicae / sawbones with ties to the current mercenary build up?

Sorry, pardon my High Gothic; I meant your rap sheet (criminal record). Unless you have a problem with battle-axe, in which case there's no helping you.

Hmm I will say yes given your 3 DoS: your character is also given some brief images, pulled from the mind of a passerby, of a set of heavy iron doors flanked by banners showing a burning skull above crossed curved awords, with crucified victims located nearby, and a general feeling of fear/dread about the place, along with a general direction regarding the location. Not really any information about who to approach, however, but you have in idea now of what his personal sigil looks like.

Otherwise I'm afraid you'll either need to start asking around for local mercenary gathering places -- your character would reasonably know that an arms dealer could probably set him straight, or to seek out a local watering hole. Otherwise I guess you could start randomly abducting peasants and torturing them for information via invasive mind probing or whatever strikes your character's fancy. ;)

@Mazer Rackham & @Trokair please stand by for the commencement of more ULTRAVIOLENCE. I'm going to keep this fairly loose as the two of you are in a medium sized establishment (vis a vis a fairly enclosed area), and we can let the theatre of the mind do its job rather than getting bogged down with a battle map at this early stage of the game as there will be opportunity enough for that. Your initiatives have been noted and added to the tally.

There are currently 6 or so pirates standing around Sakal plus the assailant across the room that Iorek spotted. For the sake of simplicity, you can consider most denizens of the Gutted Cardinal to be well within short range for ballistics purposes, with those in your immediate vicinity obviously in point-blank/melee range. The pirates are all armed with a variety of solid projectile firearms and all manner of knives, cutlasses and boarding axes, all of which will be mono edged, but no chain or power weapon amongst themselves aside from the power sword on de Vega's hip that you have seen. Any misses with firearms can and will cause collateral damage, and there may be a chance of that with melee weapons too, though anyone caught inside of the bar will likely be looking to make a hasty exit or otherwise find cover once I roll up the result of Iorek's opening move.

What?? I was promised souls and architectural elevations of every nook and cranny! Did the dark gods lie to me?

Good. I'm going to kill them all.

@Trokair go back-to-back with me bud, should you so desire.

Tactics. :p

It's a fair point!

As I understand it, with animal minions/familiars it is assumed that whatever they see/hear is also seen/heard by the owning character? (Some sort of psy-link in this case, I guess?)

If that's not how it works in BC, I'll change the roll to be Oswyld's, should still be a success so nothing changed.

I’m on mobile  would score a 17 on  my TT dice app for Khyran’s Awareness Check while attending the sacred rites of caffeine induced invigorations .
( Unless you consider it unproven and untrustworthy internet slander- then I’ll check for my dice roller log in codes once I get home )

@Xin Ceithan The Holy Rite of Recaffeination is the most sacred of rites that I observe in my morning routine. The 17 stands (it's just an awareness test anyways).

@Lysimachus I'm not exactly sure how to rule on the amount of information Oswyld and Curan might be able to share through some sort of rudimentary empathic bond. I know there are cyber familiars in the lore, but barring any cybernetics, which curan unfortunately doesn't seem to have equipped, I think the empathic link is probably largely limited to knowing each other's relative location and maybe some strong emotions or something like that. I'll think on that some more. For now let's assume Oswyld overheard the guard owing to his enhanced senses and whatnot.

Fair enough, boss!  Edited the green to show it as Oswyld's roll with an Assist from Curan, rather than the other way around. It only changes the target from 60 down to 58, so the 45 rolled should still be the same level of success.

Perfectly acceptable!

Members of the delegation to see Vaarsaal, I'm going to park you guys for a short spell while I work through this combat encounter with Iorek and Sakal. Regular operations will resume presently.

D'oh, there I was, thinking we were about to get into the meat of this adventure! Kill 'em quick, lads!!! :laugh::laugh:

Nothing like the old GM bait-and-switch!

Also I hate to break it to you, but there is no meat to this adventure. It's randomly generated encounters all the way down! Chaos!

Edit: @Lysimachus I *could* probably continue to run everything in parallel but I felt like my posts were getting a bit cluttered, not to mention long (since I'm doing 95% of my posting via mobile, I'm having to write out my full posts in my running google doc with full bbcode).

If he stands still for five seconds, I'll get Hellsdottir into the meat of this Xeno scumbag right and quick!

You'll have to forgive no Umlaut, my keyboard disallows it.

@Xin Ceithan I couldn't help but imagine this being the backing track for poor Khyran while he wandered around Desolace terrorizing the locals in search of fellow hardened killers with whom to hang out.

No, no, not at all, you should run it however you feel comfortable with! Apologies if it didn't come across, definitely meant as a joke, and I'm very much enjoying the game

Question, though; if we aren't still in what I think of as an intro to the game (pre-mission or whatever you want to call it), have we started earning xp etc? We've been at it for 3+ months so I'm thinking that's a decent 'gaming session' and hoping maybe we are?

...I'm also hoping that Oswyld's loudmouthery at every opportunity might be gaining him an Infamy point or two...?

@Lysimachus loudmouthery begets annoyance, not infamy. ;)

As to your question regarding XP: let's get the party united (I'm working on it...) and some rewards for the exemplary RP demonstrated thus far will be doled out.

It might have bene 3 months out here, but in the Gutted Cardinal it has been perhaps half an hour...

So they did more than one song, or is that the B Side of the Safety Dance?

Sweet.

Guess I’ll have  to change his origins to being one of the  Lamenters?
Then he’d  be able to pull off that hair cut!

Edit:

Also, we can then use THIS for his entry to the Gutted  Cardinal

It's the single off of their third record if memory serves.

5-10 minutes more like. The Gods of the Warp have been known to treat space-time as their plaything, after all.
