Went a shade lighter, adding more bright green - maybe 2:1,?!

I was wary of having distinct blobs of the lighter shade on the muscles but I'm quite pleased how it is developing. I think that is enough though, the shade will be the next step.

I saw something recently (snippet from the Siege Studio podcast, I think) where someone said if you're afraid of the outcome, you'll end up painting less. So I guess it is time to feel the fear and do it anyway!

That’s the spirit. Good luck!

I think it looks good so far, so I don’t think there’s any real cause for concern but that’s easy for me to say

Well, the contrast wash didn't work out the way I had hoped. Maybe I needed way more contrast medium but having got it on, the Ork Flesh looked too blue in the recesses.

So I opted for a traditional Biel Tan Green wash for the remaining miniatures.

A poor photo to demonstrate (the sun has come out again!)

Assuming the photo shows the colours more or less right, I think it looks like a good "natural" skintone. The Orks I've painted have been a bit more on the cartoony side, but if you're going for a more realistic/grim approach, I think it looks quite nice.

Thanks @Antarius, I am pleased with the skin, I think it works for the Goffs and the planned colour and check additions, as well as some Ushabti Bone on the bases, will lift the overall scheme from being too dark and grimy. The metals ended up looking a lot greasier than I expected and definitely need a lift.

Hope to report on more progress soon!

I also think that the skin is great, particularly on the grenade-tossing ork.. If you highlight some bits at a later stage, the result should be stunning.

I also very much like the texture on the pistol. I'm not sure how intended the result is, but the pistol casing has a nice, worn look with some clearly visible 'scratches.'

Thanks @Brother Christopher, I have now covered up some of that nice metalwork in an attempt to differentiate my squads!

My two squads are nearly identical so I need to be able to tell the difference on the table top.

So we have Da Checka Boyz and Da Red Shootas.

I'm going to call these guys done though I've lost a bit of Warboss armour (tink, tink, tink as it disappears across the dining room floor) and his arm needs some remedial work at the join.

I'll try and work out one of those 'hidden' posts for the remaining photos.

Just so you know, I forgot to take a photo but Junior swamped my marines five squares from the exit. I was left with two marines, back-to-back against the advancing Xenos horde.

The mission was C.A.T. Hunt from Deathwing.

Emperor protect me when we get to play 40K, Junior is getting tactical in his play!
