I finished the first batch of my Kroot Kill Team.

 

These are the "Cunning Cockatiels".

It is not the name they have chosen themselves, it is the name some of their human victims have given them, because of their appearance.

These Kroot are a mercenary gang that also does a bit of piracy on the side.

They will work for anyone they deem worthy of their service, however, they have no qualms of "terminating" the work relationship by eating the employers, if these show weakness or are about to lose against the other side. This kin band is fearless, brutal, not afraid to use dirty tricks and always hungry!

Their leader is Marrah Wah, an old and wise leader, adored by his kin band and they will follow him into death and beyond.

Currently, they are exploring a derelict space hulk on the look for usable loot- and just have heard that a team of human operatives are also exploring the same space hulk. This is not a problem. This just means that the meat supply is taken care of. The dinner bell has been rung- and the Cunning Cockatiels will not been kept wanting and waiting.

 

I just wanted to create a kin band that looks different from the usual boring green and brown. They should still look like they are exploring a dirty derelict space hulk, but as they are bird men, they will also have acute vision and perfect colour vision - that means, they will favour colourful clothing. They will be anything, but never drab.

In addition, I love cockatiels, and I have kept several of these funny little birds in my life and with this group of Kroot, I am going to honour their memory.

 

 

 

Now I have 11 Kroot operatives left to go....

So, I am actually working on my stuff and I hope to have the Choral Undue done by the end of the month. 

 

Proof that some things are getting paint slapped on them, the squad's transport is complete.

 

 

Unfortunately, the squad itself is going to take a little more time, as they are more detailed than the transport. Still, progress is progress.

The Eldar went across to Ogrys,

They were lookin’ to take some names,

They were really steamed, and it was deemed,

The Monkieghs were to blame.

When they came across this kill team,

Charging their guns and coming in hot,

The Banshee Exarch skipped uphill and said:

“Boys, lemme tell ya what,”

 

“We guess you didn’t know it, but we kill people too,

And for blitzing old Idharae, we’ll stick a sword in you.

Now you boys got good aim, but give the Eldar our due,

We’ll bet our wraithbone, against your home,

Because we’re sure better than you.”

 

Well the Sarge said “My name’s Daegon, and Invading is my trade,

And fouling up my homeworld, is the last mistake you’ve made.”

The boys done took their safeties off, made sure it was the bomb,

Cause Kill Team Victus’ payload is double-blessed napalm,

They’ll win the day and turn the tide with hatred and with faith,

But if they don’t, the Eldar stomp their face.

 

The Exarch drew her pistol, and said, “I’ll start this fight,”

Bolts and discs flew past their heads, slicing left and right.

And as she leapt into the air, she gave an evil hiss,

Then the Banshees all joined in, wanting a piece of this.

 

When the Eldar charge was finished, old Daegon weren’t impressed,

He shot one with a plasma bolt, turned her to smoking mess.

“Now you swing a pretty good blade my lass, but you’re all flair and noise.

We’ll take your filthy xeno skulls, time to kill ‘em boys!”

 

Raglan drowned them in holy flame,

Kurtz shot ‘em up if they stood again,

Daegon squished their guts out with a powerfist,

Julo fired a rocket...and he missed.

 

The Exarch lolled her head,

Cause she was beaten to a pulp,

But Daegon knew his homeworld,

Was now just a smoking dump.

Daegon said, “Ogrys might have fallen,

But we bear no shame,

And mark my words you screaming witch,

We’ll take it back again.”

 

And...Vorbis killed a few with a frag grenade,

Pollux laid ‘em low with a fusillade,

Daegon chopped the Exarch with her own blade,

Just another day in a space crusade.

The Kill Team is completed, and I, Mazer Rackham do plead my oath and vow to be discharged in the presence of my peers.

I, Lysimachus, vow to complete a second Kill Team of the War Dogs Chapter (Phobos Strike Team), to be fully painted and based by the 31st January 2023, and to provide at least minimal fluff/background for them. May the Emperor curse me to darkness and ruination should I fail!

Edit: Even though the War Dogs scheme isn't massively bright/colourful, I still don't like stealth troops in standard Chapter markings. So these guys will definitely be painted in a more 'covert ops' appropriate manner!

I'd like to change my pledge. I need to finally finish the Kommando KT I've been working on since, well... forever it seems and as a result won't have the time to do the Voidscarred the way I want to in time for this event. Instead, I'll do the Veteran Guard KT. They should be a lot quicker than the Voidscarred. Hope this is ok.

Cheers! I can't paint or look at them without hearing a certain theme tune...

 

Unfortunately due to other commitments, I won't be participating further, so these guys won't make into the challenge, and my vows will have to stand as they are.
