BrotherCaptainArkhan
Working on something a little special for the last Tactical Marine in Thunder Cadre. I wanted this guy to feel like a raw Tactical who's just seen the II Company banner lying in the dirt (yes, like that scene from Space Marine 2!) He's picked it up and is ready to dish out righteous vengeance(TM) with the fury of the Emperor at his side. I also (because I had to be extra...) magnetised his gun-hand, because for some reason I couldn't decide between boltgun and chainsword! I can also give him a power weapon in future if needed. The back is still a bit rough. Otherwise, what do you guys think? Blissful Brushes
If it’s a rescued banner, I’d be inclined to rough it up a bit. It’s pristine right now but you’ve cast your ancient as a mid-scrap replacement. Pose is good and the banner looks really nice BrotherCaptainArkhan, Dr_Ruminahui, Firedrake Cordova and 1 other 3 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386704-the-sons-of-the-condor-bear-cadre-devastators/page/6/#findComment-6173436 Share on other sites

I'm hoping to add feathers, trophies and a bit more detail in general before it's completely ready for paint. gaurdian31 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386704-the-sons-of-the-condor-bear-cadre-devastators/page/6/#findComment-6173576 Share on other sites

Looks brilliant, matches the depiction of Eldar Raiders from Rogue Trader. It's close to the Imperial Armour depictions as well. I think of the new plastic Corsairs as Ynnari troops while the image of true Corsairs in my mind is similar to your miniature or the old 3rd edition conversions made using WHFB Elf archer parts. I like muted palettes but enjoyed playing with something a bit brighter for the Corsair. On 6/5/2026 at 6:02 PM, MoriyaSchism said: Which size of magnet did you use for the gun and sword arm? Thanks very much! I had Imperial Armour partially in mind. That's really cool to hear, thank you. The magnet on the banner bearer is inside the guy's wrist - it's 2x1mm. Absolutely tiny and a pain to get right but worth it I think. Speaking of corsairs... Finished off the squad! Now the question is do I paint more of these... BrotherCaptainArkhan
Working on some Condors stuff in the background, but in the meantime, might have been further bitten by the Eldar bug. BrotherCaptainArkhan
And it's finally time for a return from the Condors! Three Bleeding Spear, the shaman leading II Company's remnants, is finally done. I am about 85% happy with him - I tried a few new painting and sculpting techniques, some worked, some could have been better. I painted him during the heatwave here in the UK and you can see it slightly in the paint texture. However, he'll do for gaming for now. I may revisit the idea at a later date. For now - I'm so close to a game legal force of Condors! Looks like we are revisiting 3rd/4th edition in my group, and I now have a HQ and two Troops choices - just one more model to paint for the Tacticals and then we're game-ready.
