What the hell is going on with those precisions attacks? Also, a weird plasma pistol buff.

Don't forget these datasheets are specifically for the boxset and will be invalidated in a month or two.

I suspect the random precision is because of the whopping 5 ork characters that make up half their army as a balancing point. Id be amazed if they kept it after.

This ^

From my understanding, the released datasheets from both included factions only pertain to when using the box to play a game (not that some won't try to play one side against a completely different force...which would be interesting to see how they fare since they look balanced against each other).

I'm expecting different datasheets when the codex drops, but time will tell.

Agreed. Mephiston is nerfed hard by this since he has 2 separate Hazardous weapons.

It's so there's some actual risk so captain timmy with his 5/6 wounds can't just overcharge by default and know they can do it all game with no real penalty.

On average a character overcharging would lose 3 wounds over the course of a game. Now they will kill themselves on average. I see plasma pistols being put on Sergeants instead instead and characters getting MC Bolters (at least for Marines).

Or just don't overcharge it?

It's actually the exact opposite.

Previously, HAZARD ROLLS had to be applied to models with HAZARDOUS weapons, so for example a Chaos Chosen would explode one of the failed plasma pistol models on a failed roll, and Psykers like Sorcerers and Librarians would nuke themselves. Now, it's just one wound on the unit, so characters with bodyguards can have their mates tank the damage instead (and Chosen are much better because they only take 2/3s the number of wounds they did in 10th.)

Apologies, I misread. I thought it was Characters too. In that case plasma is back on the menu.

Although I can see Redemptor Dreads losing their shine a bit.

No worries - I think it's because Hazardous at first glance looks the same as 10th, but its actually very different and that's going to catch people out initially.

Feel you on Redemptors... my Forgefiends are looking very risky now, though I might actually be able to achieve the mythical "Activate at 12W and die" outcome now it is significantly more likely.

Plasma pistol rules have new rules in 11th. They have D3 shots when not overcharged which is pretty cool and thematic.

I think my new squad of Wolf Scouts with plasma pistols throughout suddenly got a glow-up!
