Definitely a good way to curtail all those endless threads of people asking "is this deliberately universally compatible upgrade sprue compatible with the kit meant for it?"

Now to wait for an article that explicitly says "you are allowed to pick and paint whatever you want, even if it isn't the presumed standard for the legion of your choice"

I'm still curious to see the sprues as to how many power lances there are.

I wish heresy wasn't dead locally as I'd have grabbed two boxes. However, my bank account is very thankful.

There are 10. They said there were 10.

I was thinking of getting some HH heavy weapons upgrades, but seeing how they´re all stand alone weapons, basically copy pasted to be easily changed unto pairs of arms, while missing backpack parts and cables, belts etc. Nah, i rather pay recasters for old time FW weapons then buy GWs offering of these.

Plasma cannons look too light while held ontop of shoulder like Missile launcher, Heavy bolters, Heavy flamers, multimeltas and so are missing iconic backpack feeds, just everything feels too modern, light... I dunno, cheap? Sure it´s easy to make same ten/twenty man unit use same weapons with same arms but it just lacks all the OOPMH, so to speak.

Not to be "that guy" but where was that please? Good news though.

Original reveal article. Technically it says a "complete set" but in a box of 10 guys that has to be 10 spears, even with GW logic. Hopefully.

Based on what I can see of the other two Assault Squads (On the GW, I refuse to call it Warhammer yet, site) we're looking at a set of 2 sprues, duplicated? So probably 5 different poses and we know at least one is one-handed

That's the logical thing considering we haven't seen the MkIV Assault Squad shown with Shields.

I might pass on the box and wait for the separate release as whilst I know it'll be a good saving in the long run, I have no plans for the Contemptor nor Sicaran yet and I'd want to pick up probably another Assault Squad or two to make some more dynamic Grey Slayers and characters.

Plus I've just decided to buy a power station and solar charging kit.

As far as I can see it hasn't been posted, but there's a Warhammer Community article on the compatibility of the Horus Heresy infantry kits

Is the Breacher Kit compatible with it? Asking for a friend.

Well, that was painless to acquire. Also Tale off Painters review is out.

Sadly it seems the pistols are all left handed, seems GW, for whatever reason, opted to mirror some of the models in the initial article. BUT we have 5 spears per sprue of assault legionnaires, so that's a plus.

Got mine for £115 so I am happy with that.

The unboxing vids I have seen show subtle changes in some poses which also pleases me as I've never been keen on the leaning advancing pose.

I went with three sets but will be using them for 4th edition, I also got the Sabbat Crusades book as well so may do Iron Snakes.

Huh, so there IS an 'whoops all Power Lances' option for the Assault Marines. I know there'd been a bit of speculation if it was just gonna be 2-4 in the box. Nice.

Yeah instead of doing shields like the MkII and Mk VI they went with spears. I do like that one is one handed allowing you to go full Spartan by adding a shield from one of the other kits, command squad has some too.

It does mean you can make veteran Assault squads with spears but hoping if they do MkV they have the option for all lightening claws which I personally think a lot of people would have preferred.

Great for Blood Angels players though.

Backpack feeds *are* the modern version. Old school was all shoulder mounted goodness. And 'heavy' shouldn't come into it, they're walking exo suited tanks with anti gravity technology.

Retro stuff is cool, but regressions is bad. The FW versions of the shoulder mounted weapons that were based on the old designs came with accessorized backpacks that had extra optics and bits to represent as spare cells or magazines. This comparison is a bad excuse.

Ordering this was a total nightmare

I get the feeling they kept a large part of the stock for the UK as it all seems to be still available over here. Australia seemed to run out really fast.

I know people were having issues with the gw website not checking out.

From what I could glean from the error messages the checkout function could not check available stock and was timing out.

I didn't have issues ordering from Element games over  an hour after it went up in the UK (I was asleep haha as I work nights).

Then again, maybe they don't have an accurate count from GW and it'll get cancelled.
