They also seem to have fully committed to the 'handlebar grip' on power spears, don't know why.

They developed a whole new complicated force composition scheme to stop us taking so many dreadnoughts and they put dreadnoughts in every bundle box.   I actually really want the mk4 stuff, so I guess I'm still in for the set.

I'm painting an older metal chaplain at the moment and the general look of him is so much better than all the recent 'firstborn' stuff for the heresy line. Proportions are much better.

I like these, but I wish they'd kept the bonding studs on some of the legs. Wonder how much the box will cost.

The previous Battlegroup box was $210 back in October of 2023.
I'd imagine this one is $229 or something like that. $250 would be pushing it, but I could see it.

Good, cause that was a big annoyance for me during kit bashing that every model has their weapons in the same hand.

Probably the seperation that goes on in GW, tons of heads that don't talk to each other. The person putting together the box contents probably isn't up to date the rules, just knows that "contemptor = good" based on old information...

All the infantry redesigns from heresy have had a lot less angularity and more rounded features. Not just marines, solars and thallax suffer from it as well.

Looks decent, though the loss of the old Mk IV jump packs is a crying shame. That said Mk IV was never my favourite HH armour mark so my reaction is perhaps less strong about this than it otherwise would be?

I had my fingers crossed for the Mk IV jump packs coming back and the Tigrus bolters staying mostly the same. The contents of the Rapier box and the Mk IV jump pack being featured alongside the new Mk IV colour palettes in the 3.0 books gave me false hope it seems.

Early Chaos mutation clearly

Some heretics get a tentacle arm, some horns, some get an extra finger.

It was a short-lived experiment with the Legions' gene-seed, to see if a sixth finger would improve combat efficiency.

Unfortunately, they had to drop it because Legionaries kept being hunted down and dueled by guys named Inigo.

How many fingers does the Legionary have on his right hand?

I can understand the jump packs but still not a fan of the idea. It does seem plausible that the pack was made for Mk IV and then used later for Mk VI but I much prefer the old pattern. It also beggars the question will Mk V use it or a custom version?

I'd be interested to see the helmets in person and how they compare in person size to the other marks. Overall I like them, the vambraces seem a bit odd but still work.

They look good. Real shame they half arsed the jump packs though. My old resin mkIV jump packs look a gajillion times better. I’ll have to find 3rd party or learn how to do myself as I have 285 to do over the next 3 years…

They just took this model and slopped all over it. Not sure why they changed the standard ear piece shape from the Mark IV helmet. It really does feel like they are trying to create a completely different aesthetic for the Heresy so it clashes with Warhammer 40,000. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I can't help but notice all these strange changes to already established designs and I don't care for the people who cite older artwork to defend this. I didn't like it with the new Mark III and I don't like it now. Another strange thing that bothered me since the release of Heresy 2.0 was this cover art style using edits of real model photos where Space Marines have the proportions of 32mm scale Marines like 40K Chaos Marines/Primaris, but the kits themselves look nothing like that. The "better" proportions of the new Heresy Marines are entirely illusory, they just shrank the heads and hands. They are essentially just the Space Marine Heroes line but with smaller heads and hands. The Tale of Painters scale comparison confirmed my suspicions.

I don't NEED anything in this box but I definitely WANT the contents. Tough choice but not sure I'll be buying.

Wish this came out closer to the original release because I'd love to offload some mk6 for mk4.

I also parrot "MK 5 when???". It's heresy armor for a reason!

Regarding fingers:

My brain did not think it was a fifth finger for what it's worth. /shrug

Pleasant surprise and I expect this will sell really well. The Mark IV refresh is overall very solid, I'd have liked to see some more of the variant helmets that we saw in the various original resin kits, and the jump pack being a reused Mark VI is disappointing, but otherwise it basically looks exactly as I'd expected. Will look glorious in purple and it's nice to see such an important pattern refreshed and back in plastic.

The jumbo box having a Sicaran and a Contemptor in it is a bit 'eh' as at this point I have Contemptors than I reasonably know what to do with, and I would have preferred a new Sicaran variant. But for a value box it's still quite nice.

Unsure whether this is going to break into my near-term plans, there's just so much going on, but I'll pick up some Mark IV sooner or later. Hopefully there's a lot more to come for heresy later this year, I'd love to see things like Destroyers, Recon Marines etc hit plastic and refreshed Tartaros as well.

It is probably meant to be in comparison to the jump packs found on Mk2 jump assaults.

I'm sure it was, but it will likely be taken as being in comparison to the older style of Mk IV packs. As an editor myself, this seems like an awkward oversight.

The thing is, if it is the grip, the hand goes down too far. Comparing it to the model, the hand only goes down as far as the lowest finger. In the art, it goes down to the grip/fifth finger. Either way it's an error.
