I don't NEED anything in this box but I definitely WANT the contents. Tough choice but not sure I'll be buying.

Wish this came out closer to the original release because I'd love to offload some mk6 for mk4.

I also parrot "MK 5 when???". It's heresy armor for a reason!

Regarding fingers:

My brain did not think it was a fifth finger for what it's worth. /shrug

Are we supposed to then assume that the gauntlet is intentionally designed to be one finger too long?

I think I am starting to become a bit of a grognard, because with most of the re-design reveals I keep finding myself focussing on the changes I dislike. I am really happy to get MkIV in the new scale, and happy for the frater that like the design changes, it is definitely a good time to be a Heresy collector. The below are my personal grumblings and not an attack on anyone's tastes:

- To start on a positive note, at least one of the advancing poses seems a bit different to the other Mk squads. I am away from laptop and miniatures so I cannot do a full comparison, but even one different pose is a welcome addition.

- I feel the chest cables on the tactical squad are too bulky, and that in general the very distinctive MkIV chest plate, with its sharp angles, is not as prominent and visible as I'd like (I am aware that in most tacticals it will be covered by arms and bolter). The tac squad chests give me almost more of a MkV vibe.

- I am not the biggest fan of the vents on the vambraces, specially when on this iteration the vambraces look more of a reinforcement of the arm armour rather than an integral part of the arms.

- On the assault squad, I have to join the choir of "why not keep the old MkIV jetpack design" rather than giving them the MkVI one. I also wish, like frater sockwithaticket, that they had kept the reinforced chest plate with jump pack cables underneath it like the FW squad, seeing how both MkII and MkVI squads adopted this design. I will be interested to see the sprues and check if it would be easy to scrape the cables to make the chest plate flat, and make the cables at the shoulders and waist look like they go underneath it.

As for the release box, I think it is a really nice bundle, but realistically I have more HH tactical bodies than I know what to do at the moment, and still two plastic contemptors to build (among other HH kits).

Regarding the finger issue, I really hope this is not actually an AI use gone wrong, as I would be disappointed in GW using it when they have always had plenty of artists in their team. Also, I understand the "too many fingers" issue with AI images usually came when it had to create hands from scratch, but wouldn't it be weird that AI would add fingers to an already existing hand, when it is not being asked to create an image but rather apply effects/lighting/weathering to an existing one?

Sometimes when you're doing something like photoshop/drawing your brain goes on auto-pilot and you do weird stuff. I think it's too consistent with their existing 'drawn over' style of HH box art post-2.0 to be AI.

Plus while AI struggles with fingers/anatomy, it would be strange for it to struggle with what is essentially a set of teal rectangles.

I'm just surprised somebody didn't clock it internally.

We can all see the actual bottom of the grip right ?

The harsh silver line that's mostly parallel with the hand plate, with a skull token hanging off

it's really zoomed in.

i also  literally posted the miniature that was being overpainted.

I don't know. I still have my doubts about this. AI or not, someone still made a mistake. Considering they reused the same 5 poses for this box I wouldn't put it past them. The whole Heresy team seem to be phoning it in. Except the vehicle designers, those guys are brilliant (if you ignore the quad heavy bolter).

Just because you disagree with their aesthetic choices, that doesn’t mean they’re not putting in the hours.

I'm liking these but I already have enough tacticals and assaults.

There has got to be a destroyer upgrade sprue on the way for these right? How long after the basic MkIII release was the breacher sprue?

This means there is a greater than 0 chance of eventually getting rescaled Mk 7. Its not high, but its not nothing either. GW had no real reason to rescale these. Yes, they'll make money, but not nearly as much as releasing other kits.

As for the AI image claims, I'm not seeing any other artifacts that would lead me to believe its AI. MAYBE they used AI to take a photo from a physical setup and convert it to a drawing, but AI loves to invent things and they'd have to tune it if they want predictable and repeatable results. Not impossible, but I'd say pretty unlikely.

The most probably cause is an artist copying one too many times under a tight schedule. Yes, artists absolutely copy and paste, and they would have copied each of those fingers, resized them and copied down. Or they copied the hand from a chainsword, where all four fingers would be lined up, then added the trigger finger without realizing the mistake and erasing one of the extra fingers.

It happens.

Honestly I don’t see that big of a difference between new and old MKIV.

Hoping we will see more new units more often now rather then just refreshes.

Yeah, yeah I’m facing the wall already, hurry up and shoot me already.

It becomes quite clear when you see the model they based it on.

I'd say that silver part is the bottom of the grip as it has the icon hanging off it.

They aren't perfect but I like them way better than the current plastic.  I had some current ones and sold them.  THe heads were too big for the bodies.  These scale better for sure.  I do wish they'd put some bonding studs on some of the armor though.

I'm pleased with the glow-up. I think it's a shame the Assault Squad has the Mark VI-style pack, however I can earnestly look past that.

I suspect the Specialist Games Design Studio aren't willing to compromise on rounded studs the same way that the 40k team over at Citadel do. Unless they split the shins into two halves you'd just wind up with weirdly extruded studs.

Does worry me for Mark V though.

Kravek Morne has the leg cut in a way that preserves the studs, which imo is probably how they could do it for MkV, it would just use the space that they would otherwise use for extra vambraces like MkIV and MkIII.

The Third Legionnaire in me is disappointed by the lack of bondage bonding studs.

If they were too difficult to include in the "five Heresy poses", does that bode ill for MkV?

Also agree on the MkIV Jump Pack being pretty iconic, and a little saddened by their absence.

Whilst I agree, it does look like there are five digits above the silver part and the thumb wouldn't be visible from that side due to the grip.

Good, cause that was a big annoyance for me during kit bashing that every model has their weapons in the same hand.

Easily the worst thing about kits. The Berkserker Marine one would've been perfect if it had even a little variation in that regard
