I think it's the paint scheme that doesn't do it. They have always been the working class hero faction for me. They need something more down to earth, less colour,, then I think the minis would really stand out.

Same here. So far I like half of what we have been shown. I might go with a healthy mix of votann and kharadrons to replace what I dislike. Can't wait for more.

I certainly hope so. That would give us three squat variants: the imperium ones, the leagues of Votann, and the xeno-adjacent demiurgs. So much choices.

Of course we have only seen two minies so far, but I still fail to see what flavor they are going for with the squats. The foot soldier looked really futuristic, this one seems like a trowback to WWII aviators, complete with goggles and old fashion shotgun. I wasn't expecting vikings in space, we already have those, but I still feel giving space dwarfs a proper "feel" is not easy. So far the Kharadrons look better for a squat army in my opinion. I'll wait for more.

I hope it is revealed demiurgs and squats are one and the same. These new squats sure look "alien" enough to the imperium mentality for that to be possible. And it woud be nice to have a faction you can use both for and against the imperium.

Love it. Love everything about it, specially the way you mix alusions to Genghis Khan all around. There is never too much White Scar Succesor Chapters around. Great work.

I have high hopes for the fluff. So far, every legion has been covered beautifully, even those I do not care about. All the more reasons to expect great things for the WS. I specially want to know more about the internal organisation and the Khan's relastionship with his brothers and the Imperium at large.

I think that last scene was not a dream, it was the last thing Kasper did before been put into stasis. Russ gave him a last taste of freedom among wolves. So he probably was already in stasis during the Heresy. I doubt we will see him again. His purpose goes beyond the heresy.

The Salamanders, Iron Hands and Raven Guard fluff are specially great for me, since their presence and primarchs have been quite underwelming in the Horus Heresy series. The FW books do them justice and make them fascinating again.

That could be an interesting option. A very good archeotech pistol, superior to other sidearms, but ony a limited number of uses. By the way, do we know the release date for this rulebook?

I believe one interview stated that as 40k was an insane setting, it required temporary insanity to write about. Maybe he was on all of the things, or maybe he was just high on life. That's what I love about Watson's books. You get the feeling that his characters are completly removed from our way of thinking due to the setting being so insane. He wrote that the only way for 40K characters to survive is to be all psychopats. Because only a madman could face the reality of a chaos-infected galaxy without being crushed. A very Lovecraft idea, but inverted. These are not normal humans destroyed by reality. They survive in the 40th millenium because they are already insane.

I specially liked Guilliman's internal debat about the nature of the Emperor, who he now sees for what he always was, a ruthless visonary who never thought of him as a son. Yet, as Guilliman ponders on those questions, he ends up concluding that in a very twisted way, the Emperor may not love anyone, but he does love humanity.

Most likely the Storm Lords since he commanded the Brotherhood of the Storm.

The problem I see is that their compassion, the most notable part of their character, has been overblown. I love Vulkan and the salamanders for it, but if used in a wrong way, you forget that they are compassionate only compared to the other primarchs and legions. They are still genocidal war machines. That fact has to remain in place for the salamanders to have noble hearts without sounding out of place. For me, their compassion means they see humanity as the object of their efforts. Not glory, not power. We need to see them at their most ruthless, engulfed in flames, purging the ennemy, so we can appreciate what it means to be compassionate in such a setting.

I like to imagine that one of the lost primarchs was a defender of human rights and the dignity of the individual. And he went down in imperial history as a failure, most likely deluded, and a disapointment to the Emperor.

Sounds promising. Finally Lorgar gets schooled by Magnus for a change.

Cannibal cossacks eh? You know, our chapters do sound really similar. Maybe they are offshots of each other. Not only do I like what you are doing, but I think you are going in the right direction. Pick two or three general concepts, even if they have little in commun with each other, and play with them. Find the parts that mix better and use them. The result will be more original and will give a unique feeling to the chapter. Start thinking in general events from their history and see how they would react based on what you already have. Damn it, now you are making me doubt! The name of my chapter perhaps could carry more punch. Perhaps their current name is just the working title, until I see if I can come up with something better. Also, I still lack a symbol for them. Something else to think about. Thanks again and good luck with yours.
