Hey guys, I figure it would be great to have a single thread for discussion on Shattered Legion tactics and ideas. This is the dump by Garro from Heresy 30k for those who haven't kept up to date with all the leaks from the Weekender: Black shields is a new version of the legiones astartes rule, and uses the standard legion crusade army list adds +1 to the roll to see who goes first are 'by the emperors/horus's command' allies to legions, and fellow warriors to non-legion army lists may not take praetors, command squads, tactical squads, drop pods, dreadnought drop pods or deathstorm drop pods can't use rites of war, but can use the alternative FoCs. may only take a single consul of any kind must have more vehicles than infantry units may take one or none of the following collections of rules gain FNP(6+) but must pass a leadership test to end the movement phase further away from a visible enemy unit then they started. if test is failed they move D6" towards the closest enemy unit they can see gain +1 leadership and rerolls 1s to hit while within 6" of another friendly blackshield unit, however they may not use the leadership value of other models and suffer D3 casualties if they fail a leadership test in the assault phase in addition to other effects. characters gain preferred enemy instead and can not take chaplains nor ally with other astartes up to half of the infantry units without a dedicated transport gains deep strike but suffers D3 casualties if mishaps in addition to other effects, may take additional wargear options, characters may take rad grenades, after half of the blackshield units have been killed, each turn after, each unit must pass a leadership test or be removed from play may choose one of the following options but may not take allies option 1: +1 str, +1 toughness, -1I, -1" to charge range, may not sweeping advance option 2: +1ws, +1bs, -2ld option 3: gains fear, fleet and rage, -1bs black shields may take a range of replacement wargear options called 'pariah' each confers a bonus over the original wargear, but has a negative attachment as well. won't list them here. may take a blackshield reaver lord, basically a speical praetor with different wargear options, all the basics are there, plus the pariah gear and some others, while some 'fancy' praetor gear isn't. black shields have a named character called 'nemean reaver' who is believed to be a former dark angel, may also be taken as a knight errant and replaces his blackshield special rules for the knight errant rules for a price. main basic squad is the 'marauders' 5-20 basic marines with lots of basic options and 1in5 can take special/heavy weapons Hopefully we can get some more concrete info (i.e. stat lines and wargear) for Marauder Squads soon. My ideas for a Shattered Legions or Black Shields army: A Knight Errant leading a force made up of Loyalist men from the Traitor Legions. Maybe a mixture of survivors from Istvaan 3 that managed to escape. The KE is there to not only reaffirm their loyalty to the Imperium to any other forces they might come across, but also to ensure that they ARE loyal in the first place. He is essentially there to keep an eye on them... I am curious, however, whether the Shattered Legions or Black Shields list fit these guys better? The Marauder Squad does sound very cool - a big Tac blob but with added plasma guns or heavy weapons? Sweet! I would probably also choose the option that increases their WS and BS by 1, but reduces their Ld by 2 in order to show that they're damned tough marines for surviving the Istvaan 3 massacre, but their faith in themselves and their Legion/The Imperium has been shattered. At any moment they could just escape into anonymity on the fringes of Imperial space and leave all the carnage behind them... Personally, I will probably go for the Shattered Legions list and just take two (or three!) HQ's from different Legions and use one of their Rites of War. I'm sure there are many broken/dodgy combinations of Legion Rules and Rites of War that could be abused. Whilst I don't think that's what 30k is about, it's always worth discussing them! I don't know for certain, but I'm imagining if they haven't banned the Iron Hands "Inviolate Armour" legion rule then that's going to be a really popular one to abuse. Take an IH HQ of some description and sprinkle in units from other Legions to taste! I look forward to hearing everyone elses thoughts on these new army lists!

So, I've been doing a lot of work on my Death Guard this year, and in really happy with them. But I always like to have a couple of projects on the go and I do like the idea of an opposed force for my army. I'm a huge fan of Chris Wraight, possibly my favourite BL author at present, and I've been enjoying the White Scars story. Always been drawn to them, but I feel like they havnt had as much love over the years. Anyways, following the fighting between those two Legions on the battle ravaged Prospero, I thought they were a perfect choice. Havnt come up with any fluff or such for them as of yet, and it's dry much going to be a project I do a good job on, so I'm not going to rush painting 3k of models in 2 months again! It is a bit of a daunting prospect, mind; there aren't many White Scars armies on here, and One-Eye's are particularly excellent (to the point I was a little out off starting my guys!). Anyways, here's my tester model, a sergeant for one of my Veteran Tactical squads. I love the changes made to the WS symbol, and that masking has been begging to be put on a White Scar ever since I saw the Autilon Skorr mini. I know some have mentioned before when I started a small Imperial Fists project I tend to over weather, but I like the idea of a mid-battle/campaign army. That and it detracts from the stark white. I'm really pleased with him (though I need to tidy up a few bits like the Legion symbol etc) so I decided after I would use my actual Autilon Skorr model to make a Delegatus/Legion Champion. I'm going to give all my guys Tulwars instead of chainswords, which is just a case of heating the charnabal sabres and bending then around till done. Next step is painting him and building the next 4 guys for the Veteran Tactical squad. Also need to figure out how I'm going to base my Scars. Hope you like! T he world before me is a barren orb of ash, blood, and mud. It is the fifth of it’s kind we have encountered. Lord Guilliman has tasked us with border security, and the 129th obeys. We departed Macragge four years prior, resupplied by her forges, and reinforced by her scholams. One thousand warriors, bearing the double hammers of Tallassar. Four years since we encountered another warrior of our legion. Four years since any news of Terra has reached us. Six years since the Betrayal. Our connection with Macragge has failed us, the technology used to command us, gone. Lord Fidelitas has split the company, assigning my sub-company to follow up on distress beacons set off by our worlds. It is a thankless job, and we have been chasing shadows, having last fired a bolter in anger over six months ago. Mostly, we find a dead world, arcane sigils etched into the dirt. These we raze, I will not have the shame of them blighting the honor of Ultramar. We find some survivors, but they are rare, and often do not survive more than a week, no matter how much we try. The rest are…broken. The warp has twisted their minds in such a way that we often are forced to put them down. There is no war here. Only death and despair. “Ruminations on Betrayal” Sebastus Ixion -Sub-Tribune, 129th Co. XIII, Legio Astartes The 129th company, following rearmament on Macragge, would be assigned by Roboute Guilliman with hunting down and countering the ongoing Shadow Crusade led by Lorgar and Angron. Captain Fidelitas would opt to persecute this mission by pursuing the Chapter of the Ruined King, led by Lord Allant. This blood feud would last the length of the Heresy, and would conclude over a millennia later, with many of the parties involved remembering little, if any of the reason for the initial vendetta. However, that is a story for another time. This chronicle is instead focused on the exploits of Sub-Tribune Ixion and his veteran elite. Ixion would lead a force of about 100 separate form the rest of the company, dealing with various traitor incursions that might threaten the flanks of the company. This action would see them battle various forces under the banner of Horus, including the Warmaster’s own. Referred to as Strike Force Alpha, the warriors under Ixion were some of the 129th’s best void and terminator warriors, renowned for their first strike capacity and armored assaults on the ground. As such, it was something of a shock when the task force was reassigned to Ixion. What to say of Sebastus Ixion? ‘Lion of Tallassar’, ‘Lord of the Void Born’, he was a decorated, if somewhat unremarkable captain of the Thirteenth. Part of the 129th that had been in orbit during the Betrayal, he repelled three waves of Word Bearer assault forces attempting to take the company’s flagship, earning an Iron Halo he wore with pride until his demise. Soft of voice, Ixion was respected, if not particularly well liked by his fellow officers in the 129th, though this had little to do with his abilities, and instead reflected upon the cult of personality Luciel Fidelitas had built around himself prior to his elevation as Senior Captain. Some murmured that Ixion had rankled at the young man being promoted above him, but closed logs from the deciding vote made it clear that Ixion had nothing but respect for the young man who would go on to lead the company into the Scouring and beyond. This account will pick up immediately prior to traitor incursions into the Hadrius System, and will end immediately following the start of the Scouring. It will include multiple interludes, as well as Character profiles depicting important figures from the campaign. This author will not pretend that this account is unbiased. It is written by a survivor of said campaign, and includes various interview profiles taken from Astartes, mortal, and Mechanicum perspectives. More information is available upon request. +++PICT CAPTURE//XIII.CXXIX.FABIAN+++ +++Note: Many XIII Legio companies had began to move towards alternative heraldry as legion forces dispersed throughout Ultramar. This particular scheme is believed to have referred to themselves as the 'Shattered Suns'. Origin is unclear, though possibly a reference to the death of the Veridian star.+++ +++Laurel and Gladius insignia represents void specialist, not surprising considering armament.+++

Hey there, I'm not quite sure if this is the right subforum but I'll ask either way. FWs Retribution introduced the Disciples of the Flame, a Shattered Legion force, which rediscovers and rescues the former Salamanders Legion Master Cassian Vaughn, does a road trip on a prototype ship called the Ebon Drake, supports a Forgeworld against Alpha Legion and Iron Warrior forces, defeats said forces and integrates the remaining IW detachment. While doing so, they start to venerate Vaughn and they even found a cult, which has a lot commonalities with another cult on the mentioned Forgeworlf od Mezoa. But that's it, or not? Everything I found belonged to Retribution and it is stated that the Salamanders themselves purged all of their records which included the Ebon Drake and her crew. Further, all evidences are hidden deep within the chambers of Terra's archives. IMHO, I really enjoyed this part of Retribution. It shows that the Salamnders can be more religious than one might assume. Further, it got a lot of potential in terms of internal struggles within the Legion itself. How would Vulkan react to them? Would the cult further spread its influence? Members of other Legion got attracted as well, even the IW leader became the right hand of Vaughn. Could this cult became a major threat to the AdMech with Vaughn being something like a prophet / entity of the Omnissiah? What might have happened to them? Purged? Becoming blackshields? Even renegades or traitors? Did they evolve into a informal Salamanders successor? Could this cult survive 10K years, only to be brought back by a Primaris force via recruited witnesses / followers? I assume that this is "just" another strand which will never be see its conclusion and which is left open for the fanbase to play with. But I wanted to be sure if there is a short story, an audio, whatever in which they might reappear? Further, if I'd be interested in Shattered Legion stories during the HH, which ones are recommandable? I've read something of an omnibus, is that correct? So overall, what do you guys think of the Disciples? Missed opportunity? Nonsense? Or what? :) Best regards, Kelborn
