XVIIIth Legion Saturnyne Rams (pre-Vulkan Salamanders). Layers for gold or black logo, plus green background layer (use the Layers side panel in Acrobat/Adobe Reader to choose layers). NOTE: The downloadable file here is a sample sheet. The full A5 sheet, due to size, is stored offsite in my decal Google Drive. (Can't believe I never posted this. Prepped it years ago, but apparently kept it private.)-

So i signed myself up for the "other" 20 gamer thread (much like i signed up to the "other" badab thread.. im a rebel like that) and said i'd take on the death guard.. After my compressor decided to kill itself and attempted to kill me when i tried to fix it i ended up off target. So i've decided that the best course of action is to show my shame up front and start a wip thread for these guys.. http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/273/7/f/death_guard_by_typhion-d5gdyta.jpg this is the first guy so far.. originally i was going for a mildly off white with funky grey shadowing and stuff.. but my girlfriend decided to slag it off so one oil wash later and hes a bit browner.. now the main question is "too brown?" or does this guy look suitably like the deathguard as portrayed in the lovely new book? tell me what you think!

WELCOME to my forge this is where i will compile whatever randomocity happens to be inhabiting my desk. Once upon a time many moons ago i finally decided to make that brave step from lurker to Frater, seems like it was only days ago but now i look back in the short time ive been on this site ive accomplished more in my hobby life than in the entire decade ive been working on these wonderful little pastic space men. And this is where i attempt to keep track of it all perhaps eventually i will learn how to do the fancy things some frater do where they put links in this cover page to all of there glorious projects but until then ill just have to try to remember to update this page on a semi regular basis ( note "try" and "remember") Anywho for the next seven months ill be working on my army for the Tale of Twenty Hobbiests. A project im extremely excited about as this will be my first fully painted army!!!! Now i just have to re-learn how to play once its all finished . But im also excited because im exploring a different side of my favorite legion The Salamanders without becoming just another Red Marked Im going to write, build, convert, and paint them to show the legions darker sons those who strayed from the promethean creed for one reason or another. WARNING i never got a grade above a C in English class i make no clames at being a profesional writer in fact i know it needs a lot of work and is now the soul reason i regret not paying more attention in those afformentioned English classes keep that in mind when reading my fluff that its written around a 3rd grade level But if you dont mind my inability to propperly punctuate and my struggles with spelling then carry on as usual or just skip to the pics whatever floats your boat. Hello my fellow plastic and resin crack addicts. I've been trolling the pages here for quite some time. In fact it's where I've gotten a lot of my best ideas, inspiration, and techniques. What with the ETL V going on I've decided it's high time I enter the fray and start contributing to the community that's already given me so much. So on to the good part. This Year for the ETL I'm hoping to bring glory to my beloved SALAMANDERS. For my first vow I wanted to stay on the small side and not bite off more than I can chew. Since having to be an adult five days a week really gets in the way of my modeling. I'm starting with my first veteran tactical squad the only one from my BAC box that will be modeled as such. They will be known as the Helkytes a squad consisting of Istvaan survivors. They're led by a young Veteran Seargeant by the name of Daario Naharis (yes I'm a game of thrones fan as well) who is equipped with a MC power axe and a combi flamer as well as artificer armor wrought by his own hands and a volkite serpenta. Since the squad has been able to re-equip and re-supply the squad is equipped with vexilla, nuncio-vox, and two meltas, and melta bombs and supposing my math is accurate that comes out to 365 pts. Once they are completed they will be joined by the rest of my Istvaan survivors some of whom will be from the iron tenth and some will be sons of deliverance. Anywho that's enough rambling for now it's time for pictures which I will try to post regularly as progress is made any C&C is always appreciated http://s33.postimg.org/ibzc1uzf3/20160605_150824.jpg how to take a screen shot http://s33.postimg.org/5ixpzvyof/20160605_160035.jpg imageupload

No Salamanders army is complete without him... I find he plays very heroically in my games, be it running headlong at artillery or refusing to die against impossible odds.-

A few times now, I've read forums here that talk about Vulkan in a negative light. The general consensus about him and his sons is that they are compassionate and defend humanity even when it's not favorable. Most people here don't think Vulkan is as exceptional as his brothers, I disagree. Vulkan is a warsmith just like Ferrus and Pertarabo, he understands his place in his Father's plan. Like Ferrus, Vulkan had never looked for affection from his Father and carried out his duties with diligence and righteous fury. If anything, he like his brother Ferrus are the epitome of what a Primarch is supposed to be. His compassion and regard for his Father's followers shouldn't be viewed negatively but favorably. Do the Salamanders and Vulkan need to be expanded upon? Absolutely. I believe too that everyone has their favorite Primarch, the typical slayer of beasts and for alike. Russ, The Lion, Dorn. "Damn those that aren't like us, the weakness of the shells disgusts me!" Or something along that lines. In my opinion Vulkan gets mad shade thrown at him for not being like Guilliman or Dorn. What's are your guys thoughts???

I did a similar thread in the Raven Guard subforum theorizing what Corax's stats, wargear, and special rules might look like when he eventually appears in 8th edition. Since Vulkan is my second favorite Primarch and the Salamanders are my second favorite Chapter (the Raven Guard narrowly beat them when I was deciding on a Chapter to play), I figured I'd do the same for Vulkan. Here's my attempt at 8th Edition Vulkan: STATS M BS WS S T W A LD SV 7" 2+ 2+ 8 9 9 5 10 2+ Vulkan isn't very fast, but he's built like a tank. He's been called the largest and physically strongest of the Primarchs, with only Magnus being taller (but Magnus doesn't have the same mass Vulkan does). He's the polar opposite of my vision of Corax. Where Corax survives by not getting hit very often in the first place, Vulkan is going to take the hit, smile, and hit you back twice as hard. His strength and toughness are both toward the upper end of what I figure the Primarch scale will be. SPECIAL RULES First off, we have the special rule that makes Vulkan, well, Vulkan. Perpetual - Vulkan is the only Primarch to have inherited the Emperor's Perpetual nature. He's difficult to kill, and when he does die he comes right back. This trait makes him incredibly difficult to put down. In game terms, he's even more resilient than Mortarion. * Any non-mortal wounds dealt to Vulkan are halved (rounded up) * Vulkan ignores damage dealt on a 5+ * At the start of your turn roll a D6. On a 5+ Vulkan regains a lost wound. Protector of Humanity - Vulkan has a great deal of empathy for mankind, and it shows itself in his protective nature. Because he knows he is in less danger than those around him due to his nature, he is quick to put himself in harm's way to protect those less durable than himself. * If a friendly IMPERIUM unit within 3" of Vulkan is successfully hit, roll a D6. On a 5+ Vulkan will intercept the hit. Unstoppable Advance * When Vulkan advances do not roll a die, he automatically adds 5" to his movement stat. When charging, roll 3D6 and use the 2 highest. XVIII Primarch - Vulkan's incredible craftsmanship is reflected in his sons' wargear. * Friendly SALAMANDERS units within 6" of Vulkan get a +1 bonus to all rolls to wound. WARGEAR The Drake Scale - Vulkan's personally crafted suit of Tactical Dreadnought Armor. * Vulkan has a 3+ invulnerable save. * Teleport Strike rule. * Once per battle Vulkan can use his armor's teleporter to advance and charge in the same turn. However, he cannot fire in the shooting phase if he does so, even if it is an Assault weapon. Dawnbreaker - This thunder hammer was originally crafted as a gift to Horus upon his promotion to Warmaster. However, Vulkan sensed a great darkness in Horus and decided not to give it to him after all. WEAPON RANGE TYPE STR AP DAM SPECIAL RULES Dawnbreaker - Melee Melee Melee x2 -4 5 On a wound role of 6, deal an additional D3 damage. Dawnbreaker - Area Melee Melee User -2 2 Sacrifice your attacks for the fight phase to attack every enemy model within 1" Custom Heavy Bolter 36" Assault 4 5 -1 2 There's my take on what I'd like to see Vulkan look like. I figure with all that, around 375-400 points should be a fair price for him.

From Vulkan Hestan's page 36 of the new supplement: "In the wake of the Great Rift's opening, many believe that the devastating empyric disruption to communications and travel have rendered Hestan's quest impossible. Yet it is in this darkest hour that a fresh clue has revealed itself; an ember burning bright in the dark of the Imperium Nihilus, upon a world named Zero. An ember that hints at the location of the Unbound Flame..." In the book Unremembered Empire. Vulkan's coffin has the words "Unbound Flame" on it. To me this represents him, not that coffin. So I am assuming Vulkan is located on Zero and they will be going to get him. It does make me wonder about the remaining relics and how they will handle those.

Hi all, been a few months since I last posted anything on here but I've still been active in the hobby non the less. I've come back with the intention of building a Demi-battle company but before that I thought I'd start with Vulkan himself circa m41 First of all I needed to take care of the Ultramarines chapter symbol on the shoulder pads with a bit of greenstuff work: Then, seeing as the base model has an overabundance of aquillas as it is I made a little change to the chestplate with a small Wolf skull and some greenstuff horns: Then gave him a bit of a shave :p and also (not pictured) removed the laurel wreath Then, a small addition to the Iron halo that comes with the kit using parts from the torches I then added a drakescale cloak made from greenstuff and shaved off a few details such as the symbol on the knee pad, the number 13 on the belt and the purity seal on his chest plate. I also decided not to include the giant eagle thing on the backpack as I think it made everything a bit too busy. And here's it all painted up, I've gone with a sort of blue lava for the base, (something I'll be carrying over to the rest of the army) for something a bit different to what I'm used to doing All c&c is appreciated and thanks for looking :)
