  1. So for a while I've been toying with SketchUp to make all sorts of models with the idea of 3d printing them and then having them cast. It originally started with some Homeworld inspired ships which then kind of became my interpretation of pre-Imperial vessels: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/LEGION%20ship/Somevariants_zps6b58178e.jpg And the first print: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/LEGION%20ship/2013-11-01115818_zpscf693308.jpg Later on I started working on some other ship models that are more BFG influenced: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/Fleetteaser_zpse59fe328.jpg I've been collaborating on them with Fox Box Games who will produce them. We eventually managed to do a first print thanks to the lovely fellows at the Cardiff University: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/prints_zps8fcda915.png http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/2014-12-02160004_zpsad11030b.jpg And now we're in the process of casting the ships in resin (please ignore the filthy xenos in the background): http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/miscast%20destroyer%201_zpsrbg8wkrb.jpg I currently have four types of escorts (2 destroyers and 2 corvettes) and some boarding pods printed, and hopefully we'll be able to release them later in the summer. Depending on how those will go, I can contemplate finishing up the larger transport ships and maybe also these. Besides ships I've also worked on some more 28mm scaled stuff. Space Hulk and Necromunda have always fascinated me and for a long time I've tried to make a model version of Philip Sibbering's Ecopolis. I eventually moved to something based more on my own ideas, which you can see here: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/Underground%20facility%201.0%20-%20006a_zpskf1dwgwl.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/Underground%20facility%201.0%20-%20006c_zpsvucpmoxc.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/Underground%20facility%201.0%20-%20006b_zps2c2bokgt.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/Underground%20facility%201.0%20-%20008%20equipment_zpsz2zstyix.jpg I still haven't been able to build my own infantry models (yet), but I have been working on designing some equipment for them: http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/Clubs%201.0%20-%20001_zpst5tskn7y.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/Auto%20pistols%20-%20teched%20up%20002_zpsxh3g9ouv.jpg http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/ag77/Stefmanovic/Rifles%201.0%20-%20002_zpse7znj2qy.jpg So yeah...let me know what you think! I'll keep this thread updated with my process as we go along!
  2. New player here, I've just gotten a 3 man Eliminator squad. I'd love to get some opinions on the most useful/effective weapon loadout for these guys before I build them: 1)3 Las Fusils? 2)3 Bolt Sniper Rifles? 3)2 Las Fusils + Bolt Carbine Sgt? 4)2 Bolt Snipers + Bolt Carbine Sgt? As I understand it the Carbine Sgt. exchanges a little firepower for some movement abilities. FWIW I'm very flexible...the only other units I have so far are the Dark Angels Combat Patrol(Redemptor Dread, 3 Inceptors, Intercessor squad, Chaplain). I'm not necessarily planning to play as DA, it is a custom chapter and I'm most intrigued by Gladius(versatility?), Vanguard(movement?), or Ironstorm(rolling thunder?) detachments.
  3. New player here that is building and painting a custom SM chapter using the Dark Angel combat patrol as my foundation kit. Zero games played yet. I've got the chaplain and intercessors(I equipped them with the auto bolters) built and painted. Next up are the 3 inceptors and the redemptor dreadnought - so before I start to glue stuff, what is considered the most effective weapon loadout for these units? (fwiw I'm new and don't know if I want to mess with magnets quite yet. Baby steps...)
  4. Given the vast array of missiles, bombs, pods, and other exotic options available to modern combat aircraft; I felt the offerings in A.I. was in need of some expansion. Eventually, I plan to include sketches and line-drawings (inspired by Iron Hands Fanatic's Heresy work). *Fair warning, nothing has been playtested yet. Mars-Pattern "Misericord" Short Range Air-to-Air Missile Colloquially named after the dagger/badge-of-office carried by the Emperor's Custodes, the Mars-Pattern SRAAM was presented to the Imperial Navy's Admiralty in response to their (repeated) petitions to the Fabricator-General for improved close-range ordnance. Recovered from a previously over-locked data tomb in the Hellas Basin, the STC for the 'Misericord' was blessed and canonized in a remarkably short period of time, taking only 50 years from discovery to production. The 'Misericord' combines a broad-angle thermal-seeker, an exceptionally cunning and bellicose cogitator, and improved connections to the standard Imperial Navy fighter fire control systems (particularly helmet sights) to offer exceptional high-off-boresite capability. Additionally, such is the wrath of the missiles' machine-spirit that it denies all but the most devious of enemy countermeasures. Thrust-vectoring, and a highly-aggressive propulsion system, allow the missile to rapidly accelerate and manuever, even to intercept targets almost directly behind the launch platform. Unfortunately, this leads to tradeoffs in the form of reduced flight time, as the rocket motor greatly favors the initial boost over sustained acceleration. Additionally, the large explosive warhead favored by Imperial pilots is replaced by a much more modest fragmentation system. System Name Arc FPR DMG Ammo Special Pair of 'Misericord' SRAAMs Any except Rear 3-0-0 5+ 1 Aerial Attack, Extra Damage (6+) Points Cost: 8 per pair, only available to Imperial Thunderbolt air-frames (at this time). Designers Notes: established points cost; reduced Ammo and Damage stats; limited availability, though not currently limited to only once per a/c <Originally proposed profile> System Name Arc FPR DMG Ammo Special Pair of 'Misericord' SRAAMs Any except Rear 3-0-0 4+ 2 Aerial Attack, Extra Damage (6+)
  5. Getting my army planning underway. I need a little help deciphering the specifications and assembly manual. Refer to Codex page 93 (CX), Refer to Instruction pamphlet (PA) PA, 5-11, step 6: C120. That is a Autoch-pattern bolt pistol ? C121. That is the same weapon as C120 ? C117. That is a Autoch-pattern bolter? C118. That is another Autoch-pattern bolter, (not pistol)? C102, C103, C122. Those are all each Plasma Sword, and Plasma Axe? C123. Is that a Gravitic concussion grenade? PA 5-11, step 8: C113, C115, C116. Those are both Autoch-pattern pistols? Different variants of a pistol? C114. That is a EtaCarn Plasma Pistol? C109, C110. Those are Plasma Sword and Plasma Axe, (if so, then what are C102, C103, C122)? PA 5-11, step 9: C7, C8. Those appear to be same weapon as C118, C119? PA 5-11, step 13b: C17. That's a HYLas Auto Rifle? PA 5-11, step 14b: C27. That's an Ion Blaster? PA 5-11, step 15b: C37. What is that? PA 5-11, step 16b: C46 + C47. How do I tell if that's a L7 Missile Launcher Focused or Blast? PA 5-11, CX page 93: I'm having trouble trying to find a specimen of EtaCarn Plasma Pistol EtaCarn Plasma Beamer Ion Pistol Magna-rail rifle. Thanks in advance.
  6. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ATTENTION - URGENT TRANSMISSION FROM THE ADEPTUS ADMINISTRATUM. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- In this article I will address the best weapons both in regards to effectiveness and efficiency Vs different unit types. Weapons that appear on both the effective and efficient list will be deemed the 'most optimal' weapon vs this unit type. The efficiency has been deduced by finding the cheapest way of taking said weapon and dividing the points of the chosen unit by the damage output. To get around the issue of one-shot weapons I divide the efficiency value by the number of rounds of shooting I can do with a weapon (up to a value of 5). The effectiveness was calculated from the amount of wounds caused from the selected weapon/s from the minimum size of unit chosen .
