I really haven’t got much to say other than that the second dreadnaught is underway. So here are some pics:

The primer left a slightly powdery texture on the mini. Nothing major, but it's there. Can't really do anything about it, just wanted to say that I hate spraycans.

Cheers!

Wow. ;)

Your painting is absolutely amazing!!!!

It looks so simple but I cna see how much work goes into it, I have to say that you have done incredibly well sir.

Also the light 'bleed' effect really gives them a sense of realism, I was wondering how do you do it? Or where did you learn it from because I'd love to be able to do it!

Hey, your models rock socks off! ;)

Was just wondering (and sorry if you have already said but it one hell of a long thread and I might have missed it). How do you paint that boney-white armour (more specifically on the dread as he looks more boney, which is what i want-deathwing you see)? I have been looking for ages for a good way to get bone/near-white-but-not-white armour without it being a 3-step basecoat, ink, drybrush job, I want them to be classy.

Also if you are willing, could you do a step by step of it with pics?

If you've already done all this, could you tell me where to find it please.

Thanks guys.

For the white, look here at page 18. But it is a constant progress with little changes for subtle effects. Like, for the new dread i have glazed a super thin coat of sunburst yellow on the top armourplates (not shown yet, will have to take new pics but havn't got the time to do that tonight). If you have any questions, just ask.

For the bleeding effect i'm not sure what you mean? Is it the glowing eyes/plasma-thing? If so, serach the tutorial section over at coolminiornot....a french guy wrote it, but his name has slipped my mind ( i think it might be cyril). I'm in a hurry now so i haven't got the time to search it for you. But i follow the principles lay out by him ( basicly, paint some thin coats of your deired colour on nearby edges and so on and paint the source of the glow in a brighter colour, but read it and you'll see)

Cheers!

hey Desert Eagle, sorry i havent checked your thread in awhile but man youve been busy ~grins~ i love the latest Dreadnought youve painted and your incredible expertise with a brush is apparant in every model you paint. the colours have a huge amount of depth and makes each model stand out a great deal. the glowing helmet lenses are particularly well realised as is the overall armour colour and the bases are all top notch. its nice to see youve been quite busy building up your army to such high standards.

out of interest are you using the DA Codex for gaming or a modified 5th Ed.Codex Space Marines??? anyways i look forward to your next posts.

take care mate

Wow, thanks a lot guys. I might have a proper update ready for tomorrow…I’ve had a couple of glares for not giving any love for my bikers, especially from the players more familiar with my work on a Swedish forum where the thread is titled the biker club Desert Eagles. So I figured I had to do something about that. But for now I just want to answer the questions.

Kanan: Yeah, I use the Dark Angel codex. At first, I didn’t like the book at all, but I actually appreciate the codex more for every day that passes. I do okay with it. Guess it could use some tweaks to be more in line with 5th edition, but I find that the models I want to use and my style of play fits with the DA codex.

Besides, you Dark Angel players are such great and friendly lads!

Aekold: The techmarine is put on hold I’m afraid. From the top of my head, the bolter arm is composed of a terminator arm, the stormbolter from the drop pod, some apothecary bits like the drill and the targeter lens thingy is from the ravenwing sprues.

Cheers!

Brother chaplain ginn: Thanks mate! England is still quite far away. I would love to go to a gd some day, but whenever that would happen is in the stars .

Sword brethren: Haha, yeah, well, it’s actually working against me in another fashion as I remove unpainted minis as casualties first unless I really really need, let say a chainfist alive. But thanks!

So, like i said earlier i have started to paint a bike. I’m not entirely happy with the pics as some of the more subtle colours are washed out. For instance, it doesn’t really show that the exhaust have a slight red tone to them where they bend….as if they got hot from turboboosting around the field. Well, well. Lots unfinished as you can tell, and some of the white needs a bit more contrast in the “black lining”. Like the hand holding the steering bar. But I actually think this biker could turn into the best thing I have painted as I’m very satisfied with the parts that indeed are finished and it’s fun to start working on some bikes again.

Also here is a finished terminator with assault cannon and two of his squad mates have had some changes done to them once again (hehe, this is the second time I’m switching parts around) This squad is all but done now and is a set up I will use. I’m quite happy with them this way. The heavy flamer is moved to another squad that is still lot more wip, but I felt an assault cannon is a better match for the apothecary than a heavy flamer.
