The Angelus Sanctus
I'm not sure if i should even ask how long it takes you to paint an IH :) I swear you must be painting these models in less than an hour or something! Great work as always Kik :P The combat squad i assume are the AoBR marines right? I assume you filed off/removed the tactical squad marking on the shoulder pad? Brother Iron Handed
great looking stuff mate, im not looking forward to the filing off of the right shoulder guards on mine. gonna be another annoying little job Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1838430 Share on other sites
kikkala
@wiplash I see... I hope that it's acceptable that I do them with 5 wings, so I can use them to drop other than dreads... @NemFX Maybe I use Rotnak as nickname :D. @Navigator Thanks mate :). @captain_shrike Hehe, take your time making up your mind, but I say you're persuaded to IH... ;) @GoldenAvenger Those names are really good, thanks for sharing them :D. @Asmodeus' Swordhand Thank you :). @TAS Weeeelll... painting doesn't take that much time, but those flashes and mold-lines take a lots of time. I don't even say how much gray hair I got when I removed those tactical markings . @Captain Mick Thanks mate. @Brother Iron Handed Right on :). Phew, 3 more RAF marines finish'd, making the squad 8-man now. Ferrus Manus
Very cool as always. Any chance of an updated full army shot? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1838884 Share on other sites
kikkala
Thanks Ferrus Manus. I could take updated army pic after this squad, but the army pic could look better if I'd take it after I finish the 1850 points worth of them ;). (also, I hate taking army pics, I need to do a wobbly tower from cans and stuff to have steady place for the camera :() 9th marine done, he's somewhere in the squad :P. I gotta say, that I feel proud of myself right now, as I'm now able to do good looking models short period of time. It took me 1.5 months to do one squad of marines last year, and they look like crap (you can see them yourself, just suffle 20-ish pages back). And now I've painted almost full squad on 6 days, with good tabletop quality! *sniff* I'm so proud of myself. I call this phenomenom progress ;). Oh, almost forgot, Kantor proxys current name is: Iron Father Karon Capek, nicknamed "Rotnak". Thanks to NemFX and GoldenAvenger for the names :). That deadline gets closer and closer :D. @Marek Grimfang Thank you :). @Iron Corsair Even though it's not february yet, thanks for the encouragement anyway :woot:. @TAS Still I wish that I could've done more :P. There isn't enough time in the world.... @aekold Will do, thanks :). Speaking of time, I didn't have enought today. I was only able to kitbash the sarge. <grumble> Looks familiar somehow, dunno why ;). kikkala
Aaand done. 3rd squad in its full glory. What's next? Here a list of stuff I haven't finished and what I need for the tournament. - 5-man Assault Terminators squad - 2 Ironclad Dreadnoughts - 3 scratchbuilt Drop Pods - 3 scratchbuilt Rhinos - repainting other tactical squads bases Time to lift my lazy ass and get to work! Oh, speaking of terminators... Anyone ever scratchbuilded thunder hammers? Just asking... :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1843288 Share on other sites
son of nocturne
Bloody hell Kikk! When is this tournament!!! Actually at the speed that you paint and build i imagine its next weekend! :P typically as im doing a bulk upload on photobucket i see this post, ive tried doing a couple of thunder hammers, a good start is a melta bomb with either a bit of styrene rod or a bit of soulder stuck in the side, then go mental with green stuff... i'll get some pics up soon... :P S.O.N. Ooh and models are looking cracking by the way! As usuall! ++Pics up of the ammo thing now as well!++ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1843395 Share on other sites
hendrik
Anyone ever scratchbuilded thunder hammers? Just asking... :P dunno wether to take this serious but you could make the thunderhammers cartools like this http://www.toolspecial.com/images/86.jpg or, sculpt all of them a servo harnas that counts as a thunderhammer;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1843452 Share on other sites

The Angelus Sanctus
I swear dude, you are a machine!! :D Nice work on the 3rd squad. Had you not said anything i wouldn't have thought them to be AoBR marines  Looking forward to seeing what you do for the Terminators, however, it's looking great already! :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1844120 Share on other sites
Captain Pugno
Hi did you use Tin Bitz for your trimmings? Great models and a nice looking army Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1844685 Share on other sites
kikkala
@son of nocturne Hehe, thanks mate. The tournament is held Feb. 21.-22. so I still have enough time to slack off :). Good ideas for the t-hammer. @hendrik Wrenches as weapon? Sounds RT-era to me :(. Servo-arms would be too easy way doing it, unless I get really desperate, I'll go with servo-arms :). @lord_bunny Thanks, glad ya like them :). @TAS But isn't machine the thing what every Iron Hands aspire to be? ;) @Captain Pugno I used Tin Bitz as basecoat, where I started drybrushing next colors. You can check the recipe from my tutorial (link on my sig). Damn it. I tried to copy the sledgehammer style from the real thunderhammers. Didn't work out. Instead I'll do different type of (counts-as) thunderhammers, for example: axe. Asmodeus' Swordhand
Personally I think this is better than the 'sledge' style. Snozz
I love your use of plasticard, I need to get me some stuff that isn't as flimsy as what I've got at the moment. Ferrus Manus
Agreed, the Thunder Axe is ace. What's on the shield? Can't quite see the design. kikkala
@Asmodeus' Swordhand Will do , thanks. @Snozz Hehe, plasticard is must! What thickness is your plasticard? I often use 0.5mm or 1mm :P. @TAS Thanks buddy :). Glad ya like it. @Ferrus Manus The thing on the shield is Iron Hand logo :). Well, it's supposed to be... :D Phew, painting progress with the termie. He's getting basic shapes for markings and such. And what do you think about the axe? I could've finished him, but I'm dead tired. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1846367 Share on other sites
Snozz
Must be like 0.25 mm. It's really not helpful. :D He looks fantastic, keep it up. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/125973-iron-hands-of-irony/page/20/#findComment-1846372 Share on other sites
