Bok bok, chicken's done. Pics are a bit washed out, skin's more purply IRL. Needed the green on the wings, the purple just didn't look right without it. He goes back to his owner tomorrow, I'll miss him. T_T

Cpt. Salvatore: Those voices in your head? Listen to them. ;)

Muller: Armor, eh?

That's my current "To-do" pile - 3 Defilers, a Baneblade, a Land Raider, a Vindicator, 2 laspreds and a dreadnought. It all needs converting. Also 20 cultists, a FW Nurgle Preacher (think Cultist overseer), 10 Possessed, 6 Havocs and 3 aspiring champions (2 of which are finished and shown above). Local club's having a Tanksgiving apocalypse game towards the end of next month so I'm gonna be trying to get at least the Predators done by then, fingers crossed for actual progress. :P

I just ordered a lightbox so you can say goodbye to all the crappy paper-and-desklamp pictures from me. Will try to get ahold of the Chicken when the box arrives and get better pics. And I just got my third Hellblade, not sure exactly when I'll start working on it but I'm excited to fill the squadron out to 3.

And I'll just leave this right here. -_-

EDIT: I accidentally posted a pic of the Chicken there. Oops. :P

Im so jealous, I want a warhound. But I just got zhufor so im happy.

The chicken looks good, loads of colours overload this eyes like tzeench should.

Also no rhinos !!! I have 5 in my army thats about 1/3 the size of yours. Guess thats the downside of 12 man squads.

Sorry for the long delay between updates - I just haven't felt like doing much recently, and I feel guilty posting if I don't have something pretty to show. I painted up some Possessed for a local event a couple weeks ago, but I rushed them (I painted 12 models in four hours) so I'm gonna go back and strip 'em. I feel that I really need to do them justice after reading First Heretic. Speaking of which I read it in a day - was completely unable to put it down. Everybody go read it if you haven't already done so. A D-B, you're my hero, can't wait for Calth.

Ordered 2 more Vindicators and 2 more Predators so I built those - my motor pool is as big as it's gonna get at this point, give or take a Land Raider. Mostly been sculpting up more Chaos Marine legs - got enough FB Warrior bodies to finish the whole Cohort, and I've sculpted on all the boot plates. I've just been trying to force myself to work on the greaves. It's been going slowly - I've got 20 down and 40 to go. I want to get that all out of the way so I can actually paint my army without always worrying about sculpting up the next squad, but I'm not letting myself do anything else until this is done. So the Warhound isn't getting done for a while. It is, however, built, although I've left off the leg armor for ease of painting. Pics eventually - I need to clear off a space for photography again.

Darius - In response to the footslogging question - I really don't play very often, so I'm probably not the best person to ask, but I'd say if you generally roll pretty well and aren't in an area full of mech lists, you should be able to get away with it most of the time depending on how you play it.

Hey man, don't pressure yourself to model anything unless you're really feeling it. Take time to relax and recharge your batteries. I find when I rush a project i don't do it justice and end up going back and working on it again or re-doing it.

Rule #1 Enjoy making your cohort.

Dude, unbelievable, somebody linked this to a reply on BOLS and i clicked it just to peek and an hour later i am still ooglin over your WB, and had to create a profile just so i could let you know how awesome it is! Your work with the Green Stuff is uncanny, and i usually don't like the casualties and dyin people on the bases and stuff, but the way you tied them in is really fantastic, and adds alot to the overall look and feel. Hats of to ya bud, you've got one heck of an army there.

how... on... earth... do you have the money for all of this? and the time for that matter

all that greenstuffing, converting. etc.

it's ridiculous

but awesome, these are some of the best PA miniatures i've ever seen (if not the best)

utterly awe inspiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well done!!!!!!

keep them coming!

It looks like someone committed threado-mancy, but this is one of few occassions where this is something good. If I had the honor of serving in your cohort, even merely in the fluff, it would be... There are no words as to how great it would be.

When I eventually write the tale of Dark Apostle Thirst, this Host will not be forgotten, but remembered, and honored as justly due.

There is no advice I can give you, save continue your art.

Sweet Word Bearers dude, loving the conversions and greenstuff.

And just to be completely off topic, I just noticed the other day that in the Chaos Space Marines Codex (I like to call it Codex Renegades for it has nothing to do with the Traitor Legions) that towards the front, in the area where it has illustrations of various warbands and traitors, it shows no Word Bearers but all of the other Traitor Legions are there... The Word Bearers got snobbed...

I LIVE!

My apologies for the long absence these past 10 months, brothers. I kind of burnt myself out for a while there - I didn't feel like painting at all for the longest time. I haven't been entirely idle, however - I'd been working on a Lascannon Predator on and off for months. I finally finished it a few weeks ago and, in light of an upcoming local Apocalypse league, I immediately set to working on a second one, which I've also finished. I'd've posted sooner but I've been having some trouble with my lighting setup. Anyway, pics!

I've also done up four plasmagunners to go with the Power Weapon champions I posted forever ago.

gallery_39401_2771_154932.jpg

Yes, that's a "Totally Worth It" marine. With (drybrushed) source lighting!

gallery_39401_2771_157677.jpg

Also, I got a bit dissatisfied with my Raptor Champion's head. Decided I didn't really like the mutated Possessed head with the weird antennae, so I cut it off and gave him a helmetless head. Pardon the dust, he's been on a shelf for a while.

gallery_39401_2771_69806.jpg

Now for WIPs. I've had this guy sitting around forever, he's meant to be a Cultist overseer, based on the Corpse Cart necromancer.

gallery_39401_2771_38590.jpg

I've started work on a Dark Mech'd-up Techmarine. I've wanted to use Huron's axe arm on one of these forever. The servo-arm I've cut off is going to get replaced with one of the Possessed arms, and I'm thinking of fleshifying the whole harness. He also may or may not get more of a robe. Can't quite see them in the pic, but under the hood I sculpted in 3 eye lenses. Looking at other companies' models for Servitors, Dark Age has some fun stuff. I've also acquired Fabius Bile's backpack so that may be going towards a Word Bearer apothecary (I like "chirurgeon").

This is the thing I'm most excited about at the moment:

gallery_39401_2771_80174.jpg

Working on a mk2 of my Dark Apostle. Been wanting to do this for a while, really wanted to get a bit closer to the "Daemonworld" image from the Word Bearers' page in the 3.5 codex. Also wanted to experiment with truescaling some more. Very WIP, most of the GS you can see here is a foundation for me to sculpt over. I'm planning on sculpting the breastplate around the Terrorgheist rider's head from the new Zombie Dragon kit.

Again, sorry for not posting for so long. I've just started work on a third Hell Blade fighter, I'll have pics up for that soonish. Been getting a lot of painting done on Fridays recently so updates should center around that.

Welcome back Raz! ( that's one hell of a return post )...

As usual your work is simply stunning.....Love the preds, the "totally worth it" csm is ace, your Dark Mech is sick, can't wait to see that painted and your DA makes me want to cry, hehe...Absolutely incredible work...

Hope your back for a while and we'll get to see more of your work....

Yes! It's not a second updateless threadomancy! :HQ:

The only minor nit-pick is that the two predators are remarkably similar in construction, but on that note, the phrase "if it's not broke don't fix it" springs to mind :)

Thanks guys. I actually have a bit more to show already, they'd gotten a bit buried on my desk. Was doing conversion work on a 2nd CC squad consisting almost entirely of dioramas, stopped working on them before I started painting the first laspred. Dunno when these guys are getting painted - I don't have anything fancy planned for my second Raptor squad or my two plasma squads, and I've also hit a bit of a brick wall in terms of conversions - kind of running out of ideas for CSM-related Guardsman deaths. Wanted to fill the squad with dioramas but I'm not sure I'm going to. Also, I'm very aware that I have some serious mold lines to remove on these guardsmen - that'll happen before they get painted.

So, an arm-rippy marine

gallery_39401_2771_157885.jpg

Second flamer (still WIP - Guardsman's hand either needs repositioning or a lasgun - probably a lasgun, really should've thought of that before I started sculpting, but I'll get one on there yet. Also probably going to add a bit more fire)

gallery_39401_2771_145973.jpg

This guy started out as a Chaos Marine grabbing a guardsman's face and crushing it, but it just looked like he'd punched him so hard his head exploded. I decided I quite liked this, and left it that way.

gallery_39401_2771_153735.jpg

A chainsword beheading.

gallery_39401_2771_159035.jpg

This fellow is ripping out a guardsman's heart. KALI MA, and so on.

gallery_39401_2771_75851.jpg

gallery_39401_2771_153538.jpg

And a dude pulling out a guardsman's spine (and taking the head with it) - I believe I said I'd do something like this forever ago, possibly with a terminator, but I kind of wanted to do it with a standard marine. The spine bit is from the Vampire Count with the big wing. For some reason, the model has what looks like its own spine extending out of the back of its neck. Not only did it look a bit silly but it made it difficult to fit the head onto the model without bumping into the wing. I figured I'd put it to better use here. Not sure how I feel about the gore explosion out of the guy's back, but I'm definitely keeping the "trail" from the spine.
