Long, long time coming, but here it is - How to Make an Actual Scale Space Marine Tutorial.

I'd originally intended to post it on the forums, but it's turned into quite a beast, so I've just devoted a page on my website to it. It's most certainly in need of tweaking, but I think it's ready for public viewing.

Feel free to comment, criticise, question and suggestion.

I suggest working with terminator chests. They are bigger and require less green work.

I'm inclined to disagree regarding the use of Terminator chests. They're a different shape and the collar's completely different. Plus, there's still GS work required to make it fit.

These Look Great Lamenter!!

Your GS is Consistent and the scale of what your trying to achieve is Epic..

But Alas Ive come to Knit pick...

Your Grenades Man!! With all you done with these guys it seems odd to me that not only have you missed Mold lines on a number of them but you have used them as the Odd shaped blocks they are casted as Instead of cutting them apart and placed them individually .. Which I Must admit is a Pet peeve of mine so please Ignore all the Ranting Over Tones included in my intended constructive Critique..

Again these look great Lam.. Ill be looking over your Tutorials with much Interest..

Finally managed to finished off the Terminator Squad I've been working on for the last month or so.

The client had requested 6 Terminators in Actual Scale with a variety of armaments to be magnetized. There are 6 Storm Bolters, 4 Power Fists, 1 Chainfist, 1 Power Sword, 1 Assault Cannon, 1 Heavy Flamer, 1 Cyclone Missile Launcher, 4 pairs of Lightning Claws, 6 Thunder Hammers and 6 Storm Shields. In all I used 96 magnets in the squad, with each shoulder pad being magnetized also, so that only the arms are swapped out. The positioning of the magnets proved very tricky, but the results are well worth it.

Because the clients chapter has a lion theme to it, I added a lion head and mane as a trophy on the sergeant and sculpted a lion emblem on the chest of one of the squad members. There may be a few changes as I still need the clients approval, but otherwise the squad is finished.

read page 1.... "hmm interesting..that assault marine looks phenomenal"

read page 2.... " , there's some really sweet stuff going on in this thread, i wonder if there's more.."

read page 3.... "is this guy for real? :P "

read page 4.... for one of the first times EVER, I think i literally had my jaw drop open at looking as how perfectly well these conversions were. it's like you took exactly what the land raider and space marines should look like, and made them in real life.

:P

well done sir, well done.

looks awesome lementer. any chance we can see the lion maned sarge I'm curious now.

Sorry I have no other pics (already sent models to a very happy client), but you can see the lions head on the sarge model.

Got an update coming real soon. Thanks for the comments, hope I can keep you all interested.

I've decided I'm gonna enter the B&C competiton with an Artscale Marine Character. Right now I'm torn between Fabius Bile and Mephiston, so I think I'll tinker with both and just enter one, when I decide which one I like the most.

WE WANT MORE

Sorry I've taken so long, but I've finally managed to drag myself away from other distractions.

Here's the first pic of Huron Blackheart commission. It is based off of the artwork by Klausmasterflex featured in the BoLS Badab War supplement, the directions from the client was to have him striding forward. This is the second attempt at this model, the first I was so unsatisfied with I did a complete restart. I've also taken this apart twice to get the striding pose right, but I'm pretty pleased with the pose now. Most of the upper body is currently tacked together. The basic shape is there now, just need to work on the detailing. I wanted to scratch build a highly detailed power fist at some point, and this will be a great place to try.

As one of the many people who could not do any better myself, I am not going to criticise your work, I am simply going to say that you have done an awesome job and I will be following your website closely.

Keep the updates coming.

So here he is, very near completion. I have a sculpted cloak to attack to his backpack (somehow) and a Hamadrya yet to sculpt but otherwise Huron is pretty much finished. I left off the feline skin trophy he has draped over his shoulder in the illustrations, because I think it'll interfere too much with the model as it is and likely won't look very good on the finished model. There are some minor differences between the model and the artwork but it's a fairly close finish.

*More pics on my Blog for those who are interested*

Taking a look at the model shown in the Bell of Lost Souls Badab War supplement, there's a striking similarity to this model. This is entirely coincidental, but a coincidence I find rather pleasing none the less. I've yet to see how well I can sculpt the Hamadrya familiar. If it's not up to scratch I will leave it off in favour of GW's own model.

I think I can honestly say this is one of my better conversions so far, but there are certainly elements I know I can improve upon.
