khairney
Here's a thought...a maori tribal tat. The maori were not cannabals, but the tat would work well, i think... dude, maori warriors were cannibals. "And where is your father? He is cooked. And where is your brother? He is eaten. And where is your wife? There she sits, a wife for me. And where are your children? : There they are, loads on their backs carrying food as my slaves." - Speech given by a Maori warrior to the dried severed head of an enemy chief. not only does this highlight the assumed tastyness of enemies, but its also entirely bad-ass! seriously! i like the thought of the maori tatts, im actualy using them for my mortifactors. as for the chainaxe/crozius argument, i think it would be awesome to see a mix of the two! it would be a bitch to make it look right, but i think an insanely awe-inspiring ornate work of chain propelled teeth to inspire the troops to more balls-out feats of kick-assery would be awesome! MagicMan
Chain axe blades instead of the crozius wings? I like it. That'd look sick. GooseDaMoose
Thanks for the feedback guys, and it's a good idea, but I have no idea how I'd go about doing that. Besides, I'm pretty happy with just a chainaxe that he took from a Khornate Champion. So here he is, ready to kick the butt of Imperial lap-dogs and Chaos' slaves alike: http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/ChaplainAzrael002.jpg "Power to the people, yo!" http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/ChaplainAzrael004.jpg There are still minor tweaks to be made, like the end of his chainaxe handle there. On another note, I'm participating in maverike_prime's Conversion Challenge 5: Counts-As Azreal and I strongly encourage everyone who likes converting to join in! This is my entry so far: http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/ChaplainAzrael006.jpg And his Falx of Secrets: http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/ChaplainAzrael008.jpg In game terms I'm gonna just play him as a sergeant probably, but fluff-wise he's Brother-Captain Laerza, who hasn't received captaincy of his own company yet, and for the moment is leading Batko's Berzerkers or Devastators. I haven't decided <_< C&C welcome! hushrong
The conversion is pretty cool and I like the stance. Your chaplain is looking good too. Will he be holding trophies in his balled fist? As for the axe, it does look cool and fitting that he take it from a fallen, heretical foe. The dual chainaxe idea sounds cool and all you would need is an identical chain axe preferably. Just cut it where the axe meets the motor block(i think its the motor) and glue it onto your current one. Then I would think you should extend the length maybe to make it look like a two-handed weapon and GS some kind of design on the motor block as well. A drawback to this is that it would look like too much. Also, looking at the skull, might I suggest GS'ing some helmet paraphernalia? Basically take a look at a loyalist helm(mk7) and kind of sculpt the side "ears", the pipes by the jaw, and the vent on the top of the head. It would add some nice detail. Terminatorinhell
I think its from the Chaos Termie sprue. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213040-sons-of-malice-batko-blacks-7th-company-a-wip-project/page/5/#findComment-2603946 Share on other sites

subtlebrush
First, your SOM are excellent! Second, are you playing them with the Loyalist list or Chaos? GooseDaMoose
And lo have I returned. Happy New Year everyone! I have started my first days of 2011 with the very aptly named Winter Vomit Virus (now with 35% more vomit!) and although I wish I could say I'm over it, I doubt an update of anything will be coming for a while.. @hushrong A double-headed chainaxe would be mighty cool indeed but FAR too big for my chaplain. The span of the head would probably be about 3/4 the actual length of the model itself so I hope you'll forgive me with sticking with the smaller chainaxe-head :P The reason his "helmet" doesn't have any piping or vents is because it's supposed to be a little bit ambiguous whether or not that is his helmet, or if he's been in service of Malal for so long that his natural face has become a leering skull instead. "Even following Malal is an act of self-destruction, for the relationship between follower and patron is parasitical - servitude draining the very soul of the devotee until it withers away." (Lexicanum on Malal) So the idea is that he's been following Malal for so long that his face has warped completely, symbolizing his soul "withering away." @Mick Thank you again, sir! @Ludovic, Terminatorinhell is correct, it is from the Chaos Terminator sprue, and (in case anyone's wondering) the Terminator's head is from the old(?) Empire Knights sprue. @Grimdarkness Thank you for the kind words! I really hope I manage to finish them! :( @Mr.Malevolent Thank you very much, and I'm not entirely sure yet. I half intend for them to be legal as both Chaos and Loyalist, but I haven't played the game in many, many years so my knowledge is a bit outdated. I do intend to have certain troops that only one or the other can have like Scouts and Berzerkers, but hopefully it'll work out. I'm mainly doing this to get a good-looking army though. Dark Apostle Thirst
I think the haft of the Thunder Hammer (Thunder Hammer/Relic Blade combo? +1 Strength, strikes last, power weapon, stuns enemy and has powerfist effect on vehicles?) is a little too weedy, along with the hammer head. It just doesn't look large enough to justify using it two handed. The Khârn chaplain... I like :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213040-sons-of-malice-batko-blacks-7th-company-a-wip-project/page/5/#findComment-2607441 Share on other sites
malika666
Will you give the Brother Captain a weird variant/parody of a Watcher of the Dark to make him fit more as an Azrael stand in? GooseDaMoose
@DarkApostleThirst I hear ya man, the haft isn't ready yet it needs some more greenstuffage. However with the head of the maul I wanted a smaller piece as I was inspired by the Maul weapon in Diablo II that has a pretty small head compared to the length of its haft. The idea is that it's some incredibly dense and heavy material that can destroy pretty much anything wihtout a need for a power source, which is why it's two-handed. @malika666 I was actually thinking about it for a while. What would you suggest? Like a monkey butler or something? ;) For anyone interested, I've made the LPC vow to finish my Tac and Assault Squads, as well as painting up ol' Chaplain Deathwhisper and updates will be made here. As soon as I get some basing sand I will begin undercoating the models. malika666
Maybe not a monkey, but what about some sort of servitor? Kind of akin to the Cenobytes who follow that Black Templars special character. You could have some creature made from a plastic ghoul model with a lot of bionics and let him carry the combi bolter or something! ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213040-sons-of-malice-batko-blacks-7th-company-a-wip-project/page/5/#findComment-2612237 Share on other sites
hushrong
A monkey butler in 40k...must be one tough primate. I'd suggest using the little bugger from the Terminator lord Box. If you do make a lil weapon holder and want a body of the lil' guy I have an extra for you goose. Looking forward to seeing your LPC pledges completed! GooseDaMoose
Well! It's been a while, but now that I have finally sent in my University Applications (fingers crossed) I have a little bit of free time until I have to start on my second batch of applications, and work.. and school... :D Anyway! @malika666 I've got something, basically the only thing I had :P I shall show some pictures as soon as I find my camera battery recharger! @hushrong That is actually a really good idea, and I thank you for the offer, but after actually trying it out with the li'l guy, it didn't really work out.. I've got something pretty cool though. On to my LPC pledge! I, GooseDaMoose of the Sons of Malice, vow on the honour of my Chapter to paint and present at least 5 Tactical Marines, including one Sergeant, a kit-bashed Chaplain and 3 Assault Marines, including on Sergeant on or before the 31st of March, 2011. I promise to provide at least two WIP updates, preferably with pictures, in that time. I vow that if I should fail, I will provide the Librarium with an article and wear the Signature of Shame until my penitence period is done. As my first update, I present to you this rather unimpressive looking update on the painting of my 5 Tac Marines: Before undercoat: http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/LPC1ProtoScout003.jpg All dem purty backpacks.. http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/LPC1ProtoScout001.jpg After undercoat and a splash of paint: http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/LPC1ProtoScout004.jpg Including an all new Brother-Sergeant Bhagat: http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/LPC1ProtoScout005.jpg "Say 'what' again Motherfrakker!" http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/LPC1ProtoScout006.jpg Their pretty backpacks again.. http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/LPC1ProtoScout007.jpg Oh.. and what's this you ask, the beginning of another of your kickbutt Scouts? Why yes, yes it is. ^_^ http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b440/GooseVonMoose/LPC1ProtoScout008.jpg C&C welcome gents! The one that you asked for here - http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...t&p=2572197 Looking forward to seeing more, although I would make it less almost half white and more than half black, more on the half white and half black :nuke: Just look at the sergeants chest to see what I mean. Ashur
The "Batko" idea is excelent. I was thinking in a makhnovist themed vostroyan army myself. Brother Melice
Dude, keep it up! Can't wait to see them all in squads))) The color scheme you have chosen just brought a thought to my consciousness, check out Kanye West's- Love Lockdown Music vid... Not joking (and this is me saying this, I can't believe myself) Besides an awesome rhythm, keep an eye on the dancers, the tribal markings on those chicks are very graphically intense, so could make a very interesting pattern for your army... love the conversion work :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213040-sons-of-malice-batko-blacks-7th-company-a-wip-project/page/5/#findComment-2616978 Share on other sites

But how dare you turn him into a chaos follower !!!!! Don't stop the good work. ;) And why not a Chaos follower??? Batko Machno was a bandit, a raider, same as the Chaos Space Mariens. Besides, Machno used the old Donskoi Kossaks Standard, which was the equivalent of the piret's Jolly Rodger, that symbol becoming renowned as the symbol of anarchy-chaos... Makes perfect sense. MooseDaGoose, or GooseDaMoose, sory, such a hard mane, easy to get confused, another idea... use the Jolly Rodger for company standard.
