Black Templar army revival/creations. Grimaldus

No, well not at first. I've posted how I do my black I think in this thread and my crusade thread on the Bt section.

I use a layering affect with the grey fosucing on the egdes or where highlights would be on rounded surfaces. Then a black wash to 'blend' the greys together. So the end result is a light grey edge fadeing into black. Then at the end I'll dry brush a bleached bone or commando khaki for extreme highlights.

god those are some cool marines. i really like the terminators and the black templar themed elements sprinkled in.

that land raider looks awesome, better then the forge world one imo. and again there is alot of details youve put on it that are going to be fun to paint.

good stuff.

Love this army with all the iconography and bits that you use from Empire and Bretonnia to the Black Templar bits. Very awesome. Love your black as well, very well done. Really like your Spartan, nice to see a version of it that isn't harking back to the Rogue Trader days.

Eberious, I dunno where to start. Ummm, your army is marvelous. The shading, the highlighting, the conversions, the dynamic action poses... it all smacks of awesomeness. I think your BT army is in my top three of those I've seen. Amazing work, dude. Truly.

Thanks very much all for the kind comments. :D

Its going to be a pain to paint but well worth it me thinks. I needed something to move my mass squads of templars around and not wanting to pay or really liking the FW one it had to be made.

Friend, this thread has been dead for almost a year. Please let it rest in the mighty halls of the Black Templars' previous Codex. (but many thanks for revealing it - I'd lost the link when I mistakenly deleted my bookmarks)

As for the shield bits, they may be from the Empire kits of the Warhammer Fantasy range.

Yes, but nothing too grave, so no need to panic ;)

It's a rule here on the B&C that if a topic has not been active for more than 90 days, you do not post in the thread until the author of the thread updates it himself. If you really need to get into contact with the author and/or just want post encouragement/admiration/etc, you're encouraged to use the PM system :)

Also, since the thread was particularly liked by some people (lncluding myself), when we saw the thread on the front page again, we thought that the author had posted new content and that made us quite happy (as you can imagine). However, our happiness was swiftly denied from our hearts and minds since there was no actual update. Ah well, maybe next time :D

I hope that explains things a bit more for ya!

That converted Land Raider is one of the coolest things I've ever seen for BT. This army rocks. There are so many purity seals, shields and crosses that there is no mistaking them for another chapter.

This is how Black Templars are meant to look.

Well, with comments like that there was no way I couldnt be inspired to bring forth the might of the Black Templars once again. After reading I got to work on my Spartan LR.

Been off doing Eldar(follow link in sig) and a bit of a 40k burn out followed so been lurking mostly not doing much at all. But over the last week after seeing the last page of conversation, I had to get back in there.  That and the Imperial Knight has some what interested me, wanted to get back up to speed/level with painting again before I paint that titan. As its been around a year since I painted black...with a brush in this method.

Top shot mostly looks a bit squint due to the way it is sitting.

Some familiar crusade badges might be recognised by some of my fellow BT brothers.

That's some good work on the banner

I know how tricky it can be getting the script to look good on an uneven surface. You have done a good job with it.

Is the banner scratch built or a whf banner?

That tank is fantastic. The script is very well done and the banner is a nice addition. As others have said, very glad to see you working on these models again. Always admired your attention to detail and the knightly aspect you incorporate. On a side note will have to check our Eldar out, as I'm working on some myself.

WOW!!!! That Spartan is a beast, a beautiful, beautiful beast. I would even let you run a few of my Lexicanums over with that.

There are a few plogs on the B&C that scream BLACK TEMPLARS: DONE PROPERLY!!!! And this Eberious is right up there with them.

great stuff!

PS: Did you ever finish that leaping Emperors Champion with the Mahoosive sword?

Thanks for the rsponses guys.

@UltraRich, the main banner is greenstuff, the two side ones are high elf banners. I think from the silver helms kit.

@yeah please do check my Eldar out. Is nice to swing back and fourth between the two. Keeps a hobby (both) painting and modeling burn out away. Do you have a project thread somewhere online? would be good to see what others are doing. PM me if you do. :)

@The Yak, thanks very much and its not painted yet. But hopefully with this run of painting I'll get around to it.
