Just went thru the whole thread, love it. The ORCA idea is awesome. Especially since C&C was one of my fave rts's of all time. Can't wait to see it finished!!

Very characterful army you have here, it is the first time I have seen it. Lots of great conversions and you have conveyed motion very well :) As for the 'Talon, looking forward to seeing what you do with it as I am not keen on it out of the box but it is a promising kit with only a little work it can look great. How easy is it to put together? GW win? I have just built a 'Raven and have been impressed and have heard the ork fighta's are good kits too.

 

Anywho, looking forward to more on an excellent plog :)

@Master Toddius, had a trip down memory lane last night, fired up you tube and stuck on some old c&c musical cheesey goodness.

 

@Midnight Runner, The kits great, very easy to put together. Gw have really improved on minimizing the flash. So the mold lines are barley noticable. The kit right out of the box is..ok, so if you are going to get one and you're not overly fond of it then prepare to convert it.

 

I've got the bulk of the work on the ST done now, so just the bells and whistles to add.

I've never liked the Venerable Dreadnought model with it's glaring weak point of an exposed head, but it looks pretty cool with the Terminator head. And your paint job is top notch.

So, from what I can tell I have finished to 97% my 1st ST. Need to get my hands on another rear top fin thingy and then it will be finished(anyone want to donate?) :P . Pretty much looks exactly what I pictured when I first saw it in the rumours thread. Few additions some light BT bling. Was stuck what to do with the very end of the tail, so why not another thruster.

 

Also didn't use those little ariel things, so stuck on a SM little radar. The pods on the side I like so left them where the are. Will be magnetised for all options including a plasma cannon upgrade.

really does look like an Orca :o

Definately benefitting from the longer tail, though i'm unsure how i feel about the fins extending ifrom the middle of the tale. Gppd thing you made the nose cannon turret smaller too. This does look a lot more capable of flight than the original, though the engines feel like they're on the small side. Really nice conversion

Very interesting look! I like the tail fins much more as you have them. And it certainly does not look front heavy anymore, if anything I'd shorten the tail a little (by an amount equal to the width of the tail fins, maybe?) but that's really nitpicking.

 

You have managed to turned a distinctly ugly model into something I would buy, well done! As should be expected of our Master of the Forge :o

Thanks all, the bits for the base have arrived today so now home from work I canget busy on getting the mini diorama finished.

 

@cathar the great, if only, then I wouldnt have to scour the interwebs on a mad search for the tail fin. It seems not to many people (bits sites) are going to stock them :) .

The idea behind the base was to have it showing a few moments after a missile strike/gun run. As you can see from the dead ones, and to capture having taking them by surprise by the two alive ones reacting to what just happened plus the StormTalon tearing over head. Lots of debris, limbs, blast area etc. The follow on idea for the planned 2nd Talon, will be a continuation of the battle below going into DE fighting Orks(the two armies I mainly play against). Of course the mighty spacemarines coming in to take 'em both out.

 

So the base is done now. The only good Eldar, is a dead one!

Exceptional conversion, I really like the twin tails and with the fin still in the middle of the fuselage it looks like a sharks dorsal fin and makes the model look very predatory.

@redscorps, thanks very much and you kinda described exactly what I was aiming for. I took the design idea from the Orca from the first command and conquer games and with the fin/s it (in my mind) resembled the Orca whale. The fact that it will be black and white is a bonus!. So yeah you pretty much hit the nail..wait are you in my brain or what? ^_^

 

and I'm actualy Scottish, just live in wales.

ok, lil update. Cockpit painted, tech marine painted and magnatised(why you ask?)well.... spent time painting the inside so would like to show it off and I got ahold of 50 magnets for cheap so why the hell not ;)

Yeh from a fluff/common sense point of view the frontal opening is pretty bad but as you said it suits a close combat style!

 

Definately an idea to borrow! ;)
