Really good to see that everyone is liking the Obliterators (i'm rather pleased with them as well). I've been toying with the idea of a IW Termie' unit for a while...maybe in the early stages of the Obliterator virus :)

Wow, those are simply awesome. What colours did you use for the source lighting on the eyes? I use a similar technique with my models using green, but I've found it difficult to find the right recipie for a red glow. I'd really appreciate a stage by stage. The true scaling too is fantastic. You have a lovely army, kudos

Thanks mate. For the eyes I started with a mix of Blood red and Liche purple, aprox 3/1. Next i painted the main body of the eye blood red. I added Golden yellow for the highlight stage and then just a spot of pure Golden yellow. The 'glow' around the eyes was simply done with watered-down Blood red. Thats as well s i can remember anyway. Ps. i love the glowing green lenses you've done on your Angels Sanguine, very nice indeed :)

All right. Time for an update.

I just started painting Cyrion today. It took me a while to get the right tone of blue. What do you think? Dark enough?

I started with Necron Abyss. Highlighted with a 50/50 mix of Necron and Enchanted blue. Highlight 2, 30/70 necron/enchanted. Washed with Assuramen blue. Re-highlighted with enchanted blue and then a 75/25 enchanted/skull white mix. Finally shaded with heavily watered down Chaos black.

Any suggestions regarding the Bronze edging would be appreciated.

I've also be working on Talos.

His salvaged chest plate WIP.

And his legs. I'm working to make the left grieve MkV.

Icon bearer.

I'm trying to decide whether to compete in the 'Armies on Parade' with some of my Word Bearers. I have enough painted to a reasonable standard but i feel that my army lacks the 'wow' facture required in a competition.

Thanks for looking

Those Iron warriors are epic, and that standard bearer looks totally cool, i say you might as well compete in AP, You might not win but at least you'll have tried and you'll know what your up against for next year should you choose to enter again.

Furthermore i would advise against even adding studs to talos's greaves, yes he wears some mkV armour but remember much of his gear is looted. In the artwork his greaves arent studded and are instead inscribed with prophecies and stuff, so if your up to doing some freehanding work, i think that would potentially look awesome. anyway i await to see the finished model, keep doin what you do

Thanks for all the positivity guys ;)

I just thought i would put up some quick WIP pictures of Cyrion's paint job. Unfortunately i don't get to paint as often as i would like hence the lack of updates and progress.

Also any ideas regarding basing would be appreciated. I'm thinking of an urban or Space hulk style base but any suggestions are welcome.

I'm more than a little worried about painting lightning effects because i have never done them before...

Nice painting so far, cyrion is looking great. For basing I would say either of your ideas (Urban/Space Hulk style) work well with the model. In the books they fight essentially on the covenant and other ships (space hulk) and on crythe (urban) so go with whatever feels right. As for the lightning dont worry about it, it takes practice but Its not really as hard as people say. you already seem to be pretty ace at highlighting and its essentially the same thing.

Thanks guys.

@Popkhorne: I think i'm leaning towards the space ship/hulk base. Some nice hazard stripes would off set Cyrion's dark paint job.

@Doghouse: Thanks mate. Really pleased you like the True scale. I must admit your True scale marines were the first i ever saw and have been a huge inspiration to me. Your tutorials are ace :)

Alright. Cyrion is nearly finished, as far as the painting is concerned. All he needs now is a base and maybe a few small touch ups...

I'm fairly happy with how he has turned out and i feel inspired to continue working on Talos and the rest of the claw. I'm also feeling really inspired to re-read 'Soul Hunter' (or at least listen to 'Throne of Lies' while i paint).

Front up. Unfortunately the right hand eye lens hasn't shown up to well in any of the pics. Bad lighting ;)

A better angle to show off the severed head and legion icon.

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN0258-1.jpg?t=1310645208

A closer look at the legion icon. The wings have been gren stuffed onto a regular CSM shoulder pad. The plume on the gladius pommel still needs to be highlighted.

Close up of the helmet/torso. I'm pretty happy with the lighting around the lenses, especially because i don't often use it. As noted before the right hand eye didn't show up in the pics.

I'm still open to any basing ideas although i'm leaning towards the space hulk style.

Thanks for looking ;)

Cyrion's just stepped off the page!

This is exactly how I imagine the Night Lords to look...

There I was, quite happy with my Night lord attempts and see again I've got a lot to live up to!

Wow. Ave Dominus Nox turned up to eleven! :P

Really amazing stuff hear. That Dark apostle is very good but i must say, your oblits are the best ive ever seen. Can i pinch your idea? The hideous standard models have prevented me ever using oblits and ive never seen a nice way to convert them before. Your conversion is what the original sculpt should have been like.

Your Night lord is also extremely inspirational. The conversion is again very good but your paint job makes me want to quit my worldeaters and start nightlords. Your blue is menacing and individual and the lightning and glowing eyes are excellent. Never seen the glowing red done effectively before.

@Lexington: I'm glad you like the lightning especially because i was fairly hesitant to try it in the first place. Thanks.

@Duma77: Really pleased you think i've captured the NL essence. Ps. You should be happy with your NLs they're awesome!! That deaths head helmet is very inspirational and i can't wait to see more of your work.

@Marshal2Crusader: Haha, thanks.

@Doghouse: Thanks mate and i'm really enjoying the progress on your Deathwatch marines.

@Terminatorinhell: I plan on doing the whole of first claw eventual. I've just started work on Talos.

@jimmimellows: Please feel free to use the Oblit ideas and i agree regarding the GW Oblits.

@Tarvik: Thanks mate.

Because i'm in the early WIP stages with Talos i might instead post some more pics of my other Chaos marines.

Alright time for some more Word Bearers.

Aspiring champion and plasma gunners.

I thought i would show so pics of my Lucius as well. When i first started CSM (back in the time of the 3.5 codex) i wanted to do Emperor's Children. Then the latest codex came out...

I had to paint him any way when he came out for the Madusa global campaign.

Thanks for looking :D

If you don't mind my asking, how'd you get the psychic hood on the termie lord?

It just comes on one of the Chaos terminator lord plastic torsos.

@MrMalevolent: Thanks mate. I decided to concentrate on purple as the main colour for Lucius's armour (pre-heresy style) rather than using too much black.
