Thanks for the kind words!

I've done some more work on him. I still need to neaten up the cloak detail, but you get the idea.

I need to start thinking about a base now. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for looking ;)

Really nice man.  Great work on the conversion, but then backing it up with some equally nice paint work.  Well done.  I have a Crowe model (metal version) still in the blister pack, makes me think about converting it to a Ultramarine.  Thanks for sharing your project.

Thanks dude! Definitely have a go at converting your Crowe mini. It will be harder because it's metal, but it should still be manageable :tu:

This is Fantastic. Well done.

How did you paint the cream on the back of the cloak?

Thanks, bro! The cloak was several thin layers of a mix of Tallarn Sand and Screaming Skull. I started off with a 70/30 mix of Tallarn Sand and Screaming Skull and worked my way up through several mixes all the way to pure Screaming Skull.

He is almost finished now! Just a few more details to sort out.

  • 1 year later...

Well, this thread has been pretty quiet for a while now... :P

As some of you may know I'm all about the Heresy these days, but after finishing my Alpha Legion Zone Mortalis force I felt like I needed a small diversion. Plus I wanted to paint something that I could quickly and easily buy at my local GW store while I wait for my latest FW order to arrive...

He is going to be a Monodominant Militant Inquisitor

Thanks for looking ;)

Just finished the Inquisitor! I hope you like how he turned out :)

Wow that inquisitor is looking stellar! I'd love to see you build a retinue for him too. Looking forward to seeing him complete!

Thanks a lot! No plan for a retinue at the moment, but you never know. The Inquisition have always been one of my favourite aspects of the fluff so you never know...

Nice. Can't wait to see how this progresses, what do you have planned for the head?

Thanks bro! I ended up using a Wood Elf Deep Wood Ranger's head. I was originally planning to use a hooded head from the Dark Angel's upgrade sprue, but it wouldn't fit in the gorget.

Very interesting. Do carry on! :smile.:

Thanks dude! Hope you like him :)

  • 5 months later...

I just got my hands on a Primaris intro mini from my local store and thought I'd have a go at changing him up a bit. I'd hardly call it a conversion, the work is so minimal, but I'm pretty happy with how it's looking so far.

I'm not sure which Chapter to paint him as, but I'm leaning towards the Crimson Fists or Scythes of the Emperor. Also, the head isn't glued on yet, so I'm still playing around with a few options.

So, what do you think? Do you like the (mini) conversion, and which Chapter would he suit?

Thanks for looking

Thanks for the feed back and suggestions. Much appreciated :)

I've been trying out a couple of different head options. At this stage I definitely prefer the MkVII helmet.

Finecast Calgar head.

Primaris helmet. I cut a lot of the neck off because I feel that the Primaris helmets sit too high relative to the shoulder plates and torso.

I probably won't be able to make a start on the painting until the weekend, so I'm still open to ideas and suggestions.

First off: Awesome work. I think he looks very good.

As for a chapter I say Howling Griffons. Because I was going to paint mine that way before I traded them for another set of the new DG.

Thanks a lot bro! Glad you like him.

The Howling Griffons would be an interesting and challenging scheme. I'm not a massive fan, but I'll have a look through my Badab War book for some ideas. Plus they look pretty awesome in this picture...

The conversion looks great! How easy was the shoulder pad swap? I vote for Scythes of the Emperor, that's how I plan to paint mine.

Thanks mate! The shoulder plate was very easy. I just used a sharp hobby knife to cut away the shoulder plate that came attached to the mini and then replaced it with a plate from the Deathwatch kit. Very easy :tu:

That looks fantastic! I always enjoy seeing physical battle damage over painted on. I think Crimson Fists or Sons of Orar would look great for this model. Looking forward to seeing him painted up!

Glad you like the damage! I love adding some physical damage to compliment the sponged weathering.

Primaris-sized marines with mk. Vii helmets - how marines always should have been.

Tell me about it... I think GW missed a great opportunity. I'll just be thankful that they made it easier to convert 'true-scale' marines and even gave us rules to use them in games ;)

I vote Scythes!

I'm leaning that way at the moment.

Thanks for looking ;)
