@Inquisitor Engel: The bronze was achieved using a very easy four stage process.

1. Base coat with Tinbitz.

2. Thickly highlight with a Tinbitz/shining Gold mix.

3. Lightly shade with a very, very thinned down Chaos black.

4. Finally edge highlight with a 60/40 Mithril Silver/ Shining Gold mix.

@Zeller: The recipe for the red is equally as easy.

1. I started with two thinned down coats of Mechrite Red.

2. Highlight with Blood Red.

3. I then 'black lined' the armour with a very thinned down Chaos Black/Mechrite red mix. Aprox 30/70.

4. Finally washed with Baal Red.

Two very simple recipes. I think my methods are becoming more streamlined the more i paint. I think its partly due to laziness and partly due to experience :wallbash:

Also i've recently been working on my True-scale Talos. I had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday and so i have a little more time on my hands than usual ;)

Great work, the obliterators are amazing, I :D the glowing eyes effects.

Is it me or the Daemonette looks like Pink ? :D Or maybe it's pink who looks like a Daemonette, you never know. :P

Well spotted Plasman. Pink definitely looks like a Daemonette :D

@Rogan. The oblits are slightly taller than regular Termis and Erebus is taller again. By the way i love your Ultramarines. Very clean and precise :P

A quick size comparison pic. The WIP champlain was the only none modified TDA mini i had at hand. Sorry about the lighting (its about 11pm in Aussie land).

i like what i'm seeing and as a night lords player, i love your cyrion ;)

one thing is bugging me about him though, the plume on his gladius.

it's "flow" of movement doesn't work with the rest of the model in my opinion. it should be angled downwards a lot more to let it hang at rest, like the skulls on his armor or his loincloth for example. nevertheless fantastic models and paint jobs!

I think washes make us all "feel" lazy but really they just let us do what we used to do with several blending layers! No one's any less talented for using them, they're just faster. :P

Must say you have quite a collection of awesome models, it really showes what a simple but well executed paintjob can achive.

Out of interest, are the shoulder pads on the oblits/termies bought or self made?

The termi shoulder pads were bought. I think they are just a little too big for termis but they turned out alright for the Obliterators. Also they are solid pieces, ie. no room for the termis arm to fit into. I just had to cut the arms off bellow the shoulder and glue them on.

All right time for an update.

Over the last couple of weeks i've been busy working on my WHFB dark elf corsairs so first claw and the word bearers have been sadly neglected. I have really enjoyed painting the dark elves and experimenting with different skin tones. I might make a tutorial some time. The pale skin would work really well for CSM especially Night Lords.

Just thought i would show some of my slow progress on Talos. I worked on the helmet and abdomen hosing today. I think i'll go with a converted GK sword for the Relic Blade but i can't decide on a combi-bolter. The Terminator bolters and the one from the chaos vehicle accessory sprue seem a little too large and cumbersome. I was thinking of using two CSM bolters together or a converted Umbra tattern bolter from FW. I would love to give Talos a combi-melta or -flamer but i really want to stay true to the character...

One of my Lesser Daemons.

The picture doesn't really show it but there are several highly stages on the skin. I mixed Bleached bone with Chaos Black because i wanted a softer and more natural tone. Note that the bulbouse part of the head has been cut of so that the daemons look a little different to the usual blood letters.

I just realised i hadn't shown off the entire Berzerker squad. I used a mix of the old Berzerker and new CSM pieces as well as a few Chaos Marauder arms on these boys. They were the first unit i built and painted for my CSM force.

And a pic to show the Marauder arms 'Kharne' style :P

Hopefully i can get some more work done on Talos soon, although i have ordered twenty pre-heresy terminator shoulder pads from Maxmini (Scarab Occult?) so i may be a little distracted...

Thanks for looking :)

You really have some great painting skills. I especially like Lucius, which makes me want to buy and paint him :D :D

I really like your Word Bearers, World Eaters and Iron Warriors too, my favourite probably being the chap with the Power fist clutching that Loyalist helmet :D

Oh, and your Night Lords look awesome :D

Ludovic

Edit: How d'you do the skin on Lucius' head? I've been trying to get something similar on another model but I can't seem to get it right.

Edited by Battle-Brother Ludovic

Thanks Battle-Brother Ludovic. I can't remember the exact colours i used for Lucius's skin. I painted him a couple of years ago. If i was to paint him again i'd start with a Astronimican Grey base coat. Then i'd give the recesses a wash with Codex Grey. A black wash around the eyes would also be good. I'd finish off with a couple of highlights ending with pure Skull White.

I'm going to be a little bit  ...

I just thought i'd show you a couple of pics of a new scheme i've been using for pail skin. If i end up modelling any of the Night Lords with a bare head i'll be using this scheme.

I've put the images on a link as they aren't B&C friendlyFemale CorsairMale Corsair

I started with a base coat of Denheb Stone. The recesses got a thin wash of Khemri Brown. I finished off with two highlights, 50/50 Skull White/Denheb Stone amd then pure Skull White.

I just built some FW Berzerkers and thought i'd share some pics. The FW bits are great. They really make the marines look even more brutal and unhinged than usual.

The three amigos.

I'm still trying to come up with ideas for the Skull Champion.

Thanks for looking :teehee:

Thanks Guys.

@Biohazard: I'm loving the progress on your 'Zerkers. Not sure when i'll get around to painting these lads. I've got too many little projects on the go at the moment <_< I"m trying to finally finish my true scale Talos.

@Kapturowski: Thanks mate. I've just been doing some more true scale work. Hopefully i'll get some pics up soon. I used the regular GW drill bits for the chain axe. I also used a round file to widen the hole so the axe would fit in the 'Zerkers hand.

@Biohazard: Good to hear mate. I'll keep an eye out for some true scale from you.

Alright, I've done some more work on Talos. He is still fairly WIP but complete enough to give you all a good idea of how he will turn out. I still need to fix up all the GS areas, ie. sanding etc. Talos is also going to have a lot more trophies and gagets once hes finished.
