I really like the true scale Night Lord models, however I do have some problems with them.

 

First of all, the arms on the first one (the one that is painted) are too skinny compared to the rest of his body. Its like having a body builder with toothpick arms. You bulked out the torso so much with skulls and other small conversions, then left the arms virtually the same. Its a good model, but its all about the little things in this hobby.

 

Second of all, the arms on the second one (the unpainted one) are now adequate in thickness, but are now too long. His arm bent goes to his kneecaps. Stand up and see where your arms lie at your side. They land about halfway down your thigh unless you are a little off.

 

Keep up the good work otherwise. I don't critique your models to be mean, I do it to help you like people on here helped me.

Thanks for the constructive criticism Alpha PTP, its always welcome :) I've got to say i agree with most of what you had to say. I have slightly shortened Talos's arms now. However i'm fairly happy with the size of Cyrions arms as they are but i can see what you meen. thanks again.

Haha. No worries. Its not annoying at all. The annoying part is that i can't remember the exact colours i used to paint the purple armour <_< .

 

I've just gone and had a look at Lucius. I think i started with Lich purple and then added warlock purple over a couple of stages until i was using pure warlock. The highlights were made by adding a little tentacle pink to the mix (I don't think GW sell Tentacle Pink any more but you could use white instead).

Time for an update, at long last.

 

I picked up some more CSM and FW goodies on my recent trip to the UK (GW minis in the UK are about half the price i have to pay in Australia). I'm planning on painting them as Iron Warriors to add to the couple of IW minis i already have. To this affect i picked up a couple of sets of FW IW Rhino doors and a set of Land Raider doors. I also bought some MkV and MkIII armour to give the IW a bit of added flavour. I just had to get a Contemptor while at Warhammer World and i'm planning on converting this bad boy to a IW dread (only problem is the kit was missing the back/exhaust piece. I guess i'll have to give FW a call and try to sort it out).

 

Any way the first minis i've assembled so far are a squad of Chaos Terminators. I've kept them fairly simple so far with only two minor conversions (i usually like to convert my minis but as a result never get much finished). The squad is armed with a reaper autocannon, two chain fists, four combi-meltas and an icon of Chaos Glory. I'll eventually build a land raider for the lads to ride in. I picked up a Terminus Ultra while in the UK. I'll be assembling it so that i can use it as a raider in regular games and as the Terminus for Apocalypse.

A side shot of the Combi-melta. I used a Infernus pistol from the Sanguinary Guard kit and cut it to fit the Combi-bolter after i had removed the combat attachment. It still needs a little green stuff work.

Well I've decided to take up the LPC. I've vowed to finish my Chaos Termies and 8 IW Berzerkers. Its a small vow but thanks to my lack of haste when it comes to painting, pre-season football training (!!can't wait!!) and the beach it should keep me fairly bussy. If i get my vow completed ahead of time I'll probably start work on my Land raider and Khârn (IW counts as).

 

So far the Termies have been base coated and had their first few coats of paint and wash. The Berzerkers are still under construction (i've built one) and i'm planning to use a nice selection of FW bits on them just to mix it up.

 

Alright, onto some pictures.

 

First off the Berzerker. I've given him a FW chainsword and bolt pistol.

Quick update. I've just assembled the Skull Champion for the Zerkers. Hes still missing his left shoulder pad because i'm waiting for the IW pads to arrive on order. I'm not entirely happy with his pose but i'm sure he'll look much better with a bit of paint on him.

I've been thinking of a really dark blue, almost black. I probably wont try any lighting designs as i don't really have the confidence. Who knows i might give it a go. I can always repaint it.

Yeah, all's fine now :D Sorry about that.

 

As for the blades, I'd say why not but as your metallic's are already quite subdued (ie. quite dark), I think the dark blue would get lost in it all. That is why I suggested a "lighter" colour, without it being too light as to distract the viewers attention form the other parts of the model. All in all, it's up to you so if you think that dark blue is cool, then go for it :)

Loving the Terminators (as for the number of pictures, I would actually like to see more :mellow:)! The hazard stripes in particular are well-painted and kept in a straight line, which isn't that easy in my experience.

 

I really like the glow around the eye lenses, but may I ask how you did it?

I just used some watered down Blood red and painted it around the eyes. You need to make sure the paint is thin enough that the base colour shows through.
