So it's taken a while but I have an update.

I settled on the Renegade Enforcers head for my Knights pilot. I'm waiting on my 3rd Knight arriving so I can build the other cockpits simultaneously. I haven't done anymore painting for one reason or another.

I also mentioned in my Interview post over in the chaos marines forum that I wanted to rebuild Malek Deimos. I started working on him a few nights ago and decided I would magnetise him so I could use him in a few different builds. I'm working on versions of Abbadon and Lord Zhufor. Both of which are still very early WIP. I still need to decide how I'm going to build Zhufor's powerfist. Here's what I have so far. There is obviously a lot of clean up and greenstuff work needed yet.

Or a mix of all of them.

I've also built a couple more Berzerker Champions

Lightning claw/plasma pistol

And I built an Icon of Wrath.

And finally I've built a new head for my 3rd Jugger Lord with Lightning Claw and Axe of Khorne.

As always folks let me know what you think.

Ha, I am always happy to see an update here, buddy, especially if it's about new kitbashes! :)

The Enforcer head works really well for the Knight pilot and is definitely a keeper! Seeing it mocked up like that, though, I'd leave off the cabling after all.

The work on Deimos 2.0 is also really impressive, especially that Khorgos Khul armour plate on his shin armour and the huge axe! That third head is terrible, though -- far too cartoony for my taste! Please stick to the other two ;)

The new 'zerker kitbashes are looking good. Not quite sold on the new head for the jugger rider, though -- those skulls from the skull cannon are cool bitz, but they don't quite work as facemasks, I think. There's something ever so slightly off about the facial proportions, if you ask me.

Looking forward to your next update! :)

Thanks for the comments,

For the Knight pilot I'll probably keep the cabling but I'll tone it down a lot.

On Deimos I have to say the Axe and Shield combo is one of my favourites. Sorry dude but I'll be keeping that 'cartoony' head. I really like it and feel it represents the Skull Helm of Khorne perfectly. The heads are all magnetised as well though so it's easy to switch out when I like.

The Jugger Lord it may be the pic and pose that's throwing you slightly with the torso etc being primed. It fits quite well irl.

I have mocked up another head and think I've nailed the fist for the Zhufor build. I've added a coat to the trophy as well. It will be chopped up a lot and fixed with GS to make it look all shredded. I'd meant to have the trophy pole removable and may still look at doing that.

Just need to sort out the Bolter on the fist.

Well, you like what you like -- still, I had to take the opportunity to try and dissuade you from using that terrible head. But the fact that it's only one of several options is a relief, at least ;) The most recent one is really cool, though! I don't like the stock head, but it works surprisingly well with the crest shaved off!

The axe and claw combo is very bad-ass! As for the bolter, since I've done something similar more than once, I'd suggest using shaved down CSM bolt pistols instead of bolters, as that worked out very well on my Doomwall conversion. Or you could just use on of those GK bolters, although they are fairly clunky.

I love the idea of rebuilding Zhufor's trophy pole with plastic bitz, but I have to ask, buddy: Do you want the original resin bit? I think I have a spare one.

Like you say, you think it's terrible. I like it. Cest la vie.

And yeah I have some CSM bolt pistols to use for him. I've done it a couple of times before

As for the trophy pole I'm really enjoying building this one buddy so thanks but I'll carry on with this one. I'm curious to see if I can pull off my own version of it. :tu:

  • 3 weeks later...

Thanks for all the comments folks. Really appreciate it.

Augustuss, thanks buddy but I have a fist almost complete for him. Appreciate the offer though. :tu:

Squigsquasher, I've looked at that before but always found it a little too bulky. I have hacked apart a couple of bolt pistols though and I'm happy with how they look. Again I have Zhufor's fist mostly complete so will update ASAP.

Nighthunters, like you say angrier is better. Especially when it comes to a snorting flesh metal brazen beast charging at the foe.

You're welcome, buddy. He's looking brutal and that commisar is splendid.

Can we get another look at the axe? I think it works very well, but it might need an extention of the haft between the haft's end and the second 'attachement point' of the blade. Do you get my meaning? :D

That trophy poll is epic, I would definitely have it removable though for transport. I'd also be tempted to put a left arm on it, at least the upper arm and soulder tucked into the coat. But still brilliant work and eagerly awaiting the green stuff to see it shredded.

Thanks for the replies folks and apologies for the delay in replying.

Venomlust, I made that pad a few years ago for one of my first version of Malek, at work just now but I still have a pic in my photobucket. I like how it looks but feel it needs something else. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/44123EFA-2AB9-48C4-B29E-4B238883F4E2-2079-000001C610804E4A.jpg

I'm now thinking I'm going to get the Forge World WE terminator set and use the pads from that on this guy. Should have a set for all his load outs and I'll definitely be using one of the rebreather heads from that set.

Augustuss, your exactly right! That bit is just a place holder, I had that axe power plant piece sitting and it saved me chopping up another one until I was sure it would look ok. The final build will have that as one solid piece.

Mechanist, I will be making the pole removable I think. That way I can add another trophy pole or banner for one of the other load outs. Not sure exactly how I'm going to do it yet but I'll figure something out. Some good idea for the skeleton as well. Initially I wanted it to have both arms tied behind its back but couldn't really get it to work. I will be adding at least one limb though. I'm still trying to build up the courage to start chopping the jacket ha.

Sockwithaticket, cheers buddy. I agree on the left facing, I magnetised this at the waist but I think I'm going to glue it. And fix a general pose. I think I might have just gotten carried away with the magnets really. :D

Sorry no pics in this post but once I finish this stretch of nightshifts I'll be back at the hobby table.

Hmm, you know what, buddy: Those Forgeworld shoulder pads (and heads) are excellent bitz, of course. But I cannot help feeling that using them here would almost feel like a cheap cop-out, and here's why: You are spectacularly talented when it comes to making unbelievable plastic conversions. I've looked at your conversions so many times and gone "How did he do that?"/"Why didn't I do that?"/"I wish I had done that first!" So the solution here is to come up with something suitably awesome in plastic. Any sad git can resort to using readymade FW bitz ;)

Don't take this the wrong way, buddy. I would just like to see you knocking it out of the park as you usually do -- using plastic parts. In other news, that pad is very cool and I think you shouldn't discard it too soon.
