Squigsquasher Cheers buddy. Will update soon, my shifts have been properly antisocial lately but the release of the Traitor Legion book has me fired up again. Just need to find time.

The Sonic Blasters are basically Chaos heavy bolters with gargoyle heads replacing the barrels. I do plan to add some extra cabling to them. The Blast masters are made from Grav cannons with the exhaust vents from the landspeeder typhoon missile launcher and some extra gubbins, you can check out the rest of my Slaanesh stuff here

Thanks guys. Augustass has given me a pass in the challenge so I'm happy with that. :smile.: Now open for another challenge.

Kraut, I can't wait to see Lorimar with some paint on him. I need to sit down and work on some fluff for Deimos. The mans crying out for a backstory.

I spent a bit more time on Malek today and this is the result.

Looking great. Care to tell us which sword that is? Blood Letters or Blood Crushers?

How did you do the paint job on the blade ?

Thanks for the comments folks. Apologies for the delay in replying lately. Works been pretty mentally taxing and I've been struggling to get my head into the hobby zone if you get me? I also picked up a second motorbike project so have been tinkering with that over Christmas/New year on the very few days off I had.

Anyway, at work again tonight but I've been dabbling with a couple of models I've been working on for a while now. One of which may or may not be a Daemon Primarch. Hopefully have more to show on that this weekend. I'm waiting on another Skarbrand kit to arrive before I can do anything there.

One of the other models I worked on for a bit today when I woke up was Malek Deimos. When we last saw him he looked like this

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/E9D62F9E-8404-43CB-9C35-C3B1056EA9C2.jpg

I need to adjust the arm positioning on him but here's a little sneaky look at how he stands now. I'll work on him more this afternoon once I get up. Nightshift really eats into hobby time.

I've finally got the head how I want it. I just need to add a couple of little cables either side of the teeth and tidy up the back of the head with gs. As I say the arms are sitting a little too high at the moment so I'll need to bring them down a touch. He's still magnetised at the elbow so I can switch out as and when, this is the loadout I used in a game a few days ago. I have him the Bloodfeeder and a Combi plasma just for a giggle. He was a beast in close combat chewin through a unit of Grey Knights on his own and taking the last two hull points from a Grey Knight Dread that was attempting to charge his unit.

As I say I have a few days off this weekend but plan to work on these characters any chance I get so keep your eyes peeled.

Quixus, that's a Bloodletter Sword I think and it was painted using the same very lazy technique I use on all my Daemon/power weapons.

Basecoat black

Run as fine a line as possible of white around the outer edges and then wash with the old Citadel Dark Green ink. It gives a nice glossy effect. I used the same technique just recently on my Biker Lord,

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/36D5DDB7-9DEC-42F7-9519-6E1D1A853916.jpg

for his axe I lightly drybrushed the raised detail then went over it with the ink. As I say it's a very lazy technique but it works for me.

Thanks buddy, I've worked on him a bit more since I got home from work. I realise now though that working with such small bits while tired can be counterproductive. Hence the reason his face mask tubes aren't going in the same direction. :grr: I'll have a mess about with them later. I notice as well one of his hip plates has come off while I was taking these quick pics. Ah well, again, I'll sort it later. I really need to head to my bed now. :tu:

I should also add the trophy racks will be getting switched for a new rack with some trophies from recent games I've played using Malek. ;)

I still have a hard time picturing him as Deimos, buddy, but that's just a problem in my head ;)

That being said, there are so many parts of the new model that already seem brilliantly realised, yet the ensemble doesn't quite come together, and I think it's because the proportions are somewhat off: The torso somehow seems too narrow, especially in combination with the pretty long arms and very open pose.

Sorry for being that guy, buddy! I am perfectly confident, however, that the finished model will be glorious!

There's always one ;) in this case two. No worries guys. The torso isn't quite finished yet but I won't be adding too much. I just have some cabling (very subtle) to add between the torso and arms and there will be a few more trophies around his belt. I do think the problem with the proportions you have Kraut could all be down to the pics. I'll try and sort out some better ones with a different loadout, his arms are actually still the same length as standard arms I think the fact you can see the magnets etc due to my shoddy Dremel work.

Bare with me guys. I'm sure I can make it work. ;)

Gotta say, I think Malek's old head using the NL terror helmet looked more menacing, but that's just me.

Kraut brought it up before, and I'm inclined to agree with him that the torso looks too skinny. But, like you said, the arms are a little high so when they're brought down and you add on the cabling you mentioned it should look alright. I much prefer the decoration on this new chesplate than the old one!

All in all he's looking excellent. Job well done

Well, as you say, the model isn't finished yet, so I'll definitely reserve judgement ;) Plus a certain proportional wonkiness is definitely par for the course when building characters wearing Terminator armour. But maybe, going forward, it would help to ask yourself: What would his anatomy underneath the armour look like? And once the answer to that question is: He'd look reasonably humanoid and anatomically sound, you know you're on the right track ;)

Like I say guys his arms are still sitting a little high. I didn't address that issue this morning I just wanted to work on his face. Once I bring the arms down a little and more importantly fill the gaps between torso and arms (I think this has a lot to do with the illusion of skinniness, he's certainly no waif irl.) it should mesh a little better. Also because I've used the sword loadout I think it gives even more of an illusion of height to the pics which seems to emphasise the proportions.

On the point about his faceplate, I like the NL head version but as I've said before my main inspiration was Immortan Joe and I was really wanting to build something of the same ilk. The terror head didn't really fit that image for me. I'll be using that head elsewhere though. Also once I changed the breastplate there wasn't actually as much room inside for the NL head.

Cheers buddy. This really isn't much of an update as I didn't have anywhere near as much time as I'd hoped this weekend. I did bring Deimos' arms down a little though, I also stuck his Combi Plas on. Hopefully that'll help tackle the foreshortening in the pics we had going on with the sword.

I removed the ridiculously big banner I had on my Biker Lord and replaced it with a more fitting trophy rack I think, I'm still trying to figure out why I added that banner in the first place.

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/63C3D20A-A677-4603-B512-8DAAD37215AA.jpg

While doing that I thought I'd have a go with some Secret Weapon crushed glass I had to finally add the snow that I've wanted to my bases. I'm really quite pleased with the effect. It'll take me a while to do all my painted bases but I think it'll look really good when they're all done. Most of my infantry models will only get one or two small patches. I want to show the snow has started to melt a little.

I couldn't really capture the sparkle this has irl but I think it looks a lot better than the pva and baking soda I was going to use initially.

Also added some to Skarbrand while I was at it.

Cheers guys,

Mechanist, yeah I'm really happy with the slushy snow look the crushed glass has. I'll be using it scattered throughout the rest of my army as well.

Thousand Eyes. I'm actually really bad for going back and revising models. I sometimes overthink things as well which means they never get finished. :s

I have another update, I worked a little more on Deimos last night, I still have to add the spikes to the top (as well as cut down a couple of the poles) I've kept them off for now though so I can paint the trophies seperately.

Still a way to go yet.

I've also made a new Jugger Lord to use with the Traitor Legions book.

I wanted to make a kind of homage to my first Jugger Lord.

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n235/Stovie_2006/Biohazards%20Worldeaters/00A9B20B-21F3-4B19-A44D-A7CB21C76FAC.jpg

I like a lot about this model, I always felt the pose was really awkward but for once didn't want to rip apart a complete model.

So I gave the new guy a similar helmet using the Helbrute faceplate. I then wanted something to represent the Bloodfeeder and possibly the Berserker Glaive, I had tried a more traditional Glaive like I had on Deimos but then I thought I would just go for the rule of cool, the grip section between the blades will be lengthened a little it's only lightly glued just now to let me see how it will look on the model. I need to fill all the gaps and add a couple more cables to the back pack as well but I'm happy with how he's coming along.

That double-bladed sword is neat as hell! I really dig it.

I'd love to see you do something with one of those hammer-flail-things that some of the AoS Khorne kits have. I actually really like the concept (and it's really no more ludicrous than your standard oversized flail when you think about it) and I reckon you could do wonders with them. Perhaps for a jump-pack lord and a squad of Khorne Raptors, zipping about and swinging that hammer like an airborne demolition ball?

Squigsquasher, That's a decent idea, I've looked at those bits before the poses seem a bit weird to me but there's loads of cool extras in that kit that I've ordered from bits sites in the past. I'm actually planning a unit of Chosen that'll be loosely based on this artwork. I plan to mix some mkV armour with the FW WE kit. For any bare arms I'll probably use the arms from the Bloodreavers, I have a load of them from the AoS starter set.

Venomlust, appreciate the enthusiasm buddy :D
