Kizz please D:

Hahaha, glad you like it.

Wow! Snazzy flyer!

Thanks, bro!

Now that, good sir, is one classy looking chassis. Looking forwards to seeing it in flight!

Thanks, dude! Just waiting to get my hands on a base and stand, and then he'll be free to fly.

Damn. I used to dislike the Lightning, but now? Damn.

Hahaha, good to hear that I might have changed your mind.

It's like looking at somebody's parked Harley Davidson and you can't help but nod in approval

Beautiful work on the flyer Kizz.

Thanks, bro. I like that comparison!

Dude great Lightning! Can't wait to shoot him down

Hahaha, talk it up bro :P

I love the lightening dude, great work.

Thanks, dude!

Dude. Nice. I knew you'd make it work but this... This is just over-the-top cool. Those laureled IIIs just make it work.

Thanks a lot, bro! Glad you like how it turned out. I'm really happy with the decals. I've had bad experiences with them in the past, but they went on nicely this time around.

Ride the lightning!

The paint job on that beauty is flawless. The white and purple look awesome my friend.

Thanks, bro! I'm pretty happy with how the colour scheme turned. Glad you like it.

Stunning..... just absolutely stunning...

Thanks mate!

Soooooo cool

Thank you :)

So much white, so beautifully painted. You really have an army the Phoenician would go gaga over :smile.: amazing!

If anyone knows a source of sensible priced phalanx warder shields please shout! I'm thinking of using them for my breachers as they're so wide - plenty of surface to place flayed people on :smile.:

Thanks, bro! I just got my hands on some Phalanx Warder shields, they're pretty tasty.

Thanks for looking ;)

Impressive, most impressive....

I have to say I wasn't convinced when I first saw the lightning, but now, I am just blown away..... you do realise I am going to have to try and beat it.... I really love the weathering effects and the transfers work a real treat. I do like how you've made it more legion affiliated rather than of the Legion.

Now get on and sort those breachers out.....

I don't even want to think about the Medusa....

I've made some good progress this week. Thanks to Lord Commander Eidolon I got my hands on some Phalanx Warder shields! I also made a solid start on the first Medusa.

Here is the first test shield for the III Legion breachers

http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l522/kizzdougs/DSCN4105_zpsuh036iel.jpg

I'm still trying to decide how to build the assemble the breachers. I'm going to using Palatine Blade minis and Phalanx Warder shields, but should I build them as a regular breacher unit? It feels a bit silly using such beautiful minis to represent a 'standard' breacher squad. I've considered assembling them as Phalanx Warders and only using them with my opponent's permission. I'm also considering creating my own specialist III Legion breacher unit armed with volkite chargers/calivers. I'd probably either use them as regular breachers or a tactical support squad in games. What do you guys think?

The Medusa has been pretty fun to paint so far, but I haven't really started on the more challenging stages yet

Having to paint that much gold would make me want to curl up and hide! Looking solid, and that shield is fantastic. Have you considered some chipping/weathering for it or are you going to keep it clean?

That shield is stunning!!! Is the filigree just for bling or a representation?

You could run them as standard breachers and just use the two special weapons as volkite chargers. Not as fluffy but gets the desired look.

Stop painting white so good..... Like yesterday....

Damn, I thought my shields had already turned and thought that was unusually quick. :P

Excellent work on that shield. It looks like an original FW product. :tu: Did you just sand down the fist symbol?

And concerning how you should field them, isn't there a Veteran unit that can take shields? If not, just field them as standard Breachers, say that they're a unique unit of assault specialists/veteran Breachers in your Company/Millennial and use them as the "tip of the spear" for your army. Whatever you do, don't let the gaming side of the hobby stop you from making this unit! Heck, perhaps FW will see them and think "hey, maybe we could make some rules for some special EC Breacher-like unit?" ;)

Correct if I'm wrong but can't command squads take boarding shields. Perhaps you could have a command squad breached unit rocking around with your Primus Medicae? Sort of like an apothecarian guard unit.

Perhaps you could come up with some fluff, that this was a common sight in the III legion whilst they rebuilt which was slowly dying out by the time of the Heresy.

On the other hand that shield looks so awesome, that I demand you make a squad of 20. In the name of.. the pursuit of perfection or something. :p

Command Squads only get combat shields but nothing stopping you there!

Dude ash IHF I'm sure he's designed a specialist IIIrd Legion Breacher Squad with rules etc.

This is off to a great start bud, I've grabbed out my press mould in gear and im going to start building your objective. I'm so excited man like giddy with excitement.

Damn, that shield looks lovely. Can't wait to see it on a body!

As for what to build them as, why not just follow the Eddie Eccles School of 30k Miniature Unit Building Thought Stuff (as posted on A D-B's blog:)

Anyways, can't wait to see what you build. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll work out good. :tu:

I have to echo everyone else and say the shield and medusa look awesome!

I also just like the idea of Palatine Blades who like to use shields. I am sure you will make them fit in nicely. Maybe even pretend they are chosen veterans trying to prove themselves to become Phoenix Guard.

Great stuff, as usual! I almost wish I had kept the shields having seen what you've done with them!

I really think it will suit the aesthetic of the Palatine Blade models. I'd be inclined to go with the rule of cool and model them how you like them; shattered legion rules or allies should allow you to take Imperial Fists if you are worrying about 'legal' issues or you could use just a few as a Command Squad. You should probably give at least one a Phoenix spear just for the hell of it!!

Wow, great shield. The medusa looks good as per. Having come to expect great vehicles and infantry from you, the Medusa didn´t strike me as striking at first. Off came the I´ve-seen-tons-of-kizzdoug's-stuff-already-and-everything-is-great-as-always glasses and there it was in all it's glory.

But dude that shield. I demand a tutorial or at least WIP shots sans paint (of the next one).

Edward Eccles does seem to know what's up, btw.

The Medusa is almost finished. I just need to add some soot, paint the crew and give the whole thing a nice coat of mat varnish.

Hahaha, gold is pretty easy now with the new GW gold base paint. The difficult part is washing it without an airbrush. I'll probably keep it clean to fit in with the rest of the force.

Thanks, bro! The filigree is just some added bling. I'm still trying to decide how to model the breachers, but I'm liking the volkite idea.

Shield looks amazing! How did you do the detailing on it?

Thanks, dude! The detailing is some etched brass that EdT sent to me. I tried a quick google search but couldn't find the store that sells it. I'll have to have a better look in the morning.

Damn, I thought my shields had already turned and thought that was unusually quick. :tongue.:

Thanks! Yeah, I sanded/cut down the fist icon. The shields are fairly thin so I had to be pretty careful. As far as I'm aware the only 'veteran' units that can take boarding shields are the Medusan Immortals (IH) and the Phallanx Warders (IF). Ultramarine breachers can be upgraded to cary power swords. I'm thinking that I'll probably just model them up for fun and try to figure something out later when it comes to gaming.

That's actually a really good idea (Primus Medicae body guard). It would work really well with the white shields as well... I like the way you think :tu:

You could run shattered legions with a fist consul to unlock Warders.

Yeah, I have considered that option. I'll have to give it some more thought, but I's definitely a good idea.

Its beautiful :ohmy.:  Always a treat seeing your updates Kizz!

Thanks a lot, dude!

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing the objective. At the moment I've just got some generic markers, so it'll be nice to have a personalised objective for games.

Mr Eccles seems to have it all figured out. As long as it's painted well I can't imagine that too many people will complain.

Beautiful shield and great start on the Medusa! I'd echo the notion of just build whatever you feel like, rule of cool and whatnot.

Thanks, bro!

I also just like the idea of Palatine Blades who like to use shields. I am sure you will make them fit in nicely. Maybe even pretend they are chosen veterans trying to prove themselves to become Phoenix Guard.

Thanks, bro! The only reason that I'm trying to steer away from the Palatine Blades is that I already have a unit of them. Then again I'll be using the Palatine Blade minis so there will be a definite aesthetic link.

Something came to my mind, you could just use them as regular Palatine Blades and have the shields for pure aesthetics if all else fails?

That's an option, but I've already got a unit of Palatine Blades. Although I could change the current unit to jump pack Blades...

Lovely looking shield, brother, I think an entire unit of either veterans with shields or just regular breachers would look awesome with that.

Thanks, dude! Veterans are another good option. They give me an opportunity to add some special weapons and customise the unit to a certain degree.

Thanks for looking ;)
