I just read through the whole thread (not that that's in anyway a hardship) and I found your purple recipe, but would you mind just quickly going over the recipes for the gold, silver and white? The gold is really very nice, I'm not a fan of gold generally but it looks very rich and not too bright, which I like; and the white is very very smooth. I'm gonna try an EC test model I think. I love purple, and I'm sure when I eventually get Betrayal I'll like the EC more, no doubt they're portrayed much better in there than in Fulgrim.

I'm running out of synonyms for "pretty" and "amazing" both.

 

I approve of the increased showing of gold plated boltguns as well :biggrin.:

"Pretty" and "amazing" never get old :tongue.: I can't remember where I first saw the gold plated boltguns, but I feel that they add a bit of variety and flair to the legionaries.

Yeah, I haven't checked out the details for ACT yet, but I heard it mentioned on the Eye of Horus podcast. If I can get everything in order by January I'd love to attend.

Yeah, no worries bro :smile.: All of my paint schemes are pretty basic. Gold: base coat Gehenna's Gold, wash with Agrax Earthshade, highlight with Runefang steel. Silver: base coat Ironbreaker, wash with Nuln Oil, highlight with Runefang Steel. White: base coat mix of Celestra Grey and Ceramite White (about 50/50), 'blackline' with a mix of Abaddon Black and Mechanicus Standard Grey, highlight with Ceramite White. The trick with the 'white' is to apply a couple of thin coats of the original mix to get a smooth and consistent effect :smile.:

 

 

 

 

ETL IV, VOW III: COMPLETE

 

I plan to use the bolter armed warriors as replacements for the plasma gun armed minis in my veteran tactical squads (so that I can use the squads as regular tactical squads). The sergeant with the plasma gun will lead a tactical support squad.

Haha, kind of... The plasma coils are painted with a base coat of Kantor Blue and then given a heavy dry brush with Enchanted Blue (not sure what the current equivalent would be, maybe Caledor Sky). After that I just add some white to the Enchanted Blue for the next dry brush layer. The last dry brush is done with pure whit. Once everything is properly dry, I use Guilliman Blue glaze to add some definition to the darker areas of the coils.

Thanks guys! I wasn't sure about the mini when I first saw it on the FW sight, but it's much better in person. It's also pretty straight forward to magnetise.

 

I'm trying to decide whether to make a new ETL vow and get this bad boy painted up :)

Are those Emperor's Children seeing anyone, because I want to marry them. They almost have a cell-shaded effect going on, which catches my eye anyways, but the gold is just perfect. I've struggled with GW's new gold range, so to see it working so well gives me hope it can be used to good effect. Looking forward to more!

I gotta say Kizz, you are the one and only person who has ever made me contemplate getting a Deredeo. Your eye for posing and proper legion decorum makes my IX Legion Heart sing :wink:

Haha, yeah the Deredeo mini doesn't really look that appealing in any of the FW pictures. It's one of those minis that is much better in person, although it is very plain and unadorned. On the other hand this makes it easy to customise and personalise :)

 

Am I the only one who thinks that your deredeo would look amazing with the helmet from the imperial fist contemptor? I think it would really wrap him up, to bad it would probably cost an arm and a leg. :sad.:

I'm hopping on the band wagon and trying my hand at converting one of the new AoS Liberators to a Custodes. I figured that I should probably try to make the best of a bad (read terrible) thing...

 

So far I've built the Custode's Guardian Spear and done a few minor conversions on the mini itself.

Good start with the spear. Looking forward to seeing it finished. Have you seen the new Eidolon model that's coming out? It's more and more likely I'm gonna pick up EC.

I was just going to say that I didn't like Eidolon's head and that it ruined the mini and then I saw this...

Much better! I'd still probably use a different head or helmet, but at least we know that the head is removable. When I first saw the pictures from the open day I thought that the hair was sculpted onto the chest. It's a big relief to see that it's not.

 

I'd love to see you do some Emperor's Children. They're a really fun Legion to paint and build. Plus they have the best looking minis :wink:

 

 

 

 

I've done some more work on my Custode. He is still very much a WIP and I need to wait for some green stuff to dry before I add more detail.

 

Which head do you guys and girls prefer?
