Am I the only one who thinks that your deredeo would look amazing with the helmet from the imperial fist contemptor? I think it would really wrap him up, to bad it would probably cost an arm and a leg. :(

I gotta say Kizz, you are the one and only person who has ever made me contemplate getting a Deredeo. Your eye for posing and proper legion decorum makes my IX Legion Heart sing :wink:

Haha, yeah the Deredeo mini doesn't really look that appealing in any of the FW pictures. It's one of those minis that is much better in person, although it is very plain and unadorned. On the other hand this makes it easy to customise and personalise :)

I'm hopping on the band wagon and trying my hand at converting one of the new AoS Liberators to a Custodes. I figured that I should probably try to make the best of a bad (read terrible) thing...

 

So far I've built the Custode's Guardian Spear and done a few minor conversions on the mini itself.

Good start with the spear. Looking forward to seeing it finished. Have you seen the new Eidolon model that's coming out? It's more and more likely I'm gonna pick up EC.

I was just going to say that I didn't like Eidolon's head and that it ruined the mini and then I saw this...

Much better! I'd still probably use a different head or helmet, but at least we know that the head is removable. When I first saw the pictures from the open day I thought that the hair was sculpted onto the chest. It's a big relief to see that it's not.

 

I'd love to see you do some Emperor's Children. They're a really fun Legion to paint and build. Plus they have the best looking minis :wink:

 

 

 

 

I've done some more work on my Custode. He is still very much a WIP and I need to wait for some green stuff to dry before I add more detail.

 

Which head do you guys and girls prefer?

I prefer the first one. I'm pretty sure there's some art in Collected Visions, might even be for Valdor, that has him with a Mohawk. And yes, the EC minis are stunning (bar Fulgrims head).

That Custodes is looking absolutely mint. i was of the opinion that the AOS Liberators were a little too dumpy to be fit-ins, but that's gone a long way to changing my mind. Also it totally has to be the mohawk head, and I would personally try to avoid using more grizzled heads all round.

Ha, Sean Connery, I didn't think of that :P Yeah, I picked the mohawked head as an option because of the Valdor art. I still can't decide on a head, and now i'm trying to make a Custodes helmet, but I'm not confident that it will turn out well.

Thanks, bro! Yeah, the AoS minis are pretty bulky, at least compared to the Custodes art in Collected Visions. I suppose he'll just have to be a more beefed up version of the Custodes.

Hahaha, I had a full beard until a couple of weeks ago, so I can definitely respect the power of facial hair :P

 

The Custodes look great mate. Almost as if they were designed to be used by SM players. What's their size next to marine if you don't mind me asking

Yeah, it's almost as if GW are trying to raise sales by introducing their most successful range into all of their games... :P

That looks great next to an actual marine. I think the beefyness is due more to the odd squatting stance he's been sculpted in. If he was standing up straight he'd look very much in proportion (and also slightly taller than a marine, like all good Custodes should be :P ). Excited to see more and soon!
