I'm sure you said you'd not do normal Alpha Legion marines.... eat those words.....

Very excited to see you do a nice big squad and how you give them that awesome touch of character!!

I'd certainly have the sabouteur in the black scheme, he's like the sneakiest of all sneakie beakies!!

If you've not got a compressor for the airbrush yet, check out eBay for a reasonable one or ping me a message, I regretted buying one blind so happy to advise you against following my mistakes!!!

The Saboteur is almost finished. All that is left to do is the weathering and the base (and glue in the combi-weapon).

I ended up going with my usual blue colour scheme. The black Effrit scheme would have made a lot more sense for a sabotage/stealth expert, but I enjoy painting the blue scheme and I feel that it works better with the Alpha Legion decals. So rule of cool won out...

Hopefully I'll get him finished tomorrow :)

Really looking forward to where you go with these MKVI kits. I know you will not disappoint!

Thanks bro! They've been fun to assemble so far. I'm looking forward to getting some paint on them.

Yeah the rules look good so far.  A little surprised they didn't get a RoW with access to Drop pods though.  Looks like i'll be running orbital assault.

Yeah, I'm surprised too, considering the artwork for the Legion drop pod in Betrayal specifically mentions that the VI and XII Legion specialise in drop pod assaults. Remember that you don't need to take Orbital Assault to take Dreadclaws and Kharybdii, and with Grey Slayers as troops (with their 5pt power weapons...) assault transports will be key.

Oh my, that's some resin! For the Saboteur I would recommend a Effrit scheme, it física perfectly with it's kind of tactics.

Yeah, the Effrit scheme would definitely make more sense, but I decided to go with the rule of cool...

Why not a mixture of the 2 schemes? Ifrit black for the majority of the arbor, with AL blue as an accent color.
Either way, he looks boss; great use of the Mor Deythan kit. Makes me want to pick one up for a Vigilator/conversion use > <

I kind of did the opposite, blue as the main colour with the 'black' as an accent colour.

Yeah, the Mor Deythan are really nice minis. I plan to use them as the base for most of my Alpha Legion HQs.

Cool use of the RG shoulder pads, wish they did them as an upgrade kit. I'd keep the sabatour black, I feel he would be part of the effrit team.

They're just the Mor Deythan shoulder pads which come attached to the mini. And yes black would have been the sensible option...

Hahahaha, you got me... although there won't be any large squads at the moment (the MkVI will be a Veteran Tactical unit).

I haven't made any further progress on the airbrush yet. I'll probably try to finish off the Alpha Legion using my current scheme before I move on to my next Heresy project with the airbrush.

The saboteur looks good. I can't chirp in about what paint job to go with but I know you will make it look ace.

Must also say yeah, the mk vi armor does have more dynamic leg poses. I think most sets only have one running set of legs.

Thanks bro, glad you like him!

I all ready have a Kharybdis and 2 Anvillus on the way. Plus loads of dread drop pods and regular plastic ones.  Fancy Dropping in my Contemptors and the Leviathan and having the slayers drop in with a couple of combo meltas few PW and a Great Frost Blade and AA on the Huscarl.

Great model, the crisp finish is awesome. While the blue colour does look great I must disagree with you on the decals issue, I think they look even better with black as a base because of the contrast they make. But of course they're your models so do as you like, I certainly agree on doing what you think that it's the coolest, more painters should follow that guideline!

Sounds good bro! I'll look forward to seeing some of your work (tu)

Geez Kizz... each dude has gotten better and I'm a lil afraid of what you'll be doing after the KMA class;)

So did you airbrush anything on this guy??

About to order a detail brush and build myself an exhaust booth with an indoor air scrubber so I can airbrush indoors as it's gonna be winter here for 3 more months

Thanks for the kind words :tu:

Stunning as usual. I've now become a full on fanboi of your work!

I know the army is getting close to the point where a full army shot is getting more and more difficult, but hopefully we can see the full array of forces soon?

Chris

Hahaha, glad to here that you're enjoying the Alphas!

I'll see what I can do about an army shot (although I've only added the Saboteur, Techmarine, and ten Veterans since the last army shot) :)

Might have been sensible to go with black but he looks cool as hell in blue. I'm sure there are some loose shoulder pads maybe they were in the Dark Furries kit.

Thanks bro! The right shoulder pads are modelled to the minis but the left shoulder pads and arms are seperate from the main mini (but the arms and shoulder pads are still one piece).

Hahaha, I've got no idea what I'm going to paint after the MKA course...

No, I haven't started using the airbrush yet. I don't really want to much around with it too much until I've done the course. Plus I want to use the same techniques throughout my Alpha Legion army, so I'll try to resist switching to the airbrush halfway through a project.

Really like the paint job you do on all these minis plus the conversions :-)

Thanks a lot bro!

Yeah...that hits the spot!

Thanks, glad you like how he turned out!

Thanks for looking ;)

The Veterans are nearly done. All that's left to do is the weathering, bases, and combi-weapons :smile.:

I ran out of the smallest size of 'chain' decals... :sad.:

Looks like they're dancing. :laugh.:

What happened to the Techmarine from a few weeks back? Did you ever make him a servo-arm as you mentioned you would?

Hahaha, yeah usually FW/GW marine kits are too static. The MkVI has the opposite issue...

I've got a servo-arm for the Techmarine (stollen from one of my IW Obliterator conversions). I just need to do a bit of work on it and repaint it. It's not really a priority at the moment though.

Thanks for looking

Edit: 100 pages!! Who would have thought it? (and 500,000+ views...).
