ephrael
I found a few companies that have products you might find helpful for your work . index.php Zinge Industries make flexible ammo belts in various sizes. I'm sure that they make one that fits a standard sized Bolter/StormBolter. http://stores.ebay.com/Blood-and-Skulls-Industry Machinator's Blood and Skulls Industry might just have some replacement/conversion parts for your Landraider's melted engines. The_Chaplain
Squaky: wouldn't it just? Sorely tempted to give it a shot. Mikhail: Thanks for the links man, Zinge Industries ammo belts are exactly the kind of thing that'd be perfect for that combi-melta! So, have I got a treat for you all today. Remember that Red Scorpions dreadnought? I had some fun with it today: Hanging on by a wing and a prayer at the moment-- the templar dreadnought pieces were pinned into place (haven't been glued yet). A lot of gap filling and some resculpting needs to be done now; but now that the hard part is over-- the rest should fall into place in short order. Also, had some trouble getting the hammer arm to fit on the biker captain again-- so he got a new hammer and some spiffy shoulderpads That's it for today folks! Have a good weekend! Firepower
*Maybe not so inexplicably, we have a new member of the family and she's very curious about all things tinier than her (and is obviously interested in warhammer because of that). Allow me to introduce JINX! Xeno psyker kitten! XENO PSYKER KITTEN! It even has a name that reeks of foul magics! I warned you! I warned you, but did you listen to me? 'Ohhh no, it's just a harmless little kitten isn't it?' Well it's always the same! I always tell them but 'Ohh no...' Well I'll be over here with my chainsword and torches, reciting Litanies of Purity. I'll be waiting for if when you need me. The_Chaplain
So the dremmel worked huh? Also where'd you get the Iron Hands Thunder Hammer? yep, it sure did. Got an iron hands pack a while back-- around when I got the warpsmith-- primarily for the bionic arms, heads, etc. if you want the shoulder pads you're welcome to them on our next hobby day vash. And Firepower-- if kittens were as devious and heretical as you claim my soul would've been forfeit a long time ago. We have 4 cats currently; an have had 10 over the course of my life so far. Now if they were rats? I'd totally back you, 500% Edited September 6, 2014 by The_Chaplain

The_Chaplain
Hey folks- hope you've all been well. This week I've been on the med; threw my back out on Sunday. Got some quality time at the table so far though, so it isn't a total wash. Here are some pictures of some of the things I've tinkered with the last couple days, enjoy! Fitted and glued the BT torso to the red scorpion chassis- began filling the gaps with milliput (not planning on making it 100% flush since I will likely add cables so it looks sufficiently mechanical). Cut the Iron Warrior dreadnought head to fit into the alcove before gluing it into place. Removed a greave from the BT dreadnought after removing the maltese cross off the shield, and pinned it onto the pair of scorpion dreadnought legs. Hollowed out the second Enkomi pad and put it on the chaplain's powerfist arm. I'm debating what kind of ornamentation the powerfist casing needs; my heart is telling me filigree of some sort, but that would involve some delicate sculpting. Decisions, decisions. Mikhail-- I'm moving the crozius, just need to figure out where to stick it. Pinned an Iron Halo onto the future counts as Androcles-- then reinforced the join and made it all flush and square with some milliput. Gonna see about reposing some MK III legs with hot water later on and get this guy standing. Once that's done I'll figure out chest ornamentation (really want to make a chain tabard like the 2005 games day model, but I'm afraid it'd kill me in the process). Last but not least, some pretty significant work on the Emperor's Champion: Reposed the arms using a hair dryer, pin, milliput a wing and a prayer before attaching the Castellan Crowe hands. Then, pinned the hands the terminator praetor sword hilt and stock Emperor's champion sword together. Got a couple gaps to fill, sand, etc. but this model is really coming together (and I could not be happier with how it is shaping up-- he looks like a total badass, the way a champion should be). That's it for today guys-- I'll keep plugging away on models, but won't be able to get pics up until next update. Fiance's photographing a wedding so she needs her camera back. So, until next time! Vash113
Things are starting to come together. I like the sword, could use a little more straightening but I'm sure you'll have it looking even better soon.
The_Chaplain
Things are starting to come together. I like the sword, could use a little more straightening but I'm sure you'll have it looking even better soon. Thanks. Yeah, I've been fiddling with it and I think it's fairly straight after the most recent hot water bath. Still needs a little tinkering. So, here are some pictures before I head off to Shenandoah for some camping this weekend. Removed the lower trim off of the Iconoclast kit so that it should sit flush with the landraider armor kit that Subtle Discord is working on. I managed to get the plastic GW hurricane bolters into the sponsons by drilling through the mount points supplied in the default conversion kit. The sponsons were actually broken on one side (snagged them off a raider I nabbed at Nova open for a paltry sum which should fix the prometheus problem once I scrub off roughly 5 LAYERS OF PAINT). The landraider sensors arent sitting flush, so I'll see about getting some of the sensors from the squadron command frame for the job. I worked on the farings for the chaplain, second special weapon, banner bearer, and champion bikers. I need to fiddle with the angle on the banner biker specifically and add some detailing with the chaplain's faring. I also sculpted some cloth folds over the milliput on the banner, and filled in the gaps in the banner topper. Next time I'm at the table, I will add exhausts from the ravenwing command squad onto the apothecary and banner bikers for uniformity throughout the squad. That's it for now folks, have a nice weekend! C&C welcomed and appreciated! The_Chaplain
Hello again faithful followrs! I'm back from my excursion out in the wilderness with another picture update! I removed a recently purchased land raider from it's ~2 week soak in green stuff, and set to work on removing all the nasty gunk and grime off of it. Here is the tank after an initial 1 hour toothbrush scrub: And after about 8 more hours, here is where the tank stands now: I removed the stock landraider turret hatch, replacing it with the ones from the Prometheus (which turned out to be marginally trickier than I expected, as well as the top door for the assault ramp. A series of cat-tastophies have left me searching for some miscellanious parts as well as performing repairs on models that were knocked to the floor (including the biker chaplain who had his brazier backpack break into about 3 pieces. Utter pain to fix). One such bit was one of the legs from a set of Legion Mk 3 legs for the "androcles" model, but I stumbled upon a suitable replacement pair: Just need to reposition the one leg with hot water, but the Enkomi legs fit the bill rather nicely. I'll see what else I can get done this week, but been a bit preoccupied trying to handle a bunch of crap that's sprung up. But first I'm gonna get on the horn and call my sister who's birthday is today! (Hopefully I can get her on the phone before she records more vocals for her band's CD) Until next time! The_Chaplain
Superb rescue work on that 'Raider! Could you actualy see anything before you dumped it in strip no. 1, or was it just a blob of paint? Hahaha, believe it or not-- it was very deceiving. I sincerely thought there was maybe 1 or 2 layers of paint, but in fact there were about 5. You could still see quite a lot of detail, but once the paint started to come off (with the help of some elbow grease and a few tools like a gouge) I saw just how bad the damage really was. ++EDIT++ Tinkering with the gap filling on the combo dreadnought, I decided to try out various wire and cable bits: Taken from the chaos Warpsmith, armoured cable segments fill the gap pretty :cuss well. I just saved myself a good chunk of time with this little gem. Edited September 24, 2014 by The_Chaplain geektom 1 Back to top

The_Chaplain
Great save, Chaplin! Thanks Geektom! On the topic of landraiders, yours is progressing nicely! That DOES work well! Any idea when this beastie will be done or are the ideas still forming? There are a couple of areas that need to be touched up and addressed: the arches on the triptychs broke off or were damaged on the chassis. Those will need to be resculpted. Also, should the siege drill be open like it is currently, or closed? The circular mount plate will need to be resculpted (going to use a press mold for it I think). The area right behind the sarcophagus plate needs to be blocked back out, and cables need to be run under the plating to complete the circuit. I need to fabricate a new collar join to the armor on this side, tidy up the other side and add some cable. Need to fill in the gap on the top of the sarcophagus, probably with some smaller cable bundles. I'll also need to fabricate a hunter killer missile system to mount in that circular mount point (the ones in the plastic ironclad kit look like spring loaded toy launchers and I positively abhor them). I am open to suggestions on that front, I have no idea how to make them from scratch. Lastly, I need to make a base and find a forgeworld multi-melta for it. The flamestorm cannon sounds appealing and all with its s6 ap3, but at the end of the day its a flamer template and it just stinks out loud for range. When? Depending on table time and finances, it could be done relatively soon actually (which is a prospect I am completely happy with, because it means I can prime it, box it and have it ready for next year's ETL and away from potential cat destruction.) I have repurposed Chaplain Seraphicus into a sternguard sergeant: Any suggestions on what to put on the backpack where the censers used to be? I don't know of too many tech/sensors that would fit. The_Chaplain
Oh goody, something came in the mail today! Oh yeah, that's some sweet, sweet extra armour fresh off of eBay (thanks to my grandmother for the check large enough to snag this!) . You can see that the front armor doesn't sit 100% flush with the main armor body. Some milliput and elbow grease should rectify that however. Sanded the back of the armor segment here so it would sit flush with the main body. The opposite side has a small gap that needs to be hot water bended and filled. Both sides have a spacing gap between the armor and extra armour now, but that will be gap filled and sanded. And here is the beast with her beautiful up-armored sponsons. That's all for tonight guys, just wanted to share this with you. I'm really happy with how this kit looks in person! The_Chaplain
Wow, you are putting some serious work in! Hahaha, thanks. Truth be told, I feel like I have to really push the envelope, almost like a competition; there are a lot of really talented members of this board-- I don't think I can compare with the majority of them, but I try. By the Emperor! These conversions are all so... beautiful! Thank you brother. It's a labor of love, but ultimately worth it for an army I'll be able to call 100% unique and my own. Nice! Don't suppose you have written any fluff for your chapter? Yep, I sure do. Vash113 was kind enough to help me pen down all the collected ideas I've had for this chapter as well as contributing several of his own. You can read it all here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286742-confessors-rewrite-new-sections-added-3114/ (And you should absolutely read other articles he has written such as the comprehensive space wolf history in their sub-forum. He is quite the talented writer, and I'm glad to have him as a friend, especially for as long as I have). Not much to report guys, working on some odds and ends-- might be able to get some pictures up tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm going to go watch top chef duels! Have a great night! The_Chaplain
Here are the pictures I said I might be able to get up today; Began resculpting the undercarriage of the siege dreadnought including the circular rotation well and the sarcophagus housing. Once these initial sculpts are dry, I'll go over them again to block out the housing, add rivets, sand them, etc. I'll also drill some holes to create an end housing for the cables running down the front of the chassis. Let me preface this next bit by saying I hate reposing legs on models, it is a pain in the ass; but I'm the one who decided I wanted to model crusaders in crusader squads charging, so I really brought this on myself. A relatively simple repose of a pair of legs from the new tactical squad box; had to fill in some gaps with milliput. A kit bash of a leg from the Death Company box, as well as a leg off of a space marine biker. His chainsword kept faling off, even when pinned so I gave him a whole new friggin' arm. Here is a head on, dynamic shot of that same crusader. The foot about to make contact with the asphalt road has a small gap that will be covered with some snow when basing is complete, and will hopefully contribute a sense of weight and movement to the model-- sprinting into the road, bringing his pistol to bear to shoot some heathen or xeno that caught his ire. I also decided to make lemonade out of lemons, and started de-chaosifying the legs of certain chosen from the Dark Vengeance box. This will be a time consuming process, but I think the end results will speak for themselves. The goal is to turn these ragged loincloths into tabards and parchment loincloths with some flow to them. Think sanguinor or astorath in terms of parchment. Gotta cover that chaos tainted origins somehow. Removed the 8 pointed star icon off this set, will replace it either with a chunky aquila or a lantern I think. Debating whether or not to keep any of the riveted trim or just to shave it all off. If the DV leg conversions go off without a hitch, I might look into other leg sets; like from the warp talon/raptor box-- just for some variety. That's all for today folks-- until next time!
