As for recommendations, I'd say black, or brown or green - depending on the look you are going for.

Esinhorn used black to great effect here:

Most noticable in the crevices on the boots of the marines.

the golds are just balthasar gold.

That's a problem, imo. The gold looks way too flat, it really needs a highlight in a couple places. The green looks good though.

Hell yeah. That dirthy green realy suits, works nicly with the black. Love the eye lenses too.

is that actually the first black legion? lol. looks good(one and all) though you may want to have the light source behind you when you take the pic as i cant see much as this side is mostly in shadow, which dosent help when its black... keep them comming guys. your inspiring me with mine!

and john very interesting scheme you go there, i like it!

Hey Everyone *waves* thought I give you all an update on my Legionnaires, I did a little vote for what you like to see next in my hall of honour post and the only vote i got for was my Ravenwing Imposter/Infiltrator Biker so from about 11:30 am Sunday till 2 am Monday I worked non stop to finish the first of the unit of 5 for you all to see. so here ya go.

Distance shot:

gallery_14366_7738_1134026.jpg

here he is from a distance, the idea of this pic is that if you look at him from a distance you don't notice to much of something is amiss of the squad and looking at em from the front they kinda look just like ravenwing which is the point! (i can already see this getting confusing when i play against actual ravenwing but... such is life)

Upclose:

gallery_14366_7738_766377.jpg

and here are the more up close detail shots of him when you pick himup and look at him. the green and blue feathers and side symbols are to match the look of the rest of the army colors to help tell me whose who as well as I did the scale work as you can see in areas on the bike and him. and I even freehanded the Hydra marker on his kneecap which... was very annoying to do but i managed *nods*

I still think i need to add either one more area of scales or another mark somewhere on him so please tell me what you think is there a spot you put my scales or mark or something on the rider or should i just leave it as is?

Cheers,

David.

Nothing fantastic this, but I thought I coud post it even though I am several hundred kilometres from most of the other painters here on this thread :)

I guess its painted to a playable standard though, even though its nothing like the rest of the stuff on this thread, which I am very well aware! ;)

My hellbrute:

If anyone knows of a quick fix to make it look better, I hardly mind tips ;)

Urk, never mind. I see now that I should have varnished it immediatly :/ Need to flick on some paint apparantly :s

Hello :)

First of all, by kilometres, I actually meant "quality". Sorry about that lame and confusing methaphor :)

I play Iron Warriors and Thousand Sons. The hellbrute in question is supposed to be an Iron warrior. Its certainly a bit embarrasing, as I would not have posted it in the first place had I noticed that the paint had been scratched away on a few spots (have yet to varnish it), and this became all too obvious to me when I looked at the picture of it. Oh, and certainly, I assure you, I know of several Norwegians that are very, very good painters indeed. However, I am not among those ;)

Sad truth is that I have been collecting since the late 90s (40k anyway, used to play fantasy before that), but I have not been, ehem, what one can call a fast painter. Last few weeks have been something of a record for me, with a finished daemon prince, terminator squad and now that almost completed dread. I have been pretty much on and off, regarding the hobby the last decade or so. One year, I have played a lot, another year, almost not at all.

Anyway, I digress.

Edit: The base is not at all finished actually (thought the model was closer to finish than it appeared to be though :/ )

This is an example of a finished base from one of last years oblits: gallery_68542_7762_1648591.jpg

I decided to raid my bitz box and Chaos up the Dark Vengeance Terminators. I have built a couple FW Chaos Termie kits, so I had a ton of Chaos bitz to use on them!

Mould lines will be cleaned before painting!

I've removed DA symbols, but left purity seals on them as I will be painting these guys as Word Bearers, and parchment is an acceptable decoration:

Sweet conversions!

This is the test for a chosen scheme, its not quite done obviously with the cork attached to the base, but I am going to get the bits I missed along the way when I work on the next one. First time painting a PA chaos mini, it sure has a lot more fiddly bits on it than regular marines but these models are pretty awesome. I decided to go with a pretty generic scheme but I think I like it. Let me know what you think and keep 'em coming.
