I was a bit concerned that the third vindie wouldn't fit in, obviously I worried needlessly. You nailed it!!!

Well done Brother, well done indeed!

It just needs a driver etc. to be truly orsum.

s

Holy. Crizap.

This makes me want to go out and buy 3 vindicators right now!!!

Your freehand angel mural came out really good! I was going to suggest that you could do the scythe version without alteration, because the Sacred Standard of Devestation has an angel with a scythe on it. (And I think it'd fit with the Heavy Support theme, ala Devestator squads). But it turned out awesome-looking regardless!

Do you have any secret for that utterly perfect DA Icon mural? Or is it just your incredibly talented and steady hand?

NOTE: I also LOVE the quote you picked. It suggests each of the tanks is one of the afformentioned swords. Just so awesome.

@ Bobz: Give me a chance for full orsumness - its only been 4 days :cuss

@furioso-prime & Cactus: Thanks brothers. Glad you like them.

@Avon Rekaes: Do it - you can always use them as Rhinos as well.

I want to do a little bit more to the mural - lighten it up so it stands out a bit more and helps to balance the wingtip on the right hand side.

The DA icon is pure freehand thanks to my new glasses B)

I used a pencil outline first then blocked it in with many, many layers of watered down skull white (lost count at 8 layers). The biggest problem was getting it balanced over the 3 shields but it was all on the fly, hand-eye stuff :D

The quote came from a brain freeze as what text to use so I flicked through the codex and it just jumped out as being perfect for a linebreaker squadron. It also gave me the names for the tanks (I always struggle picking names). I need to reposition the names on Zeal and Duty to the same position as Purity, it just looks better there.

Awesome stuff Elmo... I too must steal this at some point when I'm better at free hand. It's been many years since I painted seriously and it shows, but the Path to Redemption is a perfect way to get back in shape. I do have one question for you. I see you're doing fourth company according to the markings on the Rhino. I too am working on that company (Last real army was Deathwing) and I wanted to see if you have any secrets to share with the upper checkerboard effect in the company markings. Especially on the knee of a tac marine.

Thanks and man you get me fired up to paint more... I appreciate that

Paint the knee white

Using a small brush with watered down black:

Divide horizontally in half (left hand diagram)

Divide the upper half vertically and horizontally in half again (centre diagram)

Add 2 more vertical lines on the left and right of the centre line (right hand diagram)

Block out the black squares as required

Paint the lower half bleached bone

Tidy up the white

Done ;)

For vehicles I cheat blatently and use the decal but paint the lower half in bleached bone. ^_^

Thanks for the kind words brothers - but don't commit seppuku with your paintbrushes

They are so well planned - excellent trio.

Thanks bevulf - but I have to admit I did not fully plan it and when I got to the last one I had to scratch my head a little to work out what to do on the Shield

I think the Watchers came to my aid at the moment of need ^_^

Elmo9141:

A terrifying trio for the enemies of the Unforgiven, brother. I know you have a small magnet addiction. Are the front ends removable to run with other vehicle variants? Is the DA symbol on the tech marine's shoulder a decal, or just free handing perfection?

These are incredible.

FC

@Fallen Avenger: ;)

@FinylCut:

You can strip the vehicle down to just a chassis with no front plate - the Vindi / Rhino front plates are magnetised and the Siege Shield is "quick fit".

In principle the one chassis can be turned into a Rhino / Razorback / Whirlwind / Predator with or without sponsons or a Vindicator as long as you have the bits ;)

The tutorial is in my signature - just click on "Magnetising Tutorials".

It is a decal :D

I have just trimmed the excess/ matt varnished and blended it into the shoulderpad.

I need to see a doctor about my magnet addiction :(

The quote is from the DA codex, Page 32 - fitting methinks

Elmo, you sunuvagun... that is so brilliant that I am speachless..... yup can type but can't speak.... I will have to start awarding special talent medals and medallios out at this arte.. B) I am so glad that you wear the green of caliban!

Thanks Elmo, That helps a bit :P I'll give it a try this weekend :(

Elmo, those are freakin' awesome! That multi-shield mural adds so much to what could be a very plain set of simple big guns. They really are amazing and you should be really proud of that paint job, I really, really dig 'em (and hopefully I never have to be on the other side of them staring at the artwork that's about to kill my guys).

Fantastic work!

@furioso-prime: moving to room 42 now!!!

@The Shadow Guard: So am I - it gives me soooo much inspiration :D

@Wraithwing: Thanks muchly - fearing the DA can only be a good thing.

@Brother Kovash: :D

@Master Matthius: your welcome - let me know how it works for you.

@Bryan Blaire: Praise from the DA master is praise indeed ;)

@SickSix: Thanks - I'm sure your project will turn out great but don't forget to post the pictures.

Thanks to all ho have commented so far - you guys are my inspiration to keep pushing myself :( ;)

Apologies to all those who have come to expect my weekly Friday update - I was enjoying myself at a party so had no time to upload.

Here are the new photos of the wip on Purity:

All she needs is a bit more DA bling and the final weathering and the Linebreaker Squadron will be all done :D

Does she need a Techmarine crewman or a standard DA? I am split between the 2 at the moment.

Here are some better photos of Purity, Zeal and Duty together:
