Bit more work on Vulkan..

I think im going to struggle to get him finished by the space marine GD.. but that's the aim.. Atm his base is the most daunting thing for me i think as i always get told to bring more contrast and "pop" (hence why hes almost neon green rather than the more muted tones for everything else i paint)

Me too.. He's taken far too long really but I'm hoping the end result will be worth it!

Done some work on his base and a little more on him.. Starting to get a feel for how he'll look when hes finished.

Also been scupting a helmet.. figured it was time i started project proper DG helmets again

I've wanted FW to release uncorrupted plague marine helmets since the start of the heresy releases.. (Mark Bedford still has the original ones i think..) But seeing as that seems to be destined to never happen I'm just gonna do it myself! I've got a few butchered PM heads in the army already but i want a steady source so I shall attempt to cast this one once ive finished it.

Most of the base was just sprayed with halfords grey over a black base, drybrushed with vallejo sky grey and then hit with multiple weathering powders (mig concrete, dry mud and a few of the fw earth ones (light and medium i think)

Thank a lot for the info, sounds like what I suspected you had done :)

Thanks guys, the cloak is something i knew what i wanted to do with the moment i decided i was going to paint him. It was a big blank bit of skin & some of the pacific island vibes the sallies have meant doing the cloak with that style of tattoo was a must.

Glad somebody does! I've got some more work done on him today and am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've always struggled with getting enough contrast into competition models according to every judge ever.. So hopefully the big neon green man with flames should do it for them and i might actually get somewhere!

redid the pteruges to get a little more colour into them.. though im unsure what colour i want the 3 gems by his waist to be atm.

Vulkan is now pretty much finished.. gonna be doing touch up work until saturday night i reckon.. But "as a whole" he is done.. Don't think i've ever spent this much energy on one model before, but hopefully he'll get some recognition and not be overlooked.. Anyone who is at the 40k open day feel free to come say hi.. Theres a high probability that ill have my online handle on my back during the day.

Another year another disappointment.. I'm not particularly impressed with some of the decisions that were made but theres nothing i can do about it.

So onto something new to take my mind off it.

figured i'd do something totally different so im doing quite a sharp "clean" Eidolon with NMM to pull me totally out of my comfort zone.. doing the base in entirely nmm will be a nice challenge.

I used an airbrush for the basic colors on the armour (fw paints chemos purple and whatever the pink ones called) but then glazed the armour with several thin layers to blend the colours together and add shadow by mixing in black. (Legs have this done.. upper body, arms etc havent yet)

The base is a imp fist deredeo dreadnought
