Brother Tyrax

I would love to see a small tutorial on your scar/head wound recipe. between this and the cordite burned Marine and the one above. Cheers mate!

For the burnt face I did the following -

Dab typhus corrosion lightly in the pattern you want the wound to be.

Apply a very thin touch of flesh tone (your choice) to the typhus but make sure not to obscure the base layer.

Score deep lines with the hobby drill (knife is too clean a cut).

Fill the scored lines with Tamiya clear red.

Dab nuln oil wash into the Tamiya before it dries and a flesh wash around the wound area.

Then I did a very watered down nuln oil for the cordite burning.

For the above picture, the puckered scars are simply Tamiya clear red over Kislev flesh and a line of Baal Red wash over the top.

Thanks brother, I like to think I'm getting better at faces.

+UPDATE+

So today my younger cousin (9 years old) came round to mine with my aunt and gave me a pleasant surprise. He waltzes in with the Blood Angels codex I gave him last year (he seemed rather disinterested at the time) and asks me what HQ he should have for his Flesh Tearers army that he wants to begin this summer. So, we sat down with the Codex, he made a Captain with appropriate wargear to his choosing and then we attacked my bitz boxes. Below is the result and his first ever miniature. He picked the parts and the posing, I stuck it all together.

Hey, that's the same age that I started the game!

Yup, all 6, about to be 7,years ago!

Glad to know that the game can still draw younger audiences, since most of us are too stuck to phones, video games, and the next horribly untalented pop stars.

Keep him interested!!!

The new malevolent is looking good! Definitely great work on the scars.

Your nephew is also a lucky man because I wished my first HQ looked that good. Also, where is that fellas head from? I can't help but notice the chin strap being something I've yet to see. Is it from the plastic centurions?

I started when I was 8 years old, so I've 17 years of not having a clue what I'm doing under my belt!

Sure is, I'm rather tempted to paint it metal and pucker the flesh just above it so it looks like his bottom jaw is a metal replacement but we'll see what I do with him when it comes to the painting day the little dude wants to do.

Thank you Ludovic, it's certainly been a journey. The goal is in sight, but the end is never coming! I should be able to field a full battle company, fully painted, soon.

To complete the first squad of meltarain in my on going experiment in war-gear. I present Legionnaire Heracles wielding the Marauder pattern assault-melta 'Forethought'.

Sternguard heavy flamer ?

Only just noticed, because of your conversion, that it'd make a good base for an autocannon too......

Bingo. Although, never thought about an auto cannon one.

I like the conversion!

It looks really good, especially with the pain scheme you took.

Consider it copied!

Copy away!

On my table I have a few more heavy weapons Marines to do to fill some gaps in the Tactical squads but I've also dusted off my MoS in TDA from when I used the BT Codex. I might give him a re-paint and some magnets and run him as a Chapter Master with dual TH and TH/SE.

+UPDATE+

I've updated the first post on the first page with something more suitable for this collection of images, experiments and bouts of insanity. Taking a lead from some of our more distinguished hobbyists, I've given my WIP plog an introduction, I hope you go back and read it, please do enjoy.

Now, for another Melta Marine to complete my Meltarain. Also, a poor unfortunate Star Phantom who'll be getting a healthy does of reality soon.

That awkward moment when you realise you melted someone's face (and half-torso, and arm) off, but he just wanted a high-five.

You missed a couple mould lines on the most recent MM MM. sweat.gif

But my guy did return the high five! Setting 5! ;)

Yeah, the mould lines escaped me on this one. I honestly didn't catch them until I started applying the yellow in earnest and I didn't want to screw up the process. I'll come back and address it at some point in the future when I can be bothered to curl paint off.
