The rain turned the fields before the walled Hive of Krevin into a sucking quagmire, its sticky caustic substance eager to drag the inattentive to a shallow and suffocating grave. The 3rd Crusade Company under the command of Captain Remus Tyrax had successfully defended Kazon Hive and its manufactorums against a marauding warband led by a notorious warrior of the World Eaters. Having blunted that assault, the Captain took half of the company and proceeded off world in search of fresh rebellion in the sector, leaving behind the heaviest of his war host. There stood but one more Hive city to be cracked open and its rebellious inhabitants put to the sword. The low, constant whine of power packs cut through the sound of the heavy rain, the whir of servo assisted limbs and the clunk of ceramite foot falls heralded the approach of Astartes ready for war. The companies whirlwind retaliator batteries had been pounding the defenders atop the walls of Krevin Hive for three days, while the venerable vindicator siege tanks fired massive shells at the gate house, hoping to bring it down under their combined fire. It would take another three days for the heaviest of the deployed forces to arrive, a mighty tank carrying a Dreadhammer Siege cannon. Vladvar the Confessor watched the blossoms of fire as shells erupted against the walls before him and he smirked to himself beneath his helmet. His heavy assault Astartes marched past, large shields raised on high to deflect incoming fire while Land Raider fighting vehicles churned the mud beneath their tracks, dark lances of las fire shearing weapon emplacements from the battlements. In time, Vladvar mused, the walls will fail and all within shall have the chance to confess..

Siege Master Vladvar the Confessor (an ode to The_Chaplain who's advice has been very valuable) is ready for painting. Kitted out with the Primarch's Wrath/Storm Bolter, Teeth of Terra/Chain Sword/Relic Blade and the Shield Eternal/Storm Shield. He carries an Auspex on his belt and mounts a personal targeting system to help him better coordinate the battlefield.

Cheers,

BT

If you saw him standing around outside your Hive you'd just open the gates, wouldn't you? He's clearly coming in sooner or later, so make it sooner and hope that your acquiescence puts him in a merciful frame of mind (c'ause clearly you done gakked up to draw his attention in the first place).

Vladvar looks pretty kickass BT-- if I can get the macro working ill try and get pics of my siege master WIP up. Thanks for the tribute brother-- always happy to help!

Thanks fella. You should definitely snap some pics of your SM.

That's the image I wanted to portray with him so I'm glad you picked up on it! The idea behind the pose is one of "Don't make me come in there!".

I was doing some cleaning and some repairs today and I figured I'd get out everything I have and give it a dust off. Then I thought hell, why not just take some progress shots of the army.

Here is the 3rd Crusade Company, all in it's 8408 points all together so far.

It's a slow process but it's getting there. I'd like to field it as a complete SAV list at some point, really make my opponents head hurt. I have plans to pick up some more tanks to round of some squadrons and pick up a Knight Castigator for some titan support.

Below is a small Chaos army I've come into possession of, these are the models I could salvage as useable, the rest were in too bad a shape. I've got the Codex (a friend is using it at the moment so I don't have it to hand) and I have a Typhus kicking around somewhere, so I'm thinking Deathguard is probably the smartest choice considering there's 14 Plague Marines in there. What do you guys think?

Ain't it Glorious. Great Army shot.

Thanks Sarge, I hope to have it all done by September. Got a big old Apocalypse game in line for my birthday shenanigans.

Small update, got Vladvar to a comfortable level, I can now start detailing and washing him. What do you guys think of my Siege Master?

Krevin lay cracked open, a smoking carcass plagued by destruction and death. It had taken four hours more than expected to puncture the massive reinforced doors of Krevin Hive than the Siege Master had anticipated. That had made him angry. The siege cannons pummeled the walls around the gatehouse enough to disable the shielding device that thwarted all but the most direct energy attacks on the venerable gates themselves, the added ferocity of the mass reactive shells soon smashed through and laid the Hive open to the Marines that waited without. The Confessor ordered the vanguard forward, their shields taking the brunt of the defensive fire, few were cut down but most met the breach with roaring bolters, protected by the extra layers of ceramite and adamantium that made up the shields. They formed a semi circle within the walls and allowed the assault element of the vanguard to enter the city. The Marines crashed into the heretic defenders like the tsunamis this world was famous for. Flamers spat great plumes of promethium fueled death into the enemy, incinerating swathes of men. The furious attack by chainswords and lightning claws sent limbs cascading, bodies jerking as they were ripped asunder. It didn't take long before defenders fled from the assault. In a last ditch effort to repel the invaders, the traitor guardsmen threw their last Leman Russ battle tanks against the Marines. This was met by Centurion war suits clawing their way through the breach, bringing the awesome destructive potential of their gravity manipulating weaponry to bear. The tanks did little damage before they were reduced to no more than piles of scrap, blood gushing from the compacted steel. Vladvar the Confessor strode into the routed city and ordered his soldiers to purge it sector by sector. None were to be spared, all were condemned, they did not supplicate themselves before him.

AWESOME!!!!

Thanks Sarge, I have some nasty plans involving him, a Stalker unit and Interceptor.

Awesome marines brother. Just tons of character in the thread. I'll be back time and again to "borrow" ideas as my Marines Malevolent army grows I'm sure.

Thanks fella, I promised myself when I started this project a few years ago that each Marine would tell his own story. I like to think I've captured that for the most part. I really want to get across the idea that they are a fleet based Chapter constantly at war with very little support from the wider Imperium. I like to see what I can kitbash together to add just a little bit of flavour to them, everything that isn't out-of-the-box I've dubbed Marauder pattern. Feel free to borrow anything mate.

Smashing stuff, love the background fluff!

Thanks Pearson, I'm glad you like the updates.

+Update+

I managed to scrounge enough parts to build another Rhino chassis, I was lacking tracks and hatches though so I've had to flash out for some bits. This is my counts as Stalker (because I can't drop dollar bills on a new box with work training right now), what do you guys reckon?

gallery_41766_10176_65843.jpg

The turret for the Predator also came through, I much prefer these to the standard ones, so if I get any more Rhino's come my way they'll be getting these.

I also got round to digging out my Deathwatch (sternguard) as they've not seen game since the Kill Team tourney they were built for. Their loadout was too expensive and eclectic for regular games so they are now a 5 man dual heavy flamer squad. I intend to razor back them as a back field anti eldar unit. I might even sort out a heavy flamer turret for the razorback just to really ruin someones day.

Can we get alternate angles on the predator turret? Rear and side preferably, I'm interested on how it changes the silhouette of the tank.

Here's the requested shots fella, the rear is a mess but it's nothing some greenstuff isn't going to fill. The over all quality is pretty good, there is some airbubbling and some lines but generous shaving and filling and it's not a problem.

Fantastic work brother as always. Love the pred

Thanks fella, it's gonna be quite the project doing the ETL this year.

I'm sure you'll manage just fine,Tyrax.

I'll echo what others have said; that is a nice looking turret.  Not nearly as bulky as I expected it to be.
