Thanks for the comments and feedback.

I've decided not to do the turret armour. I'll save the bitz for a future model (though probably not this army).

I won't be painting it (well, might undercoat it) as I want to do it for Regiments of the B&C: Big Guns Never Tire.

Still have details to add anyway (may try to add aguilette to the tank commander), and if I'm not putting on that turret armour then I can fit a crew member atop the tread guard. So I've got to build him.

Will post more images when construction is completed.

All the talk of Brian Blessed has me thinking I need a character names Gordon so I can exclaim when he survives ;)

And today I wrote my first piece of fiction based on Kierdale's Shrineworld for - of all things! - the Chaos Forums' Inspiration Friday event.

If anyone is interested, there's something rotten in the hinterlands.

Hehe.

Stepping down from mod old has given me more hobby time, and the CoC serves as encouragement to get on with my Psychopomps...but the guard still get their fair share of my attention. :)

I'm now working on my 'Pomps at work and guard at home.

We're seeing the results :) I've got some of the snap fits on their way so I'll hopefully get started on them soon, as for my Guard I'm planning to get a fair bit of the construction work on Pask done this weekend :tu:

What models do you have planned for the future, aside from the Russ?

The demolisher/executioner/punisher's easier to magnetise (the main weapon), that's for sure.

Will have to get more in the future. I can't believe this is only my second Russ!

I put some stowage on the Russ today and will get to work on the crew member this weekend. I plan to have him stand atop the right sponson, pinned (but not glued) in place. I'm also putting pins into a stowage box to put in the same place when I don't want the crew member there.

Once the Russ is prepared for the event...

I have a lot of kits to do (shotgun vets, more rough riders, two Primaris psykers, scions, Wyvern...) but I think I'll do the enginseer. I feel like doing a character next.

I can't believe it's only your second either! I dug an old one out from must be 20 years ago that needs a lot of love. I think that makes it something like Russ number 8 now? :D

I'll look forward to seeing your next work, especially the Enginseer. Good models and useful on the table top. Or rather will be when have more than a couple of Russes

Added some details to the Russ...

Shovel by the engine.

Rungs up the side and to the turret.

And holes atop the right sponson...

And the result of GW Nakano's Autumn Painting Competition.

I'm not sure who aside from Miko, March10k and myself can read this, but it basically says:

Winner of the Single Mini category: entry no.1

Winner of the Large Mini category: entry no.8

Winner of the Unit category: entry no.13

People's champion (decided by customer voting rather than the staff): entry no.13

What was entry no.13? A fine unit of Kislev cavalry.

What was entry no.8? An excellently painted Nagash (which also, along with his army, got the GW Nakano Silver for Armies on Parade)

What was entry no.1?

:biggrin.:

Starting with this painting comp, the staff are making trophies for each winner, with the trophy featuring a model representative of the winner's army (e.g. the Nagash-painter will get some kind of Undead trophy). The staff hadn't finished making them yet but I'll be getting a trophy incorporating an AM model once it's done!

Great stuff Kier! Well done on your victory :) Your Russ is looking excellent with all the extra bits, all I've managed to do on my Pask is some basic preparation and assembly...

Nice work on the Russ and congratulations on winning the competition! I've been steadily studying written Japanese lately, (mainly Hiragana, then I'll move onto Katakana and Kanji.) I'm still at the stage of linking characters to sounds, though, so full understanding is eluding me. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Thank you, all.

I look forward to painting the tank and it's crew, though there is one more thing to add to the hull. Once I've got some Oyumaru I can see about making 'them'...

I am considering, for all future tanks, making it so the turret crew can be removed like with this Russ. I'm sure most IG gamers end up with lots of turret-crew bodies left over and I'd like to make it so that I can plug in different commanders as the mood takes me. An opportunity to make some interesting, varied poses too.

No work to show as I've been down with a cold recently, busy with family time and what hobby time I have had has been desiccated to getting on with my Call of Chaos vow. Pastel shades take a lot more layers than the green of my IG does!

That's a good idea Kier, something I'm planning on doing for my next couple of Russes :) Hope you feel better soon, so far I've been cold free this winter despite travelling to work by train - clearly the Emperor looks after his own ;)

Great idea and I just wish I had thought about it before I did my Pask :(

Wow this is awesome stuff, the level of detail is incredible. Congratulations on the win too, really like that commissar.

Thank you very much, Jape.

Great idea and I just wish I had thought about it before I did my Pask :(

On my first Russ I didn't glue the turret top and bottom together, so I can (relatively) easily pop out the metal plate Pask fits into and replace it with plastic. I might go back and try to crack open my first chimera's turret so I can do it there too. On my second chimera, the command one, I'm happy with the tea-drinking pipe-smoker. :)

I've been idly thinking of good poses for plug-in commanders...

Might use the map-holding arms from the Wyvern crew to pose one as if lost...

One using a long rifle for some hunting...

I have a very particular idea for my Pask conversion that will require a bit of work, which is why my Big Guns entry will be a normal tank commander as he'll take some time. I'll have them both swapping out though as this is a good idea, even if you discount the fact I want a special model to count as Pask :) A hunting commander is a great idea, he'll get a good vantage point from his cupola!

Thinking about my Pask... I may be able to crack him out of the turret so he can be swapped around between the Russ and the upcoming Demolisher/Punisher/Executioner that is in the pipeline.

I was thinking of trimming off the tab which fits into the interior cupola ring recess, blocking the cupola hole up then simply dropping whichever commander I wanted to use in from the top with maybe a magnet to secure them. It will make more sense with photos ;)
