The colours look a bit flat right now, but I imagine that is because you haven't done much shading on the flesh yet, so no worries there.

Out of curiosity, why is his left arm green at the joint?

Also, his right arm looks smooth as silk, which strikes me as perhaps a little strange, but once again, I imagine it is a factor of being incomplete.

also need to do battlefamge to the impwrial fist helm and somehow do battledamage to a grey knight helm, and thats really hard considering its a pure metal helm(no paint to scrach away)

For the Grey Knight helm; just do some dents and scratches :smile.: Rhinox Hide will do

No T'Khan is so awesome he chips paint off unpainted metal. ;)

Is he wearing a green t-shirt under his armour, or is his black carapace green?

All in due time...all in due time.

How about how you do a video for that yellow on the fists head, or ...or... How about you do one based on a conversion?

ill remember that next time i need to paint up a fist helmet, could also do one on a conversion, you mean a conversion from the start step by step?

as i mentioned its just based, so havent done any shading at all on the flesh, or the black, the green bit is greenstuf, there was a gap in the conversion that was annoying me so i fixed it, not sure what you mean by smooth as silk, they are pretty much the same texture, might be a trick of the picture :)

yup that green is greenstuf, filled in a gap, its now painted over and hopefully fit in seamless with the rest of the arm

Yeah that's virtually the same thing I meant. But I do leave the metal out though. I just paint scratches and damage on with rhinox hide (black is good too) and leave it as is. Did it on one of my test Astral Claws:

Hope that will explain it better :biggrin.:

okay got the battle damage on metal down, looks decent, but battle damage on black! ARRAAAHHH!!! just cant make it look right, trying to makes some scrapes and such on the middle of thigh and shin on Khârn's power Armour, but it looks horrible, just don't know how to fix it! and need to be done with the model by Sunday so also feeling stressed

cant do blood effect before the battle damage is done, and cant do green glow before the battle damage and blood effect is done :sad.:

anyone able to help?

Edited by thamier

Stress less thamier! It's bad for you :)

Umm I'm not certain which technique you are trying but most folks will sponge on a dark grey then sponge some boltgun metal within the grey (for damage on black)

Or you could try a brown underlay...

Or you could brush it on of course.

Then I think they highlight the top edge with a highlight of your underlay colour :/

Idno ask forte, he paints good :)

Hope you get it sorted bud

no sign of any forte

I'm here, don't worry.

But of a tough one as I usually add actual scratches and damage at the building stage. Though it looks like you're going the right way about it. Just be sure to highlight with a line under any scratches or dents. And what you've got so far is looking good so keep going.

olay be sure to read this first, he is almost done i have started on the green glow but its not done! so you have to imagine how it will look with the rest of the layers done, but other than that i would really apriciate feedback on the model, if there is anything that needs fixing ajusting i need to do it tommorow. my aim is for minimum 19p and max is 20 and if you looked at the link a few posts back to the iron goblin, ypu can see the competiton and the level especialy the eldar.

so what do younguys think? aremthe vains good freehands and effects? battledamage? more blood?

so what do you think? and thanks for the help!

Battle damage on black amrour is done by painting small amounts of Rhinox Hide on and highlighting those streaks with lighter grey.

I like Khârn as is, but I'd have chosen the head of the axe to be of darker colour. The light grey just ,ooks a little off by me. The BFTBG is perfect, do not do any more. It's easy to overdo it and you've nailed it like it is now. Do not do any more. :tu:

and done and done!

now just have to wait and see if its good enough to get me into the final
