Oh sure, now you tell us we could have chosen an HQ. :p I kid, of course. I'd feel arrogant if I asked for one.

That is a wicked looking combi-bolter and chainsword HQ, look forward to seeing him painted.

Auspex Bro: Dragonkin Arenis (Aresenios) I will try and do one across his chest.

Many thanks, Brother. I feared that perhaps I might be pushing my luck with that request.

Yeah, no promises man, I'm gonna do my best.

If they're Slavic then....do Brother Artyom instead msn-wink.gif

Artyom it is.

Really sweet models Vazzy, like the yellow you've been using with these guys, not so bright that it hurts to look at them but not so weathered they look brown, excellent work. Oh, and if you're still doing this whole naming your dudes on guys from the forum, that would be totally awesome to be your librarian. At any rate, look forward to seeing where you go with the praetor turned standard bearer.

Can we vote for others to be used as names for the HQs?

If so, I would advocate using the new Mods of the Horus Heresy forum as inspiration, as a gesture of respect and comradeship.

I can imagine a grizzled artillery officer nicknamed the slayer of a thousand heathens. Somewhat jokingly, because the kills are by artillery while the VII are of the more honorable duels type. But nonetheless respectful, for he provides a substantial, quantifiable service to the Legion.

Which is why he was promoted to be in charge of a battle company, hitting the enemy hard and fast by dropping from Thunderhawks.

So. As everyone remembers, I grew to strongly hate my Praetor, and opted to make a new one. So here he is. Obviously still needs work to be done, and  a Power pack but he's coming along.

I also scored these 10 guys for my army, and am doing them in a reversed/night scheme as they(background wise) want to stay down low and bright ass armor makes it a bit difficult. As such, the "Nightclad" were born. What's everyone's opinions on the scheme I'm going to use stegadon green for the base of the cloak then drybrush sotek.

I think it's time these guys got their own thread, joined by my IW brother...

"Speak softly and Carry a big stick."
-Unknown Merican War Leader M.2

Strongpoint Beta

Death. Death had come to Terra, and she had not knocked politely when she’d done it.  The death Toll was already in the millions he’d heard. Allegedly the XII had wiped out 4 full divisions in 3 hours, falling on the hapless mortals like wolves to a calf, and left no survivors. Allegedly. The Centurion believed it. He knew the XIIth legion, knew them quite well.

The frothing mad men charged the palisade, slamming through the corrugated steel like tinfoil, chain axes, and throats screaming. Nicolas was cut down instantly, decapitation has a habit of doing that. Gerrard and Timo managed to bring one of them down, the barrels of their cannons steaming in the cool air. Farras and Ilya went down to a massive axe, Ilya bisected at the waist and Farras losing a leg, blood spraying onto the grey concrete. His plasma rifle had sang, dropping two of the crazed berserkers, but only splashed across the armor of the Devourer, whose meteor hammer smashed into his head, shattering his helm and most of his face. As he lay prone the Devourer had stood over him, gurgling a wet chuckle through his peg teeth and scarred visage he called a face.
“Dorn’s golden boys, masters of defense. Hurgh, not too tough. Die Golden one. Die…”

Khruscho had saved him that day, his hammer pulping the Devourer into a pile of ceramite and spine, but the Imperial Fist still felt ashamed he’d failed to save most of his squad. It was something he’d promised to never allow to happen again.
“Lord Mikas?” A human voice inquired, quavering with fear, and stress.

Mikas turned and regarded the mortal, taking in his battered Flak armor, and bloodied hands, before nodding for him to continue.

“Lord. An IV legion armored column is advancing towards us. They will be in the Medusas range within 10 minutes, and our Las arrays in 5. Permission to engage? “

Mikas stood, his pale blue eyes staring out from the mishmash work the Devourer had left his face.  He reached down, and grabbed the Black MK III helm from the ammo crate he’d been sitting upon.
“Permission granted Captain. Tell Sergeant Ignat I’ll be up in one minute.”
The mortal nodded and broke into a run, weaving through the assembled army troopers who manned the trenches alongside the Imperial Fists, his poorly fitting helm bouncing on his thin haired head. A whirring cant of Binary blurted from behind him, and Mikas smiled as his Servo skull awoke greeting him.
“Aye Dmitri. There are heretics to slay. “ The skull burbled again, more forcefully. “Aye my old friend, we will be sending them to Hel. Just as they did you.”
The skull seemed to bob happily as Mikas clambered up the service ladder to the top of the Firestorm redoubt. Igant Illuvyovich waited for him, the mans sharp angular cheek bones and aquiline nose giving the impression of a sneering falcon. Mikas suspected that’s why he was called the “Sokol” by his men, and the mans arrogance was matched only by his skill with the long barreled cannon resting across his shoulders. He nodded to the centurion in greeting before turning back to the magnocuars in his hand. Around him, the squad was beginning pre combat rituals, the teeth itching hum of their power generators permeating his armor. Each warrior bore the red and blue marking of the Antagnois VII campaign, where the curtains of deceit were thrown back and loyalties revealed. Fighting beside the XIV and III had been a new experience, but he’d gladly accepted their aid.
“What are we looking at Ignat? Disposition? Superheavies?”

The Sergeant smirked, “You’ll love it Mik, 9 predators supporting two Typhons. Easy pickings for us. We’ll show the IVth how we operate yet again, you’d think that Trench Grubber would’ve learned after the Volk sent them running. “

“You’d think so. But that Olympian pride is so easily bruised. Plus no one said he was smart. Surprised it didn’t kill him. The Lieutenant’s hammer I mean. ”
One of the squad, called out, the laughter evident through the vox. “Well sir, perhaps we should finish the job…”

Mikas grinned behind the ceramite helm. “Indeed Farras,  they don’t call me the Slayer of a Thousand Heathens for nothing. Let’s teach these dogs what it truly means to go against the VIIth legion. Fire at will. All units!”

Born on Inwit, Mikas is an exceptional anti armor and heavy weapons specialist whose propensity for artillery and long range Las fire are only equalled by his love of getting to grips with the enemy. Wounded during the Evacuation of civilians of Ankorag, Mikas returned to the legion determined to make sure that the traitors would pay for the deaths they caused. Nicknamed 1000 Heathens during the battle of Korzk due to alleged kill count of enemy vehicles and troops exceeding 4 digits. He was lost during the Counter offensive propagated after Operation: Titanfall to a XII legion Contemptor who tore him limb from him as he attempted to save Astartes Farras from enemy fire.

Dmitri, or Servo Skull 22-B55%67, is Centurion Mikas constant companion. Once the man's personal artificer, after his death at the hands of VIII legionaries during the Gigant incident, Mikas had Seymon honor his servant by turning him into a servo skull with rudimentary Artificial Intelligence. The skull still faithfully serves it's master, using it's limited energy field to turn away gunfire and shrapnel before it can damage the plate he once lovingly worked on.

"Walk softly, and carry a big gun"

Heathens seems to be venerated everywhere in the painting galleries here haha good work!!!

I think he knows who actually said the quote, it's just unknown in the setting at this time.

Onto the model, he looks pretty sweet. I'm glad you liked the example I gave on how it could be used as a nod towards 1000heathens.

I thought the Bob Skull sounded a little too unlike Heathens.

Well, that could be due to the necessities of what he wants on the tabletop, rather than being a nod to Heathens. He did only say he was looking for names, nothing about basing the character fluff off of that name, in whole or in part. The one vet with my name, for instance, need not be anything like me.

I have returned! Stronger than ever. Now with additional Girlfriend support! And done with his first Year of College! (almost) Anyways... If the title has given it away, I've returned back to my XIII legion roots as I miss the bastards. Right now the VII legion is on indefinite hold. Currently I am enrolled in the ETL but I also have this sucker on my table.
