I know right? I like that we've got 1500ish between us before anything else gets added.

 

Speaking of other things, I'm contemplating which Legion to do next. Sure, I still need to do a Fire Raptor and I still haven't solved my Obliterator conundrum, but I need the bits for the Raptor and I'm waiting for the right idea for Obliterators. I'm currently considering modified Centurions.

 

As to the next Legion though, I think it's gonna be Death Guard. The problem here is that the rules intersect poorly with my OCD, because a Lord with the Mark of Nurgle has different rules to a Plague Marine, unless you take Typhus but then the armour is wrong. I have solved this in a somewhat sideways way. I'm gonna take Typhus, Necrosius and a squad of Plague Marines, then fill the list with Contemptors and Ferrum Infernus Dreads.

 

Typhus will be modelled as a Techmarine in a custom suit of power armour (possible truescaling?) and Necrosius as an Apothecary. The Dreads are former members of the warband, stuffed into a Dreadnought to keep going. After all, one of the iconic things about the Death Guard is endurance, this is just a different way of looking at it. Also my Alpha Legion are very much a 'dudes in Rhinos' list, and I want to make the lists as different as possible.

 

I'm thinking 2 Contemptors, 1 Ferrum Infernus that goes Daemon Prince when it dies, then various other stuff as my whims take me. I have 5 DV Helbrutes to use up. This is likely not going to be an optimised list, I'm even considering some Dreadclaws. Also a Decimator, because I like the model.

Looks like I'm gonna have to base it after all, the magnets aren't strong enough to stop the whole thing collapsing if someone catches the gun and causes the model to twist. That's gonna be fun, drilling into the underside and trying to make sure I drill dead straight.

 

BeterOffShred wanted scale photos, so here they are. I figure I'd use hobby stuff anyone on this forum would have, as my hands are quite large and I didn't have any cans.

So, today was Salute. I bit the bullet and bought the models for my Alpha Legion Obliterators, so out with the old...

They're stock other than the power fists, which came from various Forge World sets, MK2 and MK4 I think. No paint just yet, they'll be going into a vow in the next couple of months.

Cheers dude! I spent ages agonising between them and the Mechanicus Secutors, but I saw these in the flesh yesterday and just thought 'Screw it'. The power fist chop job worked out better than I hoped as well.

 

Looks like my Khorne Bikers are gonna be back burnered though, unless I can scrounge some hobby money from somewhere. Ah well.

So I updated my Raptors with a Seraphim Sepia wash, just to give them a bit of definition and stop them looking so flat. Also testing it because I'll be doing this for the rest of my Khorne stuff during the ETL. I think it's come out pretty well to be honest. They aren't quite this orange in real life though.

That bone color scheme is pretty awesome. I thought about doing something similar for daemonkin, but settled on brass with red highlights. I can't wait to see the new stuff come to life with colors.

So here's where I'm currently at with the Brass Scorpion. I've been hampered by my Runelord Brass being all claggy and horrible, so I keep watering it down a tad too much. My brushes keep fraying as well, but I've got more en route hopefully. If not I'll grab 'em Sunday, they're fine for this width of trim. The stuff on the back of the claws, not so much.

Posting so I don't forget, had an idea for bikes. Bike chassis+Heldrake back with spines cut off+Heldrake legs. There will likely be plasticard involved as well.

I have a feeling Maulerfiend parts would be involved as well. I basically came up with the idea from the angle of 'If I was a crazy Dark Mechanicus guy who sort of worshipped a Brass Scorpion, how would I make a bike?' and came up with 'Some kind of mini Scorpion type thing'.

 

I then started trying to work out how to do it without using the Necron conversions I saw the other day. So yeah, insane hybrids of several other kits, green stuff and plasticard. That'll be a fun summer project.

Man I never realized how big a brass scorpion was. I've been using anvil bionic arms for my oath broken . Give em a look when u get a min

 

The arms or your Oathbroken? Both are damn cool.

 

Finished my Obliterators, after a bunch of paint fell of my Brass Scorpion thanks to mould release agent. Gonna be sorting that in the next few days, might paint the Chosen in the meantime.

On the basis that my wife has the paint that I need to carry on with my Scorpion, started painting the Chosen. Any suggestions for their personal markings gratefully received.
