So, we have a had a couple more games facing the Templars off against the Skitarii, and had mixed results.

Playing the objective seems to be the most important aspect, unsurprisingly! The Skitarii lost the last match primarily due to staying castled-up for too long. Unfortunately, the marines seemed unable to cause any damage throughout the entire game... they really did hit like a wet fish throughout. My Reiver sergeant combat specialist both charged and spent two rounds in combat with a skitarii, and caused a single fleshwound...

At least the Heavy Bolter did okay until he was killed in turn two.

My comms specialist with plasma pistol seems to be too short-ranged to add much, especially once his sniper buddy is gone!

I'll try mixing things up a little, and offer a prayer to the Emperor for some better dice rolls.

I'm the meantime, thoughts on some Reiver ideas? Grabbed a new copy of the Conquest magazine today ;)

There's also some WIP with a neophyte and Fire Lord intercessor :)

Cheers! Yeah their right shoulder pad is sized somewhere halfway between a standard bare arm and a regular tactical marine shoulder pad.

If - like me - you don't like the lightly-armoured look, then a terminator pad is just the right size to fit over it and bulk him up a bit. It retains the asymmetrical look, but shifts the "reduced armour for increased flexibility" aspect to the melee arm, rather than the pistol arm. This makes me happier, and keeps them looking big and scary. No skull masks though - they are for Chaplains! Like a good Black Templar, these fellas will mostly bring chainswords and knightly helms.

This is my test fig for my Black Templar kill team. It's a pretty quick'n'dirty scheme washing Nuln over Eshin. Trying out for a softer contrast than my earlier paint jobs (Honda inspired ;) )

This is a Reiver, just Templar'd up a bit. Still not sure I want to fully integrate them into my Crusade but happy enough to play around with them on a small scale. More to follow!

Thanks! I found the easy-fit Reivers a little tricky to pose - the defaults can be a bit static so I did my best to find some character in them :)

I also snagged a copy of Conquest with the new primaris lieutenant, who has been scraped/greened to remove the ultra markings. I'm being indecisive with regards to the head - ideas below.

If I can find any Templar pads in my dwindling bits box, he'll get a pair, along with some brass etch on the sword hilt and maybe the kneepad.

Expecting that I'll run him as a power sword sergeant in my kill team roster.

Billowy cape - dramatic or melodramatic? :P

I like the determined walking pose, but not sold on the cape. It seems like it ought to flow from the shoulders and instead it looks like it's pinned from his back.

Plus in general, we don't do capes without tabards.

My two yen.

 Mold lines will be scraped away before painting :tongue.:

Yeah, I think the cape needs a little greenstuff to extend the contact point from where it is currently (backpack joint) and up to the shoulder. While doing a tabard would be cool, that's getting into properly sculpting rather than a quick kitbash. I also don't want to hide his pose too much, as I rather like his striding style. I am adding a boltgun slung over the shoulder on a chain though, which should have a familiar helbrecht-ish vibe.

Is that one of the maxmini.eu capes? Tried them on my intercessor sergeant and wasn't really happy sadly. Maybe I'll try again.

I am loving what you did with the reiver. Looks great. I am thinking about how to include them in my crusade/kill team. Did you do a handswap?

I think so, but the cape was in my bitsbox for so long that I can't be certain anymore. It hadn't been used until now mainly because it's so hard to fit to a Space Marine, Primaris or otherwise.

Glad you like the Reiver! Yeah, just a little snip at the forearm. You have to keep an eye on exactly where to cut, as the "cuff" on the upgrade-arm is a bit further back than the wrist. Still a simple kitbash though. It probably works even easier when using the full Reiver kit rather than the push-fit set of 3. I got quite a bit more painting done on the kill team, pics to follow. Unfortunately I didn't have time to fully finish them before heading off on my next adventure! Good enough for the tabletop at any rate ;)

I also forgot to get a final WIP shot of the Lieutenant- he actually had quite a bit of greenstuff to bring the cape up to join at the top of his shoulfees between the pads. It looks much better than this picture ;)

Looks cool.

I really like it. Guess I'll do some work on my intercessor sergeant then, to give him arRobe and cape.

Maybe it helps for the kitbashing: I got chapter Symbols of shapeways: they have there kinds: for shoulder pads, for knees and for shin. Fit great on primaris too.

When/if conquest comes to germany/Europa I'l pretty much copy what you did with the lieutnant;)

The brass etched Symbols are forgeworld?

Yeah I was pretty imressed with the shapeways stuff.

They sadly just break easily if you apply pressure at the wrong point.

Might get some of the brass etched stuff. Looks useful, especially for shields and banners and such

My globetrotting is at an end for the next while, and I found a job, place to live and even space to get my crusade out! :P

With that in mind, I grabbed a brush and started painting my intercessor Sgt from last year; WIP below. Its good to be hobbying again! Giant image warning. Got to try and organise my photo hosting properly...

I've been working on a new Grimaldus; I was feeling inspired by his new rules and when I saw the new Reiver Sgt model in his death-leap pose,  I just had to go for it.

(Also I'm using IMGUR for my photos, and they always seem to be huge! any tips on resolving that? I just upload them directly form my mobile).

He's magnetised for good measure, not least because he looks super awesome with a full length blade! I've even magnetised the head so he can run as a Champion/Marshal if required.

I also got around to finishing up my Intecessor Sgt at last; he'll be a regular in my kill-team.

The Intercessor SGT looks like he's coming over to open a KEG of whoopass on an enemy of the Imperium- badass. Excellent work.

Primaris Grimaldus looks most promising. I hope to see the completed model soon.

Just a quick rough re-paint of an old metal jump-chaplain, figured he might be useful in some up-coming lists :)

The Eternal Crusader; display case for my Black Templar army. https://imgur.com/gallery/fs3GQmV

I rigged some lighting and sound into my Ikea display case. Now if only I could get around to finishing some painting...

Black Templar Assault Terminators

Made a concerted effort to get some more paint onto this unit which has sat base-coated for the best part of a year...

Officially good'nuff!

The crusade marches ever onwards.
