What 2014 will bring

I think this latest set of BA rumours sounds a bit fishy. Mainly because of the Predator kit, we already have a very nice Baal kit and the SM release didn't have one.

Really looking forward for the BA starter set though!

C:SM also got two new tanks though...  AA Tanks.  I think it seems logical for an AA variant on the Baal Pred.

What about an Assault Cannon variant? With the shift towards more infantry/ground-pounders for armies generally, a good counter could be Assault Cannon Sponsons to go in tandem with the twin-linked turret. The mid-range of the gun still requires you to get close to the action (which our Fast vehicles can naturally do... assuming we don't lose Fast as an ability), which puts you in threat range of certain units maybe as the drawback to the load-out.

Failing on the "logic" front, you can always fall back to "it would at least look very cool" woot.gif

As a side note to the possible additional tank/Pred variant, it would be good if they could do something to make the "flame" version of the Baal worth taking. 140 points of "take one shot with each and then you're dead" just hasn't cut it for pretty much all of 6th edition with the new rules. I also don't think we need a new AA vehicle, over and above acquiring the Hunter/Stalker from our cousins.

Personally, and I may get some flakk for this (pun intended), I'd like a BA air superiority fighter. The skies are supposed to be our domain and I'm sick of our only choice being the stormraven or storm talon allies.

Ok, if I were actually writing my flying centurions, I'd give them vector strike. That would make them a strong multi-purpose unit: some kinda vicious anti-infantry lightning claws, they're marines so they can punch tanks to death, and when their jump infantry move takes them across a flyer, they fly high and fast enough to rip the guts out of it. Maybe they could do the same thing when they fly over infantry, like dark eldar jetbikes.

GW should totally hire me :P

LOL the idea of those centurions trying to be agile enough to vector strike a barn door tickles me ;)

Now what would be awesome if anyone else watches the Snagabods Greed campaign with mini wargaming is deep striking assault squads onto flyers...

I'll leave that thought for you ;)

Anyone catch the latest batch of rumors today on Faeit?

"Blood Angels are rumored to be coming very soon, along with their rumored appearance on the cover of the 7th edition rulebook and starter set. While we are not getting any details of the new release, there are some hints within this rumor bit.

Please remember that these are rumors.

Be prepared for the Blood Angels update,  its closing fast upon the release date. A few models have been reworked, use of vehicles, and weapons previously not in the codex will be getting added to the codex. We should be having a few of the new BA appearing before the codex is released."

Interesting...But I'm still a little skeptical.

Hm. What vehicles and weapons could we get that's "not in the codex" but could be "added to the codex"? Thunderfire cannons? Centurions and the anti-aircraft tanks? Stormtalons? Grav guns? Ironclad dreadnoughts? ARTIFICER ARMOR!? Man, would that ever piss off the Dark Angels players!

A question for all: of the toys in the Space Marines codex that we don't get, what would you most want to see added to our arsenals?

A question for all: of the toys in the Space Marines codex that we don't get, what would you most want to see added to our arsenals?

I'd like access to a Chapter Master option with some nice relics over anything else.  Orbital strike. Boom.  Won't hold my breath though.

I think the addition of thunderfire cannons would be kind of fluffy actually.  I love the techmarine model, but sadly will not field one in my BA army as they are one of the worst elite choices we can take IMO.  Every time I play against someone with a thunderfire cannon it murders me.  The model looks great too.

I don't want grav or anything like that, that's what allies are for.  Centurions are to slow for our play style.  I mean I guess they work if you pop em in a LR but still..

I could honestly care less for the SM AA vehicles, I'm hoping our Baal Pred gets an AA variant.

Could care less about the Iron Clad as we have lots of choices with our dreadnought selection.

I wouldn't mind access to the storm talons, I'd pick one or two up if we had access to it, oh, and the Landspeeder Storm.  Gives me a reason to pick up some scouts kitted for combat.

Hm.

I agree with you on a few points. I'd love the ability to take a thunderfire cannon, though I'd also love to see our techmarines get altered to make them more useful. In particular, I'd love to seem them get the Independent Character rule. If they had that, I might through 50 points at a techmarine to ride in the land raider crusader alongside my hammernators, captain, and priest. Even if all he did was keep my land raider moving forward, he'd be worth his points. If had a dollar for every time my land raider got caught on midfield terrain, I'd buy a third land raider.

I agree that centurions wouldn't really interest me. If I want something to pop out of a land raider, you get more wounds with a squad of hammernators, and as I've written before, Feel No Pain synergizes well with a larger number of wounds.

I would also love stormtalons. I'd feel bad about that stormtalon I sold when I got rid of my Exorcists, but I'd just buy another one.

I agree about dreadnoughts and grav.

Where I disagree with you is on the storm, as well as the anti aircraft tanks.

I don't much care for the storm. If I want to do combat, I can use assault marines or vanguard vets - something even more mobile and survivable than a scout squad in a storm, and I can give them a priest to blanket them in 5+ FNP. You can't do that with scouts in astorm. When I do scouts, I usually do snipers - cheap, hard to kill campers for a backfield objective.

I'd love to get the anti-aircraft tanks. I think it some relatively inexpensive anti-aircraft solutions would come in very handy. As long as our only anti-air options are relatively expensive flyers, we're at a disadvantage. If we can bring a cheap tank and try to deny our opponent access to the air, more lists are available to us, and that's all to the good.

The storm talon is inexpensive AA, the SM AA tanks are just expensive niche units.

If I had to pick one I'd also go with the land speeder storm. They fit the aggressive play style of BA very well, unlike regular marines.

If all these new rumours of consolidate into combat making a return and improved survivability for vehicles are true we are looking at a few months of very sweet blender dread action before they get hit with the inevitable nerf bat in our next codex. :D

I don't own any CC scouts, but I think from a fluff perspective, the land speeder storm would be good.  So I agree with you on the fact that my assault marines fill that role already, but it's just options which might come in handy one day.

Speculation time:

The new edition sees an increased focus on formation. So far, we have some formations available through Apocalypse and it's arguably likely that we'll get some for the new Codex. These tend to be current military formations or famous ones, so anyone care to speculate?

Here's what I am wondering regarding blood brothers:

Currently, your HG are being equipped with mostly guns because who wouldn't want a fast, melta/plasma squad with integrated feel no pain? I am wondering if they are going to split the concept out and make HG having varied CC wargear and blood brothers having sternguard/melta and plasma guns? Maybe they could have a jumpy heavy flamer user? Maybe some sort of "If your HQ is a <blank>, your blood brothers come equipped with <blank>"?

Assuming, of course, any of this is true.
