Wow, playing against such a well painted army with all those cool kitbashes must be awesome, this last rhino does look like a daemonic train indeed, but it's awesome nevertheless (if chaos dwarfs can pull it off so do you!).

Thanks guys!

It was super fun painting this army in such a quick pace. I'm actually amazed that I painted thirty marines and three rhinos in exactly 21 days. Further work will require some add-ons to the army, like a unit of possessed, a Khornate Renegade Knight, two maulerfiends, a Skull Cannon, some a couple of small units of bikers, another big Flesh Hounds/dire wolf unit, and a swathe of daemons - I still have to rebase 30 Bloodletters and three Bloodcrushers. Oh! And t=of course the six objective markers, without which even this 1250 list doesn't feel complete.

I played a fun 1250 battle against my regular hobby buddy Ruben's Dark Eldar today at GW Amsterdam South.

His list:

Venom with Lahmian (warlord)

Five Venoms wtih 5 DE Warriors w/1 Blaster

2 Ravagers with 3 Dark Lances

2 Razorwing Jetfighters with Dark Lances and 4 Rockets

My list:

Juggerlord with Sigil, Fist and Skull Helmet

2x 10 Khorne Marines + 2 Meltaguns in Dozer Rhino

1x 10 Khorne Marines + 2 Flamers in Dozer Rhino

1x 10 Flesh Hounds
2 Maulerfiends

I was very lucky to make two It Will Not Die rolls for the same wounded Maulerfiend nin a row, which allowed him to run around the table destroying venoms and a Ravager. Other highlights were him completely shooting up my Fleshhound and Lord unit, me Ramming a Ravager to death in two turns with an empty rhino, five Khorne Marines with flamers destroying a Venom with Passengers in one turn, and my last Aspiring Champion ascending to Daemon Princedom, only to be completely useless the rest of the game. The store manager took some pics, which I hope I can share with you later.

I also promise to make an army shot and a complete collection shot of all my Daemon Kin up to this point, tomorrow.

@ Aasfresser: Thanks! And tomorrow, promised :)

@ The Traitor: I hope it is! My regular opponents and I have kind of a a rule that we won't play against unpainted units unless it's in a store toournament (which rewards painted armies anyway), so I almost always play against painted armies.

@ Noctem Cultor: Thanks buddy! I consider that a high compliment, as I am a firm beliver in the less is more philosophy (which I worked into over the last couple of years, btw. If you look at my early Night Lords vehicles, the opposite is showing - they're so cluttered!)

I may not like their choice of patron deity, but those berserkers are fantastic! The boots are not particularly noticeable and look fine anyway :tu:

And their rhinos are suitably crazy. I absolutely love the third dozer blade!

Thanks guys! Here's the army shot I promised.

My 1250 list:

Chaos Lord of Khorne with Juggernaut, Powerfist, and Sigil of Corruption

2x 10 Khorne Marines + 2 Meltaguns, Rhino with Dozer Blade

1x 10 Khorne Marines + 2 Flamers, Champion with Combi-flamer, Rhino with Dozer Blade

1x 10 Flesh Hounds

2 Maulerfiends (notice I'm subbing two Blood Slaughters for them until i have two actual Maulers painted in KDK colours)

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/World%20Eaters/temporary_zpsyxhetkm3.jpg

The plan with them is basically throw everything towards the enemy, charge in turn two with the lord in the Hound unit and with the Maulers, turn three with the marines. If they're still operable, Ram or tank shock anything that's left with the Rhino's afterwards. Simple, but effective. It's proven to be a fun and quite effective list so far. I haven't won all games, but certainly more than half of it with them. There hasn't been a single game where I haven't been able to summon either a Daemon Prince or a Bloodthirster, either. Lot's of fun.

Anyway! Here's the picture of my entire Khorne Daemonkin collection so far. I also have 30 Bloodletters and 3 Bloodcrushers, but as I mentioned before, I still need to rebase them

Apologies for the weird quality of the lighting, but it was suuuuuuper sunny out today and my phone camera is crap for anything but macro shots. In any case, the collection is shaping up to be a nice all round grouping, with the addition of the 40 Power Armoured dudes in the six weeks or so. Hopefully I'll manage to rebase and repaint the daemons soon, and add some more bikers and fleshhounds, as well as the Skull Cannon and Renegade Knight I still have lined up.

Thanks for looking! C&C as always, much appreciated. :smile.:

@ hushrong: haha I actually thought about dremeling out one skull and replaing it with a servo skull - to act as a 'periscope', but then I noticed the lens next to the search light - which narrowly looks over the shield, and I thought that, along with the lenses on the combibolter, could function as a sight. But only if the scream-radar known as hearing fails. :biggrin.:

@ Kierdale: Cheers buddy! Even though I despise the dishonorable schemes of your guys' patron god, I accept the compliment!

@ The Hydra: CHOO CHOO! haha it'd be soo scary to see that thing IRL. It's over two marines high - which means it has a height of about 5 meters! That's two stories of a building! Insane! :laugh.:

It's an outstanding looking force buddy. As someone else has mentioned the boots aren't even that noticeable now they're all painted up. The LoS Dozer looks awesome on the Rhino, I haven't got any pics of my planned Land Raider project yet but I'll let you know as soon as I do. :tu:

The Khorne Train is glorious! Your KDK force is one of the best armies I've ever seen. The contemptor is definitely my favorite, would love to see more chaos dreads from you! Looking forward to seeing more stuff whether loyalist or traitors :smile.:

Next up: a reposed Maulerfiend.

I just finished doing the head and jaw.

@ The Traitor: Thanks a lot, dude! And you will, for sure! Dedication is key :)

@ Biohazard: Cheers, buddy, that's high praise :) I'm looking forward to your Land Raider!

@  Race Bannon: The 1250 force fits easily in two KR Multi Case carry cases. As for the rest... I'm unlikely to ever have to carry all of that at once, as I don't enjoy APocalypse games that much.

@ Viarocanum: Wow! Thank you! I'm unlikely to e doing any more Chaos Contemptors, although I do have a WE MkIV dread lined up.:)

@ kizzdougs: Cheers, buddy! I have to say it feels good finishing the army like this.

@ kobrakei: Thank you, mate. :)

The Rhinos look absolutely horrible. If I were you, I'd get rid of them ASAP to save your eyes from such terrible work. I'll PM you my address, just send them to me and I'll take care of it.

Seriously, spectacular work on your Daemonkin man. I look forward to the Maulerfiend.

Thanks guys!

I got slightly side-tracked by painting terrain - I bought the Containers from GW, plus the Dragon Teeth, Barricades, and Large Craters from Puppetswar. I'm thinking of getting all that again, plus the Industrial Terrain buildings from Gamemat.eu. I figure it's a bit expensive and investment, but one that will pay itself back because the terrain never gets old and can be used for years to come.

Anyway, I thought it'd be nice to share the pictures from last weeks Batrep in GW Amsterdam South with you all:

Venom with Lahmian (warlord)

Five Venoms wtih 5 DE Warriors w/1 Blaster

2 Ravagers with 3 Dark Lances

2 Razorwing Jetfighters with Dark Lances and 4 Rockets

My list:

Juggerlord with Sigil, Fist and Skull Helmet

2x 10 Khorne Marines + 2 Meltaguns in Dozer Rhino

1x 10 Khorne Marines + 2 Flamers + Combiflamer in Dozer Rhino

1x 10 Flesh Hounds
2 Maulerfiends

NB: These pictures were taken by the store manager of GW Amsterdam South, Dennis, and with his permission copied from its FB page. I like this store a lot, as there is a really cool gaming table and terrain, but most of all because the atmosphere is always great and the store manager is very laid back (ie not in sales pitch mode like most GW managers, who usually actually prevent me from buying stuff). Most importantly, when the weather allows, he organizes regular tournaments in the store (and in the backyard of the store), which garnered an actual local meta that is both competitive and friendly.

As you can see I managed to drive the Venoms with the Warrior squads into the corner of the field, after which he attempted a break-out. Seeing as he had to cross my archs of charge, I managed to charge almost everything he had in turn three and four, effectively destroying his entire force. I admit I was very lucky with the Maulerfiends, though - which both survived shooting from two Ravagers . He either missed or failed to penetrate, and I managed to roll my Daemon saves and two consecutive IWND saves. This allowed them to continue being a threat to his far more mobile units, which effectively gave me board control.

All in all a good game.

Saturday night I played two more games at home with this KDK list.

The first was against pretty much the exact same DE list, which I won even harder (I flamed two warrior squads in venoms with the flamer marine squad) - but again with help from my luck and his atrocious rolling.

The second game was again with my KDK list against a Trator Legions Night lords List he built with my miniatures:

Tzeentch DP
2x 7 Raptors with 2 meltas

1x 5 Warp Talons

2x 7 Bikers with 2 meltas

2x maulerfiend

It was a very interesting game of kat and mouse, because neither of us wanted to receive the charge. He cunningly shielded his DP with his two maulers, but bit my bait and I managed to destroy both maulers in the third turn with my meltas and charges from both of my maulerfiends. After that it was pretty much done for, as this left him out of position and forced him to make suboptimal charges, which allowed me to get off good ones. An interesting game for sure. Night Lords are HARD to shoot, damn!

ANyway, I hope you like these battle summaries. Thanks for looking/reading and your comments.

Nice battle reports .... the 1250 pnt list is unusual for KDK because most go for the formations, but this list seems to work well ( i like the 3 x CSM squads in rhino's)

I really like the darker red you have gone for in the colour scheme (i often wonder if mine is to bright) .. I would say this is my favorite KDK i have seen so far, keep up the good work ! :)

Thanks, Sagentus  :) I know most KDK players want to go for the Slaughtercult formation, but really that formation's cost - the possessed  - isn't worth that single extra Blood Tithe Point (BTP) per turn in games of less than 1750 points. I mean, with this list, those squishy rhino's and the six threats (Lord unit, 3 rhino's and 2 Maulerfiends) coming at the opponent - all at 12" per turn -, some of them are bound to be shot anyway, garnering enough BTP to give the disembarking Khorne Marines FNP in turn two, allowing them to survive to charge and do significant damage in turn three. I've managed to summon a DP or BT in every single game so far, and my win-loss ratio is about 75%. :)

In other news, I painted the terrain I got from Puppetswar. I am really impressed with their quality. The paint job is a bit basic, as this is terrain we're talking about, but I'm happy enough with it, and think they're really cool, scenic terrain pieces. Here's what I have:

First up there's some Dragon's Teeth tank traps. Unfortunately they've only sent me eight, while the set consists of ten. I've already contacted them through facebook to see if we can resolve this issue, but so far no reply :( If they resolve this issue, I'll even consider getting another set of ten, as they really are cool terrain pieces. :D

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/temporary_zpscwveywp4.jpg

Then there's a set of five pices of barricades, which are perfect pieces of scatter terrain that provide a 5+ cover save:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/temporary_zpsggfiydng.jpg

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/temporary_zpsi5ayekiy.jpg

And finally there's a set of three large craters. All three are the same, but they're erratic enough in their outline to not make that matter a lot:

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d185/mkruijff/temporary_zps43c0urqb.jpg

I'll take some pics of the containers when they're finished as well :) Painting terrain is a reward in itself - because they're miniatures you'll almost always use, and they greatly improve the gaming experience for me. :tu:

Cheers!

Very cool terrain pieces. Painting terrain can be a relief after painting so many minis. You can switch colors and experiment more with weathering and different techniques. And you get very quick and nice results.

Exactly! Painting the grimy blue, for example, was a delight! I also really like how the scorched earth in the centre of the crater turned out. :)

I'm pleased to say that Artur from Puppetswar has contacted me and promised to send the two missing pieces.

That terrain looks great, I specially like the crater, it seems very natural!

I, on the other hand, have never liked painting terrain, every time I've had to it has been a pain... But good for you if you enjoy it playing in tables full of well-painted scenery is always a delight.

'Been a while.

I did some work on reposing the Maulerfiend. I wanted the left arm, which in the original form looks like it is reaching out, to look like the right one. Noth arms' nuckles on the ground, posing in a threatening stance like a silverback gorilla.

I'm happy enough with it. It's not perfect, but my limited sculpting skills make this the best I can do... I hope you like!

I'll now start work on a second Jugger Lord, armed with the Axe of Kor'Lath. :D

Thanks for looking :tu:
