The Blight drones are looking sickly and grand!!

Its amazing how fast you paint.

Only niggle is the right most drone.

The other 2 have green/bronze detailing on the carapace and the right-most does not.

With having the red fly and no green on the carapace armour, it does not tie in so well with the other 2. I like the red fly and it helps the drone to stand out. Is it a drone leader?

Is it possible to incorporate some red into the carapace of the other 2 or green on to the "fly" to help link them together? Or will they be run as separate units, so matching them up is a moot point?

Either way very nicely done.

The Drones are looking fantastic as a team! The tweakes carapace designs you've come up with are arguably cooler than some of the official ones that come in the multipart kit. My favourite one has to be the Heresy-era emblem one, simply because it's such a slick idea, and wonderfully executed!

Touching upon the same thing as Dantay above, the red emblem on the first drone stands out even more now -- any plans to repaint it, after all?

Keep up the amazing work, buddy! :)

Thanks, team!

Regarding the red fly emblem of the drone - I agree it stands out, but I'm keeping it that way. All fly emblems in the army so far have been painted in red, and uniformity isn't necessary - bloat drones do not come in units, so they don't need to 'fit' together, as long as they all fit in the scheme of the eventual army (which I'm sure they'll do)! So the 'group' picture is more to show you I've finished the three drones in my ETL vow. I plan on doing two more - one of which will get a Brass emblem and the other another red emblem of some sort. This way, they'll al be kinda sorta  different! :tu:

I haven't been sitting idle last night - I had a 13 hour work day and as the SO had an evening shift, I had an hour to paint, so I finished the Noxious Blightbringer!

I gotta hand it to GW - what a fantastic miniature this is. The complexity belies the fact that this guy is incorporated in the standard game set. They've come such a long way from those awful monopose marines from 2nd edition!

Anyway, without further ado  -or adieu, as a fellow Death Guard player would say ;) :p (Massive apology for the tease, I couldn't help myself once I had written 'ado')

Hope you like! I'm as we speak putting the finishing touches on the Lord of Contagion...

Cheerio!

@ DuskRaider: Cheers, buddy! I'm plannig to go to Manchester for a tourny in November with my Amsterdam mates, so the miniatures need to be finished!

@ Sagentus: Cheers! The Blightbringer and LoC are next, and then I plan to finsally finish the massive axe squad...

@ Mechanist: Well, then I can say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! :tu: Thanks, buddy!

@ malcharion: Thanks a lot, malchy!

@ Dantay_VI: I hear you on the red fly icon, and hope I've answered the issue in the above text. I hope to make the 'unit' look more diverse with the addition of two more drones, one of which has another red icon. :)

@ KrautScientist: Well thanks! No plans to repaint, more plans to paint more drones in red! :D :tu:

The Noxious Blightbringer is looking awesome, buddy! Of course I have a minor suggestion, though: I think it would look cool to mix some brown or grey into the colour for his tabard, then carefully use that colour to add a fine higlight to the most prominent folds in the cloth, making it look a bit more threadbare and moth-eaten without losing any of the bold red on the rest of the area. A similar effect could also be achieved by carefully drybrushing a similar colour onto those prominent edges:

To see what I mean, compare Angron's loincloth here:

As always, keep up the amazing work! :)

The drones look great and I like the red emblem on the white and green. It stands out nicely. Maybe a metallic color would be cool but the red is a definite nice touch. Plus, the dirty-white/cream is the dominant color as there isn't a ton of green going on in the scheme to make it look like a noxious Christmas so we're clear.

Speaking of noxious, the blightbringer looks great. It is fantastic that the modeling has come so far these days. Top it off with your amazing painting skills and he's 'money'! Everything about him is topnotch but for some reason I love the metallic colors you've got like on the chains and braziers on his back. Something about that really catches my eye.

Great job on this one man Especialy love the tabard wile I agree with Kraut on the fact that it is maybe too clean, I love it this way because it creat a lovely contrast witch give the "cream" part an even more disgusting looks. Either way you work fast and with quality results   It's impressive.. Lux tenebrae easy peasy ^^

Also, I followed Krauty's advice and weathered the Noxious Blightbringer's tabard.

@ hushrong: Haha, I like how your formulated that. Nice bridging! The chains are easy: Typhus Corrosion over white, then some Ryza Rust here and there, and then a light Leadbelcher dryrbush. :)

@ Viridia: Cheers! Crisp yet Grimy is what I aim for ;)

@ malcharion: I agree - the rich red contrasts nicely with the cream. :) Where did you vow for the ETL?

@ sfPanzer: Hurray!

@ Marius Perdo: Welcome to the thread! Thanks for commenting! :tu:

Absolutely stunning Aug! The extra wethering on the tabard really adds character to the blight bringer, great siggestion Kraut! As for the LOC he also looks great! I would maybe suggest a bit more rust on the axe, but thats just me. One thing i did notice is on the skull on the creat you have a beige dot, is that on purpose?

Looking great, bud. I especially like the red cloth, very eye catching and helps the minis stand out in general.

I take offense to your running on my profficency in Swedish, though. And with that, I bid you uhdoo!

I'm so glad you picked up on my suggestion -- the tabard looks great now! Great job on the Lord of Contagion as well, although I have to say am I not quite sold on the axe head yet -- I've said before how I think your corroded metal look isn't quite there yet, and I think you should also pick out some of the detail (the power generator, the small skull on it, the cable running into it) in different colours, in order to break up the massive silver shape of the axe head a bit.

I'm also not quite sure about the smoke, although I have to admit I don't have any perfect solution for that either -- I do remember that undercoating it white, then washing it with Coelia Greenshade seems to produce a pretty cool effect, although it would introduce a whole new colour into your colour scheme, which could be a problem.

In any case, make no mistake: In spite of my niggling, those are some stunning paintjobs! :)

New update is superb! And thanks for the recipe! Going to have to save that for use later.

The termie lord looks great and will be awesome sorrounded by his underlings. I have to say the white/grey to black smoke is fabulously done. It’s super eye catching and I wish I could have painted my Sons of Malice like that!

Daemon Prince time.

I started this guy almost a year ago... vowed him for my own Augustus Arena event against Brother Chaplain Kage's Bloodthirster conversion. I failed and let BCK down. Then I repeated the same thing when I vowed it for Grotsmasha's conversion challenge - warlord edition.

But now, finally, he's finished! Hurray!

Picture time!

I hope you like him! If there is anything I should still add, please let me know soon - you know me, when something's pretty much done, I need paint on it, and the paint train waits for no-one.

So if you have any requests/additions/ideas/feedback, please let me know asap!

I already started adding some micro beads for pustules and buboes. So no need for those :)

In addition, I just added a Mourngul, wich I will sculpt a new pelvis for to add some front legs of the forgefiend kit, as well as some BT metal wings....  Finally, tomorrow will see me finally posting the five Plague Marines with the giant cleavers. :)

Cheers!

@ DuskRaider: Swedish is a difficult language, buddy. Not as difficult as Japanese, but still ;)

@ KrautScientist: will do on the axe blade, and I also took your advice on the engines and stuff. The smoke... you're right. It doesn't sit well, so I've decided to do them in the same colour as the plasma glow on the plasme guns.

@ Wilks_ Thanks, buddy! It's awesome that you're joining the group to go to the Manchester tourny!

@ hushrong: Well, I'm gonna change the smoke soon!

Wheee, so happy to see this guy again! And the prospect of actually seeing him painted soon makes me all giddy ;)

So, before you explode into action, a couple of minor suggestions:

  • It seems like the brazier needs some cleanup work, especially where the two halves go together, on the chain etc. Nothing major, just some gap filling (just adding some more glue to blend the seams would probably be good enough) and mold line removal.
  • I think you should definitely add just a few of those microbeads to that glorious, distended neck of his -- that way, you have something that can make the area even more disgusting when painted (*wink* buboes *wink*) ;)
  • I made the same comment on another Nurglite Daemon Prince today, but it's just as viable here: Have you thought about adding a third/additional eye to the forehead of his helmet? The eye holes already hint at insectile compound eyes, and maybe a third, quasi-cyclopean eye on the forehead might be cool.

Beyond those minor tweaks, it looks like you're good to go! :)

Someone is in for a very short and bad day. Splat in the name of grandpa nurgle that dude is brilliant so much movement and energy.

The LOC is looking sweet and I'm looking forward to the next pictures with Kraut's advice since it currently looks like a different person painted the Axe head to the rest of him as it's very dry brushy when you've got alot of smoothness and depth going on in the rest of the scheme.

The other fellow really works and the fading on the tabard really finishes him nicely.

Thanks for the comments and keen eyes, guys!

I fixed his censer and added the pustules. I won't be doing a third eye, because I don't think it 'fits' him - besides, he already has three eye slits for each eye in his helmet! :D

In the meantime, let me introduce you to Squad V Graltun of my Death Guard Plague Company:

@ KrautScientist: Indeed! Thank, buddy! Your sharp eye drew me towards the censer, which I fixed. Thanks!

@ hushrong: Hurray! Looking forward to painting him, too!

@ Mechanist: LoC will need some extra work - I'm still not satisfied with the smoke effect, and I think I'll settle for a Yellow tih Coelha Greenshade wash and some moot green as a base.

The daemon prince is phenomenal, the pose and angling of the flail are matched just right for the sense of a bullish charge or crushing blow, especially when combined with his bulk. The choice of head was well done too, it screams blind aggression, which we don't often see with Nurgle, but nevertheless must be present in the daemons of chaos.

You’ve done really well to get a completely different pose out of that daemon Prince. Such a dynamic pose at that. His left arm really matches up with his new pose. The propellor jump pack is a great Nurgle alternative for wings and goes well with your drones.

Your Deathguard squad looks great. The icon as shield makes so much more sense in the unforgiving 40k setting. It’s one of those ideas that you know is great because it seems simple and obvious only in hindsight.

Loving the pairing of the deep sea diver helmet with the tentacle.

Great stuff! I just need to check out the other 178 pages now!
