Psychopomps (photos before farewell!)

How did you make them, Darkprincesnun?

Do you have any photos?

I know it's common to make them from heavy bolters with extended barrels, gargoyle muzzle breaks and added drum magazines.

I did consider some of the gargoyles for my autocannons but when I held them up next to the barrels they looked too big.

Oh, I got the ammo boxes to fit: I cut off the bottom four vent-thingies from the CSM backpacks. That did it.

If anyone is doing the same conversion, don't use the backpacks with the protruding U-shaped piping on the back as that gets in the way.

Do use the arms with trim on the cuffs. I've heard it's best not to use the skull or spike ones.

The full set:

Rogue Trader and The Edge of Illumination aren't glued in place :D

Most of the time it'll be like this:

The horn-mounted scope is from the WHFB Empire master engineer. Designed to rotate down over the servo-skull's right eye when needed.

Dark Tongue icon for `6` on the back of the skull. One wonders what's in the bag...

Kierdale:  The Object marker are looking really cool, Servo skull my favrout & the mini RT rule book (again there all cool).  You'll need to try get a army photo before the end of the year.  I find it good to look back that the army overall & see what cool new models & units I want to add in the future.

Very nice work! I think the books should stay :tongue.: Though that looks more like the 2nd Ed book to me?

Pah! It's first edition.

Second had a yellow box on the front saying "Rulebook" if I remember correctly. :tongue.:

And thanks, Psychopath.

I put my dark apostle into Warhammer Harajuku's winter painting comp, which closes for entries on Jan 10th (the staff then choose the best of the four categories), and then there's voting for the `people's champion` until Feb 10th...so no armyshot until then. I couldn't leave him out.

Models still to build/paint:

three rhinos

autocannon havocs

biker lord

two more bikers for the Black Stallions

two bikers for a new biker squad

drop pod converted into dreadclaw

maulerfiend

herald of Slaanesh

another 16 daemonettes (adding eight to each of the existing squads of ten)

ten fiends of Slaanesh

five raptors

Typhus counts-as

...I think that's everything I have boxed up.

I want to get at least one more box of ghouls to make a giant spawn too... :biggrin.:

how do you make the tiny books?

Was wondering that myself...

Very simple, to be honest.

I stained some paper beige using coffee and cut it into pages the size I wanted, held a stack of them together and applied glue along one edge (joining them where the spine will be).

For the cover (of the 40k one) I found an image of the 1st Ed rulebook (front) cover on the internet, colour printed it, reduced it and reduced it again and again until I got it the right size (just a bit larger than the pages). The spine and rear are simply painted dark brown (who'll notice?) and the stack of pages glued inside. Easy. :)

Some day I'll do the 2nd edition rulebook (partially as people keep mistaking the 1st for the 2nd), 3rd and all the rest, just for fun. I like popping it in to dioramas.

Likely I'll put it on the Armies on Parade base in 2016.

Plenty of boxed stuff for the next ETL

If only painting this army didn't take so long! So many different colours in each squad.

I do have a bit of progress to show on one of the rhinos.

Now what could this be the start of?

med_gallery_63428_9407_59237.jpg

There will be other I-bar girders in place supporting it.

But there'll be something better than Christmas decorations strung upon it...

HOGTIED ELDAR...with spikes through their knees.

One upright, one upside down...as well as spikes, trophies and other ornaments.
