Things we've learned about us fans of the HH Series: Volkite + Weapon = Pure, Uncontested Win (for another example http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/301382-march-of-the-legions-xix-completions/?p=3908095)

So, Volkite Spear, check! And, lets be honest, its WAAAAY Cooler than Asterion Molocks Spear!

Looks great, I also much prefer the darker green on the 'Manders :) like this and stonehearts Salamnders also.

Its dark, but distinctive enough that you wouldnt confuse them with Dark Angels.

I am looking forward to seeing how these progress.

Howdi!

Looking good Atia! I love how he's darker than the FW 'scheme. Can't wait to ser the spearguy!

Oh pretty!

I'm a much bigger fan of the darker HH olive than I am 40k neon. You go!

Also... Spear volkite. Hilarious, yet I cant wait to see him painted.

thanks auggi and flint :wub.:

unfortunately we may see Molocks Spear again when FW finaly bring out some Custodes :P

@Pearson73, dantay_xv, HS, recon and deathspectresgt: :thanks:  for comments, glad you guys like how he turned out :)

I've started with my Firedrakes and Pyroclasts, as i need to paint them first for March of the Legions and the 30k casual hobby challange this month :P

hope to make some progress on them tomorrow :>

legion specific units are always the coolest (even if they suck in the case of phalanx warders....but dang they look good) Im looking forward to your end results!

Edit: just realized you have 10 firedrakes......... thats 20 wounds, plus +2 saves and storm shields. If I played against you I would just surrender lol. Are they going in a spartan with your HQ? PLEASE SAY YES.

hehe :biggrin.: ... originally, i don't want to give them a spartan but .... if i get some Q-Q eyes from you, i may consider it xD

How did you achieve that green? I am looking for a Matte color green like that

i tried a warmer colour scheme first, and wasn't satisfied, so i tried Stonehearts and it worked nice :tongue.: this is his colour scheme (THANKS Stoneheart at this point =D here's a link to his Salamander thread, while 40k, they're awesome! http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/298371-salamanders-2nd-coy-c901-998-m41/):

Stoneheart Green:

1) Waaagh Flesh, then all over wash with Nuln oil.

2) Layer of Waaagh Flesh, avoiding recesses.

3) Highlight edges with Loren Forest.

4) Second edge highlight with Straken Green

5) Final edge highlight with Nurgling Green.

Also, i'm glad to have a colour scheme recipe without mixing this time >.>

I suppose they could just run across the board (arent they normal termies and not cataphractii?) like an unstoppable wave of scales and green, increasing the panic as they get closer to deliver hammer time for all the boys and girls to enjoy lol. The only risk with that is Pieplates and lords of war.

Hiho =)

you have won, i will shift one of my DG Spartans to the Salamanders :tongue.:

That is a lot of scaly green!

Are the Pyroclasts on 32mm bases?

I am really looking forward to seeing the group shot when these guys are done :smile.:

thanks :tongue.: yes, they are on the new bases, and tbh, they need them! i'll do all of my future Marines on the 32mm bases, but they are oop atm. .... so i need to wait for more bases QQ

Little update on the Firedrakes, note that the armour isn't highlited yet :tongue.:

Very pretty olivey color. I like that sooo much better than neon green!

Your flames are also super lovey. Good job so far!

I don't envy you replacing all of your bases though... would the consistency thing just drive you to drink?

Hiho :tongue.:

it might be the light, but the tabard has a slightly different shade of green than the armour in reality :Q

The terminator looks amazing... The tiniest nit-pick though, flames are white/yellow at the bottom and adrken to read at the top...

But your Salamanders win so muchon rule of cool scale that I wouldn't change it :happy.:

Peachy paintwork Atia!!

Can't believe I've been missing out on this WIP, Atia - to reiterate what others have said, inspiring stuff. I love your Death Guard, and impressed with the sheer speed and quality of your work. Your burgeoning Salamanders army is looking awesome so far! Love what you've done with the green recipe, and the flames on your Firedrakes look excellent. Thanks for the shout out, you honour me! :)

Can't stay away from the heresy now...caught in it's gravity well after being tempted over by all these superb WIP logs!

Magnificent. Seriously you make Salamanders miniatures look cool. And you're the first to do so. Yours look like they do in Massacre.

Thanks Auggi =)

well for the flames ... that's 100% right when you paint "real fire", but i went for the GW recipe for "painted/modelled" flames on models, like they did it on the Legion of the Damned ('cause these are 2D flames, so the "real" painting wouldn't look that great, you just try to get the fealing of it)

Like Anja from the Eavy Metal team, i've done it the other way around on the sergeants "real" fire:

but thanks for feedback dantay :smile.:

Hiho =)

want to share my progress with all of you :smile.:

Prometheus subpattern Terminator-armour

http://www.fotos-hochladen.net/uploads/terminatorshigr0ny8tom6b.jpg

Note: forged at the moon of Nocturne, the Prometheus sub-pattern is a modified version of standard issue Cataphractii armour, and was widely used by the XVIIIth Legion Firedrake Terminators, alongside the more common Tartarus, Indomitus and Saturnyne armour variants.

Atias, those Fire Drakes are looking stellar, like everything you tend to paint. I will say one thing, perhaps and that is that perhaps you should paint the drake pelt loin cloths a different color. I don't know how it looks in person, but from the images it just seems to blend into the armour a bit too much. Otherwise, stellar job. Love the flames.

Wow the flames pop! Great job very striking!

thanks buddies :P
