Always nice to bring squads of ten and combat squad the special weapons into two sets of two - more firelanes and harder to wipe the entire units off the board. Only one can have the sarge though (who gives some kind of ballistic skill, doesn't he?). But the other gets an extra body / shot. Fair compromise I guess. Decided he needed a little more bling than most normal dreads, so more gold. For anyone wondering the base for the gold is the old old Tin Bitz GW paint, found it in a box and it was still in working order along with some inks (...a few of which are screw lids that won't open) a sunburst yellow and the beautifully old boltgun metal! I took the claws off the Emperor's children symbols but left the III's as they were a bit too hard to decently take off - going to just blag him as from 3rd Grand Company back in the day and 3rd Battle Company now or something. All a bit messy as I can just touch up with black later when I get rid of the red of the purple! girot Posted July 6, 2015 Share Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) Today I built a third devastator squad. Sometimes I wonder if i'm playing the right chapter. I feel you, brother! When I first started my BA I had more heavy weapons than anything, particularly plasma. My best friend is a Dark Angel and tried for years to get me to join him and paint my army green. The first time I ever played 40k was a sample game that lasted about an hour. I was issued a dev squad and a librarian. The guy next to me had a tac squad, a terminator combat squad, and a dreadnought. My devs blew apart the dreadnought and tac squad. He deepstruck his termies right on top of my librarian's head and assaulted... ... I had initiative so I cast Quicken (+3 additional attacks) and rolled something like 5 or 6 power weapon wounds. He failed all of his invul saves before he ever got to attack. This all happened on his turn. I felt so bad but that cemented Blood Angels in my mind for all time. My Vanguard and Sternguard are pretty close to done, Priest is done, Termie lib is very close to done and dreads are close to done.
