I am enjoying Sang Guard with Armour of Contempt. Despite not being as inspiring as he should be, Dante has pulled his weight for me reasonably well so far.

My biggest struggle recently has been against Imperial Knights. We like to get up close to bring our short ranged firepower and melee potential to bear. Unfortunately this is what Knights want to do as well as most of their units need to perform in both shooting and melee to carry their weight. So fighting in our normal style rather plays into their hands. I am not sure what sort of long-ranged firepower to bring. My usual mix of MM Attack bikes and Plasma Inceptors got cut down fairly brutally.

Current rumour is that the extra run of Imperium magazine is going to include a multi-part Redemptor so maybe a Plasma Redemptor for my Blood Angels would be a good addition. It would certainly be a lot less vulnerable to Avenger gatling cannons and Armiger Helverins than my regular infantry.

Whoa, big gap in posting! I've mainly been down in the heresy section: My Heresy Alphas, A Bug's Life and the Eldar codex have kept me away from the BA for a wlittle while, but I've compled the chaplain recently and am finishing up a Leviathan that I've had in a box for too long, and managed to get my first BA battle in since armour of contempt was released - a quick summary is in my plog

I've had 5 ABR intercessors in my 'to paint' case for longer than is reasonable, so getting them painted is on my to-do list.

Weirdly, in the last couple of years I've been painting to play games instead of painting to collect, and while I've been really productive, I think my stuff is lacking conversions and doesn't have the 'heart' it used to, if that makes sense? That might be more Primaris if anything. I think I need to go and really name all my characters and units!

Otherwise, I've assembled a load o bits to convert some 30K BA Angels Tears and Dawnbreakers, however I don't know whether to paint them in the BA scheme or as Alpha Legion. I'm in the 'gotta catch em all' stage of a new army and am just grabbing stuff without a theme. I'm thinking I might have to try and add a theme to the armies, then build to that.

What are folks up to BAwise atm? I'm just trying to get some 30k Vorax finished.

I'm on hold until after January once I get back from the LVO, my plan is to add a few of the backlog CBs to the table. Currently I have a half assembled repulsor I want to finish along with some Gravis boys in red and white.

Also waiting on Christmas recruits. I've got a new list, very DC heavy. So come the new year I'll have plenty to work on. I tend to paint them up and then send them to someone else to look even nicer than I can do. this way I painted them to a certain std and had a hand in their creation. My hands are terrible anymore so any delicate details are out for me.

You folks expecting many reinforcements over Sanguinala?

I'm probably going to wait until I head to WHW in February.

One of my good friends is trying to pull me back into 40k. He plays Templars, so if I were to play against him I would probably play Xenos or Death Guard. So if I were to get anything, it's either going to be some Death Shroud, or a carnifex.

I'm holding out on new BA stuff just to see if the rumors are true. I really want a melee dread

I have asked Father Christmas for a Vindicator (on the assumption that the Imperial one will get buffed like the Chaos one). I am also planning to pick up a cheap Redemptor from Imperium when it comes out.

Overall I am focussing on my Wolves as I am pretty happy with my BAs at the moment.

I'm happy to say I've managed to crack on with these guys, 2 completed, 1 with highlights needing weathering, and the remaining 2 needing highlights and weathering.

Not really. New editions come and go. I tend to paint stuff I like more than chasing the meta. I have a few units I have never even fielded. I get fun modelling and painting and as the meta rises and falls, I will be able to find units for each army that let me play in a fun way.

I'm so far behind on the rule books of 9th I'm kinda overwhelmed with even wanting to spend $35.00 on another supplement that may only last 4 months. Doing away with force org and formations is interesting though.

Happy Sanguinula! It is a day of remembrance especially with the forth coming of the Angron Model, let us never forget a non Daemon Primarch defeated Khorne's champion, and made him beg for mercy.

Hope folks had a good day! What do we think of the Azrael and what it likely means for a Dante resculpt? Seems to me they’re working hard to keep to the classic designs with the updates for major characters now (and have been since Ragnar and mephiston I’d say).

makes me think Dante (when he happens) I’ll probably be the least primaris looking of all of them (assuming he even goes primaris, perhaps he won’t!) Dante always had the most unique armour design of all the space marines.

interestingly, the Azrael doesn’t seem to be really based on particular art in the same way mephiston was too, so I guess more options for poses are still a thing.

fun to speculate!

also, my hobby haul was limited this year, I’ve not been too bothered with it over the past year, I think the game itself hasn’t really excited me and there’s been more or less no marine releases of interest either. But, I did get a copy of the Sanguinius book which I’ll start tonight and as tradition dictates, two pots of mephiston red lol. Also an IOU for a Dante model at some point haha.
