Fun for modelling but not particularly competitive I think. More expensive than a Devastator squad and can only match its firepower under ideal circumstances. If you go for a heavy weapons built then you are kinda wasting the bonuses of the Champion. Maybe a melee build with a couple of PF/SS Vets and Inferno pistols throughout. Tool out a melee captain and you have a decently punch squad although they will need a Transport for delivery.

I agree in priciple. Usually a unit that does a little bit of everything tends to have a mediocre output. Still a half-shooty, half-melee option in a drop-pod I could see as a distraction carnifex. With those shields, 3W each and apothecary they could be hard to shift and hard to ignore.
But I admit I'm all for looks at the moment

There are lot of things that looks like errors in their datasheet. Damage in grav guns, 3W on standard infantry

Gosh you are right, I should pay more attention. Maybe they are worth a second look (until they get erratad). I really wish I could run my old BA Jump Command Squad.

Blood Angels Honour Guard | Miniset.net - Miniatures Collectors Guide

played a game with my eldest today, good fun,  ended in a draw. Put photos and things on my blog post !

Also steadily building the contents of leviathan, keeping conversions fairly minimal so far.

I've been building a modest (around 3.5k tops) Grey Knights army to play alongside my Blood Angels in 10th, but keeping up on this forum is telling me I may want to pause that and hop back to my Blood Angels? ;)

We all succumb to the Red Thirst eventually.

My own progress over the weekend towards my vow. I got the entire squad I pledged in red and  black so far, but I get bored pretty easily by big batch jobs, so I like to batch out til I start to feel the boredom, then deep dive on a single guy til I'm happy.

Mostly happy with this captain so far. Not done by any means as I've done 0 washes on him so far and need to put effort into the weapons and little details but for just getting down base colors im super happy with how he's turning out.

Really cool conversion DemonGSides.

I spend my evening cracking open my proteus to convert it to a viable build I want to actually run some day... Just in case I need two land raiders with phobos configuration at once

Tried a 500 point skirmish against GSC for a learning game with the CBs. I'm not a big fan of the new scoring system but more importantly I feel like BA have a looooong way to go.

Played a 1,000 point game with bugs against CSM. There's a lot of weird rules for armies, of the two games I've played it hasn't really felt like Warhammer.

I've got some repulsors to build, I've had 3 of them for a while, and since they aren't 300 points each, I'm excited to give them a try. The amount of lethal hits in the game and dice manipulation has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Especially after GW explicitly saying they were cutting back on a bunch of that stuff.

Played a 2k game last evening against Custodes. My 2nd game and his first in 10th. We managed to get 3 full turns in 2 1/2 hours. Called it after that as I was miles ahead and he only had some models left. He had 2 big blobs of custodes, both with a captain and 6 allarus Termis, also with a captain. The big dread and a battle tank. Custodes can popp a fights first strat and also have a - 1 dmg one. Frightening at first, but it went far better than expected in the end. I played sons of sang detachment and a very colorful list. Big match winners were the vindicator, hammerstrike speeder and 10 jump DC with chaplain. 40 powerfist attacks with reroll to hit and +1 to wound annihilated the allarus Termis even against - 1 to hit and - 1dmg.

Vindi blew up the enemy tank with ease and is a tough boy.

Hammerstrike  zoomed around to take an objective and killed quite a good amount of Custodes.

Very likely at this point that they will remain an Index unit and there will be a Primaris replacement in the Codex (the latter is consistent with the rumours too). Should be interesting for those who want to use them.

Assult Squads are going away in the codex...

The current Assault Squad kit is being retired but Valrak has heavily rumoured that we will see Primaris Assault squads as part of the Marine wave when the new Codex drops.

In fact if you look at the Assault Squad Index card, it has +1A over other Firsborn chainsword units (e.g. Blood Claws). Almost as if the rules already have the Primaris statline baked in. Hopefully this means our existing Assault Squads will remain viable (bar the odd weapon swap). I know I am still going to keep running my Firstborn Sternguard.

I welcome the change in the model range. There may only be a very few BA specific sculpts in the Primaris range, but even the plain models are very aesthetically pleasing to me.

The lore is driving that way too, with less than a third of Firstborn Astartes remaining after the Devastation of Baal. That helps me focus that way model-wise, even though our "best" units are still Firstborn.

After seeing the Black Templars full Primaris range, I 'm excited about the future.

I'm mixed on it.

on the one hand I just bought an ironclad (and it's part of my Call to Arms vow... go figure) and painted 3 attack bikes last year (which I'll probably just run as ATV's, if my opponent is ok with it).

on the other hand, if primaris and FB get further consolidated, maybe my FB lieutenants could be viable again.

in any case, I await the codex with bated breath.
