so , question , do yer dudes  have the same predilection to skinning people as the rest of the legion? 

 

what about cannibalism which seems to have been a thing on nostromo?

 

whats the sort of cultural themes that are prevalent with yer boys ?

 

My theme for the army is mainly based around Terror Marines attacking an undefended city. To that effect there's the whole urban bases with gratuitous blood smears and dead babies. Every model that has the Fear special rule has some sort of trophy on it, usually being either chains with/and skulls or flayed skin. The terror assault portion tends to heavily emphasize causing fear to mortals with flayed skin on the dread, sicaran and terror marines, the SA the dread is carrying, the faceplates of the terror marines, and their general mkIII armour.

 

That being said, the rest of the army has barely any trophies in it as I figured they were more generic legion forces and didn't cause fear. The new rite of war that gives the option for everyone might make me go back to them though.

So its been a while and I haven't been getting a lot of personal painting time in.

Leviathan is done to a state I'm 90% satisfied with. Might go back and redo the grav-bombard or add some more details but other than that (and his base) I'm really quite happy with the result.

 

Now some of you guys may be asking why the grey helmet with stripe; not only is it not blue at all, it looks far too uniform for the current iteration of my VIIIth. Well my thought on the Leviathan was that he was one of the first of the Terran members, from when they brought judgment upon those who transgressed. As verdicts are traditionally supposed to be decided upon without bias and from a neutral source, I thought grey fit that long lost ideal of neutral judgment very well, with the white stripe denoting his position in the Legion of old.

I hope so, this log was a great source of inspiration in choosing to take up the mantle of the VIIIth,would love to see it continue to inspire others.

So not a whole lot more done lately, as my order of outriders was sadly fairly messed up, but I've been tweaking the leviathan and quad mortars a bit.

 

I added a green phosphex-y glow to the missiles and the vent of the leviathan and launch tubes of the quad mortars.

I also touched up the flayed skin as I felt there was too much blood ruining the contrast between blood and flesh, as well as creating too much red; additionally the lightning on his leg got cleaned up to make it look less spiderweb-y. The base was unfortunately broken, so I acquired a warmahordes 80mm temporarily until I can get a proper one made, but I made sure to keep it nice and classic.

It's been a while thanks to busy real life :(

 

Buttttttt;I got a bunch of of chain glaives from anvil industries, and a brand new Knight Atropos that i've been working on too, really helped get some more motivation to paint. Unfortunately nothing is 100% done, the one set of raptors being around 70% tops, but its still some new stuff.

I'm painting the Knight up to be fairly neutral in loyalty, I want to be able to use it with my raven guard in the future. The scheme also kind of reflects this split loyalty; red and black for the ravens, bronze trim for the VIIIth.

Its a bit tricky to show off the entire model, but hopefully the admittedly terrible pictures give a general idea of what they look like with the two handed glaives. They're all going to look fairly similar to the more painted guys.

I decided to paint the lightning-ier trim as lightning since there's a ton of bronze details on these models and I didn't think I'd have the space to do normal amounts of it. hopefully it'll look fine when they're all finished.

Does anyone else feel like the top carapace skews the proportions a bit on the knight? Maybe its because I've left it off for so long to paint I've just got used to it not being there, or maybe it's because it covers the head so much .
