I personally think the first Krole looks better, but it could just be because she is painted.

Love the antique gold effect on the Custodes dreadnaugfhts

Hahah yeah, me too right now, I'm itching to get some paint on her.

Amazing idea to use Greyfax - whoever inspired you to do that is a handsome genius for sure...

She's looking great though, love the sword you used. Your scheme seems similar to mine too - but more blue than purple though.

ACE gold on your dreads! What's the recipe?

A gentleman and scholar too!

And yeah, I found it amusing that we settled on similar schemes, though I didn't base mine on any fluff.

The gold is Warplock Bronze, Sycorax Bronze, Brown Wash, Drybrush a mix of Sycorax and Runefang, Gloss Black Wash, Drybrush the previous mix. I use an airbrush for the first two steps so that might affect it a little, since good coverage is important

So just in time for the 8th ed announcement, I finished painting Krole! Also managed to get really good progress on the Achilli(?) but shes the subject of this post.

I decided to go for a couple of changes compared to my original plan. First one was reversing the cloak and tabard colours, I was originally going to have them Black and Blue, but I thought it'd be a waste to have the trim deemphasized. The second was the hair. It just wasn't popping on the test model, the highlights made it seem more grey than pure black...so I changed it to an off white. Really pleased with how the hair and tattoo turned out and really just the model as a whole. I think the ornate armour helps match up with the Custodes rather well compared to the normal Sisters of Silence.

So the notorious over-ordered Jetbikes arrives today in the mail and wow are they big. Only managed to whip one up so far but they go together really easy and don't have a ton of parts. And they're big, that's a 60mm its over hanging.

How did you paint the golden armour of the Custodes? It looks really nice!

Really sorry I never saw this post.

First its Warplock Bonze and then Sycorax Bronze with my airbrush. This is just so I have a really smooth and even coating. Can be tricky because if there's not enough sycorax it can show later on. Next is a wash of agrax, followed by drybrush of sycorax and runefang. Really gotta watch out for too much silver. Last step is to wash with gloss nuln oil

Long time away from the 30k for the most part and haven't done a lot of photos of the stuff I had finished, but got back into the groove to whip up a Telemon for a game last night. A few things to go back and touch up, but very pleased by the end result. Photo credits to Crablezworth

I finally painted up the Praevian I made almost a year ago.

This guy here:

848702_md-30k%2C%20Blue%2C%20Chain%20Gla

I hadn't painted anything for a Legion in a long time, or even played a game with one, so I decided the other week that I'd finally finish him up and take a big ol unit of Vorax with him.

939178_md-Blood%2C%20Blue%2C%20Bronze%2C939179_md-Blood%2C%20Blue%2C%20Bronze%2C939180_md-Blood%2C%20Blue%2C%20Bronze%2C939181_md-Blood%2C%20Blue%2C%20Bronze%2C939182_md-Blood%2C%20Blue%2C%20Bronze%2C

As I believe I mentioned in it's original post, the intention was to keep him very clean in terms of trophies and other murder-symbols. No excessive gore or terror symbols, just bare, smooth armour in reflection of how a Praevian is usually closer to it's charges than the Legion. Because of that, I also pointed his left arm in the same scheme as the Mechanicus I use as allies for my Legions; the green lenses and battle damage are also tie ins to the Vorax he leads and the Atropos that used to sometimes be included. I was a bit worried that after being away from the VIIIth for such a long time that my lightning would be a bit splotchy, but I was very satisfied with how it turned out. I'm also extremely pleased with his head; originally it was meant as another nod to the Mechanicum side of things, but after doing all the lenses and eye, it just looks so menacing and fits the VIIIth so well.

So after finishing up the base and touching parts up I wasn't quite satisfied with (like the eyes and some weathering), I have one completed Iron Warriors Terminator in Tartaros Armour.

983708_md-Hazard%2C%20Iron%20Warriors%2C983709_md-Hazard%2C%20Iron%20Warriors%2C983710_md-Hazard%2C%20Iron%20Warriors%2C983711_md-Hazard%2C%20Iron%20Warriors%2C983712_md-Hazard%2C%20Iron%20Warriors%2C983713_md-Hazard%2C%20Iron%20Warriors%2C

This my first time both building and painting Tartaros. It was a fun enough kit to put together, though I'm glad I was doing a paint scheme that made good use of surface area. Lots of smooth, flat surfaces are really boring with my other two legions dark colour+slightly brighter highlight. I decided on giving this guy the reaper, as the Iron Warrior art for their legion rules page has always stuck in my head as being the definitive image of them; might have to go with a really non-standard combi-grenade  squad for him to role with. I'm still unsure about overall ratio and placement of hazard stripes and if I should try out weathering powders in paint on form, but in the end, I'm really digging this guy.

Looks ace, really nice and realistic heavy weathering. You're spot on with the amount of stripes, just enough.

I think the only thing it needs is some more depth in the recesses, currently there is a lot of rust in them but i think it needs some shade, especially in the arm areas, just to break up the metal a little.

Well I actually didn't intend it to be rust, but accumulated dust, so I was a bit hesitant around areas that would move a lot. That being said, Ill be using it more abundantly and maybe with a darker colour to really break up the iron

Finished up my second Tartaros, added a little bit more chevrons and made a quick and dirty combi-grenade. I will need to go back and add a bit more definition and texture on the collar, top of the chest and on some of the shoulder weathering.

These guys look great, the really gritty, weathered style suits them down to the ground. The gore on the chainfist pleases me too, it's such a brutal weapon, yet all too often, folk paint them clean or just a little scratched.

I've been going slow on the Iron Warriors (doing commissions mainly), but I managed to knock a model and a half out. Now, the second set of pictures are wildly overexposed as I wanted to take them asap and didn't bother fixing my lighting or charging my actual camera, and are wildly auto-adjusted as a result. They will be re-shot in the near future.

First one up is a destroyer with rad launcher

51754607_10218073868938863_814988100888052021596_10218073869338873_906016766906351641821_10218073869618880_571581179399351919769_10218073868738858_7748231597391

His base is actually done, but the pictures with him on it (a 32mm) were particular victims of the over-exposure.

Second is a Breacher Seargent

998982_md-.jpg998981_md-.jpg998980_md-.jpg998979_md-.jpg

He's still a wip; I need to finish up the highlighting, weathering, optics and purity seals, as well as base, but I'm really pleased with how he's coming along.
